Hahaha sort of! Ah, London Girl.. those were funny times. Basically she's bi, but prefers the female form, which caused me some headfucks at the time but I've learnt to accept it. It doesn't change her feelings as she is primarily attracted to personality rather than appearance. It also means I get away completely scot free when talking about attractive women as we can compare.. I know that might be odd to some (it was to me!) but it's part of our natural relationship banter now. We've been together for a year and a bit now and have been living together for 5 months so I'd say things are going well! Well enough to drag me away from this place! I wish I had more time to visit these forums..

Sure, Peeps. I'll keep it open in a tab so I remember to check -
Yep, looks like you'll be able to contact customer services to reinstate the order, glitch in the system. Sounds good. Twitter team have always seemed to be helpful with these things.. now if only they could hire more people like that in head office/Customer Services :P

Fuck it, if there's a spot I'll play. Will try my best to be here for this. Edit: lol, that's what I get for coming back, checking my mentions and not the forum -
GAME. Fuck. Never had any issues with their online system until now - they've just cancelled my Borderlands 2 Loot Chest pre-order. Am very cry.

Happy birthday!

Today is a good day. Today I called in sick to work and went to a group job interview. And succeeded. Then I got to call the arcade and hand in my notice over the phone and stick it to the man, so to speak. I just had to post to let meeters who knew of my plight know and y'all and shit. I am the happy Oh, but I'll be a hated person.. now working in a call centre calling you up so you can buy BT Infinity because it's better and shit. But yeah. Fuck yeah. Onwards and upwards!

I moved to London! And as such had to leave my last job (which I actually quite liked) and am currently stuck working at Namco (which I really, really can't stand). I should probably come to N-E more often, familiar strangers on the internet not knowing what's going on in my life is weird But yeah someone should totally PM me and I'll give you details of the location and other cool stuffs.

Guuuys. I didn't realise this was tomorrow. I can't really make it, but I can offer you an attractive idea. I'm working the night shift at Namco. It's just by the London Eye. It's open until midnight. If you come, I will give you a free bag of tokens worth £50. I'll work some magic. And then you can bumper cars/bowl/video gamez all you want. Lemme know if anyone feels up to coming so I can prepare something..! Edit: PM me if it sounds like something you wanna do and I'll throw some details at you.

Hello, all.. It's been a while again but I thought I'd come here to see what the reaction has been to the closures, and it's pretty much what I anticipated to be honest. I'll get to a few posts now and answer them honestly to try and clear things up for you. For those of you asking about me, I myself am still in a job. Our store was not closed today. However, I must have had some bad karma stored up as today I was running a store that was in fact closing down and as such was in charge of closing the store at midday, receiving the information via phonecall, passing it on to the team, and informing all of the staff that as of this Friday they were to be made redundant with no consultation. I then had to cash up as if it were the end of the day, safe and till floats and all and keep the team together to help with sending stock away until Friday, when they'll all be let go. It was a horrible, awful situation to be in, one in which a Senior Sales Assistant shouldn't be put in in the first place - and nobody should have to do it in another store they don't even work at. Those poor staff members. So yes - today, I found I was safe for now, but had to do the heartwrenching job of telling the team I was with for the day they'd lost theirs having met some of them that very same morning. Under orders from above to continue trading as normal, yes. Can confirm we only found out about store credit stuff (gift cards/points etc) at about 1pm today. We were still doing trade-ins for credit as I closed down the store I was looking after, and they were still going through. About an hour later they switched off the service on the tills. It's still standing for now. However, the highest grossing store in our region was shut down today, so nobody is safe. We were stunned when we saw one closure in particular and it struck us all with a bit of fear. We've gone from having 20 stores down to, like, 12 in our region. Check this hilarious news story out for an example of Grainger Games and their exemplary standards they hold themselves to. I feel sorry for all the staff affected full stop. They are not the ones that made the mistakes, or caused this to happen, whatever anyones' skillset in retail. Whether they were the best SA or a fucknut behind a till they all lost their jobs for reasons which have nothing to do with them. As for GA/GS preference, it's intentional. I don't understand why people haven't been able to get the gist that Gamestation is targeted at gamers, whereas Game is for everyone and as such has to cater for everyone. Ultimately, though, they operate the same behind the scenes and follow the same practices (as dropped down by the regionals to both GA and GS stores). Not quite, both the GAME stores gone I believe? I remember trying to decide between Fable 2 and Fallout 3 when I was in the larger Game store, and going with Fable. And buying FIFA 09 in the one below Bookers for me and my flatmates to get hooked on. The store below Bookers had some really nice staff working there too. Real shame. Should be back tomorrow with "some changes" according to the GAME twitter. No, other than the massive sale both brands have going on as of 2 weeks ago. Not that there's much good stock left. The stores affected all closed today, for good. Stock is being sent back to the central warehouse (probably to be redistributed to the open stores.) Nope, the company is in administration and therefore cannot pay redundancy, however, the people in question can claim it from the state. Store sit-ins are allegedly happening in a couple of stores in Ireland now.. I hope they don't do themselves more harm than good and go and get a criminal record for trespassing. It sounds like a good idea to fight now (and I strongly believe people should stand up for their rights) but if they're not careful they'll only damage their futures and have themselves to blame. I probably won't be on tomorrow or Wednesday but any questions I'll try and get through them. Though for the most part I know as much as you I hate seeing misconceptions that paint the front line staff in a bad light when it's simply not true - everyone I know has been fighting to keep us going for the past few weeks and should be recognized as having done so.

