Happy to see people enjoying Gamepass. It's been a fantastic couple of weeks for the service and sure, the launch of the Series S|X didn't come with that blockbuster title but Gamepass has put out a strong lineup of titles on console that I'd say has more than made up for it. Personally, I've been enjoying jumping back into Destiny 2 with the Beyond Light expansion. I've played far more of that than I thought I would but really been enjoying jumping in and doing my bounties, strikes and crucible content. Not touched the raid, nor am I likely to, but its been a lot of fun playing it again as the gunplay is still fantastic. The next gen update comes out this week so think I'll check it out (on my PS5 as I don't have a Series console). Also dabbled with both Star Renegades and Gears Tactics. Its been a good year for strategy games (Desperados 3 is also a superb games that worth a shot) and these two are both great from what I've played so far. I'm particularly impressed with Gears Tactics. I've played all the Gears titles and never been too bothered for them (though I do think Gears 5 has been the one I've enjoyed the most. I know, that's probably heresy amongst the series fans) but there's something about Tactics that's hooking me. The production values are fantastic and its just a really well playing strategy game. Well worth a shot if you enjoyed Xcom. I have been wishing that Crusader Kings 3 would come to XCloud as I'd love to play it. My PC definitely won't run it and with it being on Gamepass for PC I had hoped but I don't think it supports a controller sadly so looks to be out of the question. Hopefully they'll allow XCloud usage on a PC soon enough, like Amazon Luna, Stadia and GeForce Now. Looking forward to trying Call of the Sea. Do like a good first person puzzle game and its been a while since I've had one to play so fingers crossed it turns out to be a good one.

What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!
Ganepark32 replied to Aneres11's topic in General Chit Chat
Some recent-ish tracks that are some of my favourites for the year: Big fan of Future Islands and this track is a fantastic closer to the album. Hadn't heard from Lianne La Havas in a long time but this track really struck me. Very nice. First time listening to This Is The Kit with their new album, Off Off On, but I fell in love with it in first listen. This song in particular is superb. -
So I had my release dates mixed up and thought it was releasing next week but turns out Haven, the next game by The Game Bakers who made the fantastic Furi, is out tomorrow on PS5 (as well as PC and Xbox consoles). Anyone picking it up? I played the demo through the summer on Xbox and enjoyed what I played, leaving me intrigued enough to jump in for more and though its releasing on Gamepass for Xbox consoles, I'm set to pick it up tomorrow as Twin Mirror from Dontnod (which I was set to buy) looks like it might be a bit of a dud. And plus, with having got Furi through PS+ and really enjoying that, they're more than deserving of my money if this ends up anywhere near as good as that was. Curious to see how it plays out long term gameplay wise but looking forward to jumping in. And there's also more music from Danger in the game so what's not to like. Its releasing at a price point of $24.99/€24.99 so not bad price wise. Expecting to match that in £ but would be pleasantly surprised to see it hit £19.99.

As a fan of the original: HELL YES!!! Just hook this straight to my veins. And if the soundtrack is as killer this time round as in the original, then it'll just be great. Gameplay looked a bit rough round the edges, definitely looks to be the Switch version with that frame rate. Still plenty of time to polish but definitely interested to see how the PS4 version runs as I'll probably play it through BC on my PS5. But as I said, hell yeah!!! Can't wait.

For those trophy hunters out there: If anyone managed to grab the platinum on No Man's Sky on the PS4 and wants to grab an easy platinum for the PS5 version, download the PS4 version of the game to your PS5. Jump into the game and on the menu for starting a single player game, select the option to import save to the PS5 version (which uploads your save with the platinun data to their servers), uninstall the PS4 version and install the PS5 version, jump into that version of the game and download your save file by clicking the tiny arrow symbol in the bottom left when you get the option between single player and multiplayer and then wait and watch as all the trophies will unlock for the PS5 version without having to actually jump into the game.

I played the level earlier and the haptics for the bit you mention and a little later are incredible. I'm purposefully taking it slow with the game given that its short but its a fantastic showcase for the controller and just what can be done with it. I doubt we'll see many devs go to the same depths as Team Asobi have with this but if we see similar implementation in other first party titles (as well as third party but I know that that's where its less likely) then this generation is going to be a truly unique experience for gamers on the PS5. I'm already excited at the prospect of GoW: Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West and how they'll make use of the Dualsense. But yeah, its a superb little game and it being a pack in is insane. I'm looking forward to playing more and for the inevitable next game which sounds to be on the way too.

