  1. An amazing trailer, followed by: "We need just a little more time to complete this game. Please understand." Boom. Smash bros delayed to 2015.
  2. Thanks @dazzybee, saved me £7 there!
  3. Yeah, sorry to burst anyone's bubble but New Egg ripped that description from a fan-made wikia page which contains a load of features, characters and tracks made up by the author.. You can find it here: http://fantendo.wikia.com/wiki/Mario_Kart_8_Wii_U
  4. If Nintendo want to put some IP on smartphones they could look into bringing their Touch Generations titles like Brain Training, English Training, Cookbook etc. They're already familiar to many of the casual crowd that flocked to smartphones, they'd be relatively easy to port across. Personally, I'd love to see Clubhouse games on my iPhone/iPad.
  5. The big difference is that when Arthur lost his armour it was for comical effect and not highly sexualised like this game is. As far as I recall you couldn't see his cock and balls jiggling playfully under his cotton boxers...
  6. Nintendo are behind the curve in terms of hardware, but that's not to say they couldn't focus on peripherals. Leave MS and SOny to cover the big R&D and manufacturing costs associated with a home console and just create a unique control system to connect to that hardware. Edit: Sorry, I missed @Daft's post
  7. Nintendo's IP is so strong they'd be able to negotiate really good rates with Sony or Microsoft if they did choose the third-party route. I.e. We'll give you exclusivity and you don't take a penny from our sales.
  8. The more I play this the more I love it. I'm at Hengsha Gardens which is a huge hub world. I spent a few hours wandering around, paid off a bouncer to get into a club, then found two alternative ways to get in there - d'oh! The freedom you have to try and find new routes is incredible. I took on a side mission to off some pimp, Diamond Joe or something, and happened to find a sneaky way to my main objective. This has got me hooked. I hope others on N-E take the plunge and pick it up.
  9. It's not just the GamePad that's suffered, most of their innovations over the years have been neglected after being used in a couple of games. The GameCube pad's digital click, GBA-GCN connectivity, DK Bongos, Wii balance board (perfect for 1080 snowboarding), ar games, 3D, snes mouse. That reminds me, they need to bring out Mario Paint for Wii U.
  10. Ahhhhh....so simple! Thanks for that. It's really helped a lot. Had a real blast (well, stealthy blast) on this the last few nights. Not too far into it yet, been focussing on the side missions mostly and exploring the city. I'm trying to do a kill-free run but I think I ballsed that up in the sewers when a guy I tranq'd fell in the electrified water. I've also come across the glitchy Cloak and Dagger mission. Ran around for an hour trying to find the last MCB guy to neutralise only to discover he's spawned to a spot on the map I can't get to. Last night I spent nearly four hours exploring the Police HQ, silently taking out the cops and hiding them in the vents. I love the open nature of this game. Reminds me of Hitman 2 on the Cube. Anyway, just creeping into the Derelict City section, on one of the main missions. Really enjoying the game so far. Glad I gave it a proper chance after returning my 360 rental copy after an hour.
  11. I try to snipe guards with the tranq gun from vents but the reticle keeps disappearing, is there any way around this?
  12. I've been kicking it old-school with Streets of Rage 3d this evening. It brought back loads of awesome memories! Just waiting for one of my sisters to pick it up so we can go co-op like we did when we were kids. The 3D effect looks amazing. I'll pick up Ecco next. Hope they do another round of 3D classics, Toe Jam & Earl, SoR2, and Sonic 2 would be top of my wishlist.
  13. Luigi's Mansion re-released on Wii U...
  14. Picked up Splinter Cell and Deus Ex in the black friday sales. Missus nabbed them for xmas so will have to wait to get my sneak on
  15. I've set my alarm to get Splinter Cell and Deus Ex HR.
  16. Famitsu have given this 38/40 9/10/9/10, while Game Informer gave it a 10. Not too shabby Edit: the GI review was for the new Zelda, sorry! Filled with flu so my brain is mush!
  17. Thanks guys. The Wii U plugs straight into the av receiver. It's an old model, prob six years old. I remember some reviews at the time said it didn't accept sound through hdmi, and just assumed that was the issue when i got the wii u, but I've tried my ps3 and xbox and they both work. Also tried plugging the wii u directly into my tv but my wii u is still mute.