I am moving out for the very first time on May the 1st. I am so very excited

Yeah, we priced up a huge sale on pre-owned today. Anything that was 12.99 is now 7.98, 7.99 is 4.98 and 4.99 is 1.98/2.98. Mint titles are going in to the sale tomorrow (not that any stores have those, lolol) Also got a slap on the wrist for my social networking ranting antics at work. Or rather, I posted the post above in my blog, and allegedly the higher ups are checking social networking sites to ensure shit isn't being thrown around.

You know all the memo's that get leaked online? That's the communication we get. I'm quite lucky in that my manager is quite close to the Regional Manager who has a good grasp on the situation.. and I have a good relationship with my manager. As such I do hear about things that H/O haven't mentioned to the public or the staff internally (certain stores closing for example - the stores have been instructed not to tell their customers they are closing). As for internal stuff, the entire company was just asked to perform hours reviews amongst the stores. Asking people if they would voluntarily reduce their contracts or move to other stores. It does seem like GAME are trying to stick around, in that new PC's for the back office in every store have just been rolled out and other business is continuing as normal (our annual stocktake went off without a hitch - extra hours included) so it doesn't look as if they're going to just roll over as suggested in the article over at the Express. But then again I wouldn't have imagined what would happen re: ME3 after the huge pre-order campaign we've been running. Absolutely. Easy outlet, I suppose. Yes, it's frustrating that you won't get your game. No, it's not my fault, but I will help you however I can to ensure you're not too pissed off. On the flipside however, we have had some customers come in who have been very supportive and friendly to us, wishing us the best and such. Those people keep us going. The economic shrinkage over the past few years hasn't helped, but there have been questionable decisions made at head office in recent years. Gamestation, however, was not one of those. I keep seeing that comment thrown around but business wise, it was the only way to go. Happy to answer any questions anyone has if I can. I do it all day at work except I run with the BS excuses that "We know as much as you do, I'm afraid".

It's amazing. This was one of my most anticipated titles for this year. Loved playing the demo and hyping about it in store. And now my enthusiasm has turned to dread and hatred for the game because of how much misery it's put us in at work and how much shit we're taking for something that isn't our (the store staff's) fault. It's not a decision I've consciously made. My head just automatically gets down when I even hear about ME3. It's so frustrating.

This is so much fun to deal with at work right now. Oh, wait. Had a woman come up to me today to express frustration that we wouldn't be stocking any more copies of SSX (but did she pre-order? No) and when I replied with an apology and the fact that we were frustrated by it too she came out with "Well you would be frustrated, yeah, you'll shut down" which is the last thing anyone wants to hear. I stopped serving her and went about my day but that comment stuck in my head for the rest of the day. I could've reached out and slapped her. So yeah, really fun times right now. We had an EA representative in our store today with one of the executives (I'm the Senior Sales at my branch, which just happens to be next to EA HQ) looking around. Could've asked him what nerve he had coming in but bit my tongue. Then to come online and see news stories that seemingly ring the bell for GAME and my employer and the flagship mainstream retail store for my favourite hobby, and it seems like I don't have much incentive to give a shit any more. Luckily I'm covering another store tomorrow (one that's closing in a month as a result actually - with some of the nicest people working there you'll ever meet who are all about to lose their job) so have their reputation to uphold or else I'd struggle to keep my enthusiasm and support up. Morale is at an all time low amongst us guys with a few of the team asking me directly if they should start looking for another job. You know how hard it is to try and stay positive when this is happening? This ended up being more of a rant than I'd anticipated. I guess I have a lot to say on the matter (after not posting for several months, it's amazing how quickly I feel like I can spill my heart on to the page) and a different perspective than most..

Just wondering if anyone actually picked this up? I'm totally loving it. Got it for £20 when someone traded it in at work, worth every penny. I'm a big fan of platformers though so this is right up my street, and yeah - it's tough! Sadly doesn't look like they included the original game (2D backgrounds and such) but the enhanced graphics look so nice that I'm not too worried. Plus, I have Cave Story + on Steam if I want some retro style goodness.
