This is my problem. Its not so much the fact Ubisoft have chosen to release the vast amount of casual titles, but the fact that the standard is so poor, so very, very poor. Casual gamers do deserve their own franchises, their own titles - I don't expect them to play and enjoy Resident Evil or Zelda- but they deserve more than bollocks Ubisoft have shat out over the past two years.

I've given this a good go, and i'm still not impressed- sorry Mr T. I like it in principle, the idea of it. But, ultimately, I just don't think waggle controls work for the type of game, you need a 'point' a digital click or strike to meet the requirement to keep the rhythm. Seems to me Nintendo promoting the idea of 'just shake to make music' is glossing the flaws of the game.

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles

I think you're probably right. Code Veronica isn't that old, not really old enough to benefit from a visual remake.- 415 replies

Thats a great price. Buy it. Come on people, at that price you'd be daft not to buy it.
-
Just keep spending. Until Nintendo sort out some decent titles, downloadable or not, the DSi is pretty worthless. A handful of Brain Training and Wario minigames makes not a console worth buying.

I honestly had no problem with the controls- bar the whole jump thing (which i never used). If anyone ever wishes to revisit this online, PM me and let me know.

I think i just wanted bikes, what can i say, i'm old and stuck in my ways! I think for the kind of racing game it is, bikes would have been a better choice visually, with riders kicking their legs etc. There's only so much you can do with a spinning truck.

But we've only seen 3 of the 10 games. Sure, Dog Frisbie and pencil sharpening sound shit, but Jet Ski is surely worth the asking price.

i've just rented this, and i'm decidedly unimpressed. However, willing to give it a little more time... Is anyone able to send me their video creations to see what is possible?

These are my thoughts exactly- despite loving ExciteTruck, i wasn't that keen on the whole inclusion of trucks- so the addition of 'bots is just a slap in the face for me. Gears of Pillow Fluff wouldn't be included in a Gears of War franchise, so why Nintendo couldn't have created a new IP- or resurrected Stunt Race FX- is anyones guess.

Stepping off the bandwagon of pure hatred - but i'm not quite setting sail on the love boat. I'm just not liking this whole bugs thing. Now, if they'd opted for "Stunt Race FX" style vehicles, or Bond-type gadget cars, i'd be inclined to like it more. But i suppose thats my personal preference. Back peddling? No, just stalling.
-
My hate is unjustified because i've not seen a thing. But thats half the problem, with only a few weeks to go, no screens, no footage, it doesn't bode well. And i'm genuinely hating all this party game stuff, i really am. But if it does turn out to be good, then find, i'll happily eat my hat (if i had one). I'm just not feeling it at the moment.

Virtual Boy's biggest problem is Gunpei said "its nowhere near ready yet"; Nintendo said "never mind, some poor sap will buy it", Nintendo then fired Gunpei when it gave kids headaches and bleeding brains. That said, i'm desperate to find one- can't justify the £80 on ebay though...
-
I'm going to jump on the bandwagon of unjustified hate with this one. It just seems like one of those dodgy third party Mario Kart rip offs, the ones we usually avoid, but this time made by Nintendo themselves who are so convinced of its success they slap the once cherished 'Excite' brand on it in an attempt to drag it, kicking and screaming, past the 250k sales mark.

Got me. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes as i read that.

I swear at our Maddy's scan she was wearing a top hat. congratulations to you both!

Thats good news. I absolutely loved De Blob. I've mentioned that had a problem jump, and it would've been great to save your City's colour.

I've said it before and i'll say it again. There is no need for Nintendo to be thinking of a time scale to replace Wii. If Wii is selling, it'd be crazy to start confusing the market by having Wii HD or whatever (look what happened with the whole 'third pillar' thing). However, do we think Nintendo couldlaunch a HD console in 2011? Personally, i'd be surprised if somewhere in Nintendo lied a HD console, pretty much ready to launch- possibly with an original launch date of December 06 - but put on Hiatus with the cheaper (current) Wii released instead to save costs and risk. But i don't see Wii sales dropping this year. If they did drop towards the end of the year, 2010 would, in this instance, become a 'transitional' year for Nintendo's internal teams, with many starting to develop titles for a HD console (probably with a two-three year lead time)- meaning 2012/13 for a Nintendo HD machine. Assuming Wii sells strong through 2010/11 it could be longer- 2013/14. When i see Wii's price drop to the equivalent of £99, i'll expect Wii HD 18 months- two years from then.

Nintendo had a poor year in all honesty, there's no escaping it. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii and WiiFit were completed in 2007- and just localised throughout early 2008. Their only major releases were therefore Disaster (major?) Wario Land and Animal Crossing (can't think of anymore). 2008 was piss poor, and totally shocking. However 2008 allowed me the opportunity to try out some decent third party efforts- Boom Blox, De Blob- unfortunately, these would slip under the radar if the year was packed with N-releases. I have full confidence Nintendo will be back on form this year. Back on subject for a moment, i'm questioning why Nintendo are releasing this. The one complain people do seem to have is that- for classic first person shooters- the analogue sticks are too close together. Could this be the start of some of the N64 shooters hitting VC?

Recently, we had a powercut whilst saving Animal Crossing. Nothing seems to have corrupted after that.

I jumped back into this last night- forgot how insanely difficult it was. Originally, i opened up Diamond Cup (after completing only 'novice' and 'normal' in the other cups) but can't get past the 2nd race. Mental. I'd love to open up the AX tracks, but doubt i'll ever do it. The first thing that struck me though is how unsuitable a motion controlled F-zero would be- or at least in its GX form (which is really what we want). Even if it came Nunchuk'd, i think you'd loose some precision compared to a standard pad- namely due to the fact the analogue stick isn't anchored to the rest of the controller. Unless a Wii version came bundled with a Classic Pro Pad style controller i'd probably be rather nervous about it.

I have seen that one before, but the problem i see is that you'll look a goof- and i don't think its that 'saleable' using ones eyes would effectively do the same without the goofball look.