  18. Yeah, my dvd player runs pcm just fine. Tried different cables but still nothing. Guess it needs to go back to ninty then...
  19. When I got my Wii U at launch I couldn't get any sound through my Sony AV amp. I've tried again after the recent update and still no sound when I choose 'surround' in the options. I've tried plugging it straight into two different TVs and still can't even get the sample sound to play in surround mode. Is this a general Wii U issue or is mine just broken? I'd have thought I coukd get some output in surround, even if it wasn't true 5.1. Any advice?
  20. Splinter Cell is £27.99 in store at HMV.
  21. Absolutely. Game & Wario's Miiverse sketch minigame is a concept that needs to be expanded to Mariokart and other future titles. If you got an automatic miiverse post after every time trial for instance, with separate miiverse boards for every track, I think that would broaden the appeal and keep people playing it. A bit like Need For Speed's awesome Autolog.
  22. RPGs are probably my favourite games nowadays. Been some crackers on Nintendo consoles over the past few years, and I've slowly been catching up on some old classics while the Wii U is a bit quieter. 1) Xenoblade Chronicles - Not just my favourite RPG but my favourite game ever. 130 hours of the best gaming experience I've ever had. Sublime story, wonderful characters, possibly the best soundtrack of all-time, and a really engaging battle system. I can't wait for X on Wii U. 2) Tales of Symphonia - Symphonia wasn't my first tales game (had a jap version of Phantasi I muddled through) but it is easily my favourite in the series and until Xenoblade came along it was my fave game. Lloyd was such a great lead and the epic story had me gripped till the end. I only bought this as a stop-gap till Pikmin 2 came along but it changed my gaming tastes forever. I'd never really been into RPGs before this came along then became obsessed with the genre. Really sad to see the HD remix isn't coming to WIi U. 3) Knights of the Old Republic - The game that persuaded me to get an Xbox. Star Wars plus Bioware, what's not to like? 4) Dragon Quest 8 - The pinnacle of a series I'm slowly catching up with. The British acting and memorable soundtrack capped off a great story and characters. The battle system was simple but that actually made it all the more enjoyable for me for some reason. 5) Chrono Trigger - I missed the SNES one but played the DS version to death. Truly amazing and well ahead of its time. 6) Final Fantasy 7 - I skipped the PS1, but this game has made me regret turning my nose at what I passed off as a linear movie. Picked it up on PS2 and got to the end of disc one before my sis erased my memory card for her harvest moon save file. Am determined to finish this one day. 7) Star Ocean Till the end of time - Once I finished Symphonia I searched for similar games and ended up getting this soon after. Very wierd plot and amazing end-game twist. The soundtrack is worth the price of entry on its own too. Shame SO Last Hope was pants. 8) Baten Kaitos - Very, very wierd but strangely gripping setting and story. Again, Motoi Sakuraba's soundtrack made this such a relaxing pleasure to play through. The card battle system was great too. Hope we get a sequel one day. 9) Paper Mario - Definitely one of the finer N64 games out there. The first Paper Mario stands out as the best in a great series, very closely followed by Bowser's Inside Story. 10) Mass Effect series - Building on the KOTOR system and conjuring up a completely new universe to play in, Bioware really pulled out all the stops on this series, even if they did scale back a lot of the content they wanted to make. Honourable mentions Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World - actually not as bad as people think, once you get through the awful first couple of hours. Later dungeons look incredible, and the relationship between Emil and Marta is really well written. Tenebrae is one of my fave Tales characters too. Skyrim - I got bored of Oblivion but this was better in every single way. Totally gripping for all of the 100+ hours I spent on it. WOuld have loved to see this on Wii U. Dragon Quest 9 - A bit of a departure from the traditional DQ game but was still incredibly fun. Fragile - I really wanted to add this to the list but I'm not sure if it strictly counts as an RPG. This is the most atmospheric game I've ever played and one of the only ones to make me shed a tear. The soundtrack is haunting, the characters endearing and the eerie world is unnerving and beautiful at the same time.
