"Look at all that HDR goodness!!" 20 people in the room: "Oooooh", millions watching online: "". The problem was they didn't manage expectation going in, which is really important these days. It's why Nintendo Directs usually tell people exactly how long the next one will last, and what will be discussed. Or why companies pipe up before big events saying our game won't be there etc

Flashbacks to that horrid Playstation Meeting with Cerny at the PS4 Pro reveal... *shudder* Finally some news though
-
If Series X (I still think that's just a placeholder name) is more powerful than PS5 I'll probably get it at launch to play all the multiplatform games. It's the reason I bought an X and haven't touched my PS4 for a couple years. I can get Horizon 2 (not desperate to go back to that world) and God of War 2 later on if games is all that PS5 brings.

Nice! Loving all these updates, definitely making me want a new Xbox

I'd like to think that's too big a game for an indie showcase -
There's also a rumoured Indie World showcase coming this week, so if that's a thing, then they might announce on Tuesday and release on Thursday, today is the best day for AC reviews to get out of the way of the indie news. EDIT: D'oh.

The game that keeps giving -
Playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider, about a quarter of the way at least. It's tons of fun. Loads of collectibles but they've managed to make them interesting/fun. Enjoying the lower emphasis on combat, only done a few challenge tombs but again, lots of fun

Reviews dropping tomorrow (Monday) for this. Seems earlier than usual.

Andre doing great work as always. The whole thing seems really cool to me. I can understand people wanting the usual LEGO kits and builds instead but as someone who isn't into Lego it's nice seeing something new and different get released. That's what usually happens with Nintendo anyway.

Started and finished Bomb Chicken over the last day or two, really enjoyable. Lovely visuals and fun gameplay (if frustrating at times). Looking forward to Shovel Knight Dig (Nitrome collab) even more now

Feels like a response to every kid being glued to an iPad, and how they need to get some kind of interactivity and digital screen to keep modern day kids entertained.

I don't think I've ever sold a console before but I just sold my PS4 for £130. I haven't touched it since Spider Man a year and a half ago and I realised I'm not going to play anything on Playstation till PS5 comes out. It's helping fund my new Animal Crossing Switch Overall I'm pleased I bought it. There were some great games on it, God of War being the major one, but in the end having got an Xbox One X I was really only keeping it for the Sony exclusives that come out once every 6 months, and there haven't been any I'm keen on for a while. I didn't mention when selling it that it sounds like an A380 every time you play a game on it, but I'm hoping that's a common enough issue that I didn't have to.
-
Nintendo has proven that launching a console in Q1 can be a big positive, you get the initial surge in sales and then 6-9 months later get another big boost around Christmas. But what with Sony's total radio silence, who really knows, they could just release it with fewer units to go around.

I've never really understood some people's delight at seeing "E3 is dead", it's a sad time for me.
-
I imagine it's just a way of getting traffic to the GAME website. They know the slightest hint of a Nintendo Direct will get fans going crazy.
-
As an aside, I ordered an Animal Crossing Switch (because I'm weak and need those joy con colours), and so I'm planning on selling my current launch Switch + the Animal Crossing dock + a couple of joy con... if anyone on here is interested. I need to work out a price for eBay but I was thinking like £200 for both. Maybe that's too much, not sure.

Maybe the general reaction to 1-2 Switch and the poor (?) sales of Labo or even things like Codename Steam on 3DS has scared them a bit this generation. Especially when games in their usual franchises can sell 5-10 million plus.
-
ARMS, Ring Fit and Labo are all pretty original. And the industry as a whole is obsessed with re-releases at the moment, same with the film industry so that's just what's in at the moment.
-
Where is this coming from? They had that big Animal Crossing Direct a couple of weeks ago. That game will likely sell 15 million copies, they probably want that out the door first. Or a Direct will show up next week, who knows.

Glad you're enjoying it, I genuinely could happily spend hours just running around the Sand or Cap Kingdoms. It's control and movement perfection, from the masters at it.
