Can someone please explain this DRM thing to me please.

That is easily the scariest thing I have ever seen.

Check that board, it's full of this shit. I reckon we go in there, make a new post and be totally honest and just try and beat them on the issues. Shouldn't be too hard. List Clinton's policies and contrast them with McCain's and ofcourse Palin. Should be a piece of cake. But maybe tomorrow. Edit: Get Oxigen to back us up as well, could get very funny

I can make time.

I really want to love this, since they're are obviously putting in so much effort. I really want to want this game but...I'm just not that excited. It looks like it's all about the presentation to me, and although I respect and admire everything about the presentation here, SMB3 would still be one of the greatest games ever even if it was done entirely in two colours. Out of all the genres the gaming world possesses, platforming is probably the genre where presentation is least important, and whereas presentation is a nice bonus, it is all about the gameplay. To me the platforming here looks loose, imprecise and (despite various graphical styles) lacking in variation. Now yes I haven't played it yet so I may be completely wrong, but right now, i'm not too excited.

When McCain named Palin I thought to myself, "nah no-one is going to buy that. Like there are people who are going to switch from Hilary to McCain just because Palin is a woman, HA!!" Unfortunately, yet again the internet provides. These people are actually going to vote for someone who is diametrically opposed to their own views just because a) Hilary lost and they're bitter or b) Palin resembles a female. Sometimes killing seems so easy.

Hey, bad news guys, i'm gonna have to have my name taken off the list. Turns out they want me moving in on the 21st, not the 20th, so i'm not going to be able to make it. Next time maybe.

Why Zelda Wii will probably be the best game ever.
LazyBoy replied to Edjamakated's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Am I still alone in wanting Zelda to sleep for a bit? Leave the game a generation or two, make us want it, then come back with the Metroid Prime of Zeldas. -
So who's bringing the camera? Because mine is...er....in the repair....place. Yeah

No really mate, Bruce Lee was a legend because he broke the tabu of bringing Kungfu to the West, but by no means was he either the greatest martial artist of all time or even the greatest martial artist of his generation. Not by a long way. He was not some prodigy child of the arts, the only difference between him and any other student was that he liked the fame. Let's just say i've seen some fascinating sh*t. I think this is where you may be misunderstanding (and please don't think I'm trying to be patronising here). The martial arts aren't about inflicting pain (not true martial arts at least). It's about discipline of the mind, body and spirit. Control over oneself, and the correct way to live. You may look at kickboxing and think "that's not art", and no it's not. But you're looking at the wrong stuff. The great martial arts are about far more than petty competition or flashy jumps. They're about the beauty that lies in training, persistence, endurance, discipline and respect. That is why it is art.

We launch into some fairly fruitless discussions on this forum but this one has got to take some sort of cake.

It does the job. Then why comment on it? You've obviously never studied it. And yeah Muay Thai does contain the spiritual side, i've met Muay Thai masters who taught me about it. They talk off the spirit of the warrior and protector and their role its spirit in the greater community. Really, trust me on this one. You mean the same Bruce Lee that died prematurely? The great-grandmaster of my school lived to 106, and was winning medals at 94. He observed the true nature of the art.

I wasn't arguing whether it was an 'artistic' art, and no i'm not talking about fine arts. I'm talking about martial arts. A quick look in the Oxford dictionary provides two definitions of the word art that can apply to the martial arts themselves. 4 (arts) subjects of study primarily concerned with human culture Most schools of the martial arts teach that learning to be a great fighter comes second to learning how to become a great human being, and the elements of human culture that allow this. 5 a skill Well that's pretty obvious isn't it. Wow, you know your movies but you know shit all about the martial arts. Firstly Muay Thai does have all that 'philosophy' and stuff beyond what you saw in Ong Bak and now makes you think your an expert on. In fact the art of Muay Thai is extensive and contains multiple progressions, meditations, internal styles and theories. Also, that 'pretension' you refer to is a major cornerstone of Eastern culture, containing wisdom and learning passed down over thousands of years on the subject of human nature and the natural laws. If I were you I would really refrain from commenting on, especially degrading something you have never studied and don't understand. If you'd like to learn more about it I could refer you to some reading.

Hell yeah baby, I also get to do the warrior speech from the new Rambo. It's part of the package.

I learnt all I know in China. Sorry about that, and I don't know of anyone in England who'll teach you (well apart from me, but i'm a distance away). Those are the Chinese arts though. The only other classes i've heard of were classic Japanese sword drawing that a mate of mine learnt in Manhattan. And the rules come from my Master. I actually own a broadsword and longsword (and other weapons) already, but they're merely for practice. Once I am competent in their use i'm allowed a real sword, but not before then. Those are the rules.
-
Swordplay is a martial art. Right there in the English language. Martial art. Argue back all you want but I'll take the words of the writers of the greatest dictionaries over you any day. Sorry you can't win this one. I've never owned a true sword, I need three years of training with the broadsword and four with the battlefield sword before I am allowed to own a practical one. But even the cheap blunt swords I practice with now are at least a part of the art: the relationship with the sword and its wielder, the space they share, the advantages and disadvantages to the co-operation, the power they lend each other and the discipline inherent in familiarizing with one another. Additionally the symbolism of the sword in Chinese culture especially (a vast majority of traditional houses hang them in the main room as a sign of protection against evil spirits and danger in a physical form) means that every sword, even though most are not art in there own right (though some are as a result of the forging process, which if you've never seen you'll never understand) are at least a part of the art.
-
OW, if you won't admit to the sword itself being art, would you except it being a part of art, as the katana is to the art of sword drawing/swordplay.
-
They just don't get it sometimes. I think it was Tommy Cooper who got up there in front of the Yanks, starting doing his act, and the stage manager comes up to him and says "sorry sir, but the audience don't think your magic tricks are very good." Wow

What got me was when Rice and Bush came out and said "you can't just invade countries in the 21st century"........ummmmm, IRAQ!!!! God there ain't a word strong enough to describe how much I hate the Bush administration. I can't believe the hate people give the Russians as well. Talk about clever people, I mean their national sport is Chess! All the respect in the world for the Russians. Well tell me when you're going over, you're going to need to know a few things before you go. There are chimps in the zoo that would be an improvement over Bush (they would dribble less), but that doesn't mean I want a primate having control over the biggest stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world.

Oh I know, it was an innocent answer, sorry if I came off otherwise. It's a complicated country, and one we can learn a lot from. There's so much to it that if I begin to list the reasons for why I like the country the introduction would be 2000 words long. I recommend everyone visit it, but should you do so be sure to PM me first.

You know what Shino, I don't want to bog down this conversation too much, so if you want to do this in detail we'll make another thread. But in short it's the people and their culture that makes me miss China and dislike England (and to a greater extent the USA). Nothing like English dairy though.

I've been back a month, wish I had never left.