Initial impressions are that the controller is incredible. Using it and feeling that haptic feedback and getting used to the adaptive triggers in Astro's Playroom was just such a joy (it also helps that that game is just chock full of charm). Little things like the feeling of walking over glass, skating on ice and the feeling of the spring suit in Astro feel so immersive and just add that element of texture to playing that I never thought I'd want but couldn't imagine going without now. Jumped on briefly into The Pathless and the way the tension builds in the triggers for the bow felt great. Likewise for No Man's Sky, where using the mining beam for long periods builds up tension in the triggers as well. The Dualsense really is a massive step up compared to other controllers and I'm only scratching the surface with it. But for all the talk in the build up to launch, it definitely lives up to it. Its the real deal. Console wise, I'm still getting to grips with the UI. I'll admit at the moment that it isn't as intuitive as I'd like (there's a few more steps needed to quit out of a game compared to on the PS4 and while its only a small thing, its a small step backwards) and it doesn't feel as smooth to navigate for finding things but that'll iron itself out as I get used to it over time. I do have a slight issue with how storage works. I've got 6 games installed but I've got nearly 14GB taken up in storage as "Other". Looking at it, it says its for how the system runs games and such but that its dependent on how you use the system. I'm hoping this isn't going to keep building up as I can see that "Other" category for storage taking up a good chunk of the SSD which could be a pain down the line. But those niggles aside, the console is great. It runs so quietly, a massive improvement over the PS4, the controller is incredible and the quick loading is just brilliant for jumping in to something quickly. I do wish the console wasn't so big but I'll take it for the quiet play. Definitely met and exceeded my expectations. Now to jump back on and try out AC Valhalla and Bugsnax before settling down to watch season 1 of Barry later on.

Delivered about 15 minutes ago: Just got it put of the box and oh boy, is it big. Its bigger than I thought and where I was going to put it, well it won't fit. Waiting on a new TV unit but I'll make do with putting it somewhere just now. Dualsense feels nice in hand though. Really sturdy, quite wide but nicely built. A lot better than the Dualshock 4 that came with the PS4 launch consoles that's for sure. Away to get it all updated and start downloading but yay!!! Next gen begins now. Enjoy everyone when yours arrives.

Just checked my delivery again, now set for delivery between 8:30am and 12:30pm. The tracker map shows it as 3 stops away, but those 3 stops have it up in Grampian. Closer to Aberdeen than Dundee but looks like it'll be here before midday Should be set up and ready to go for the afternoon and I can't wait. Ridiculously excited to play on the thing, especially as this'll be the first time I've picked up a PlayStation at launch.

For those UK based hoping to snag a console this morning, these look to be the only places that'll have stock today with the times they go live (and I imagine there won't be much to go round): Good luck to anyone looking to get one. Fingers crossed for you. I've woken up early to find my console is at the final delivery point as of half 2 this morning, up in Aberdeen. I'm down in Dundee so if that's being delivered from there today, then its going to be a long day waiting. Hopefully its moved on to the local Dundee distribution centre as I really don't want to spend my whole day waiting and listening for the door. Hope everyone's arrive on time and without bother. And most of all, enjoy next gen gaming everyone.

The Game Awards 2020 (10th December 2020)
Ganepark32 replied to Julius's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I know he won't win it, but for the sheer amount of work that Logan Cunningham put in to all those performances in Hades he really does deserve to win Best Performance. Likelihood is that it'll probably go to Ashley Johnson (could you imagine after all the backlash if Laura Bailey won for her performance of Abby? The Internet would melt). Some disappointing omissions and some weird choices. I personally wouldn't put Carrion up for Best Indie (that place could have easily gone to say Creaks from Amanita Design) and I think Doom Eternal's place on that GOTY list is shaky considering some of the other games around it, like Half Life Alyx, Spiritfarer, Wasteland 3 and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. I'm also shocked that Kentucky Route Zero wasn't nominated for best narrative, thats a glaring omission. But overall, not bad. I'd love to see Hades clear up, especially taking Best Performance, Best Indie and Best Soundtrack (Darren Korb deserves the win here so much as his work for Supergiant Games is always incredible). Likewise, I'd like to see KRZ and Ori win their respective nominations as well. That strategy/sim category is stacked. Should be Crusader Kings 3 but Desperados 3 is also a good shout. -
My accounts been charged this morning too should get a dispatch email from Amazon later today but looks like I'll definitely be here tomorrow yay!!! Amazon seem to do 2 delivery windows up my area, one up to about midday and then from midday onwards. I can only hope for an early delivery but really it could come at any point up. Still very happy that it'll be here tomorrow and can't wait to get my hands on the Dualsense and see what its all about with Astro, Bugsnax, AC Valhalla and The Pathless.
-
Got my email from Amazon confirming release day delivery too though its been saying that since I ordered. 3 days to go and this is pretty much me right now: I'm excited but more for just making sure I get the thing on launch day as its not something that I'm just sitting waiting on getting delayed. Only ever pre-ordered consoles in store so a new and anxious experience waiting for it to be delivered. Reading some of what's being said o ResetEra though about the console downloading the PS4 versions of games and having to be factory reset to even download the PS5 versions and such has me a bit apprehensive but hopefully there's a firmware update for the console to sort those issues out. Likewise for games as there seems to be quite a bit of crash reports for pretty much all games so far. Still, roll on Thursday. Can't wait to play Astro, AC Valhalla and The Pathless.

Oh, the Christmas cards are really nice, lovely art work. Haven't gotten around to sorting that side of Christmas out (have finished all the other shopping though) but really like the look of them, especially the Warm Wishes card. Possibly moving house this week/next week but will see what the missus says as they'd be great for the small amount of family I usually send cards around. ----------- After all the issues at my flat, we had a flat viewing on Tuesday that was awful but I've not long come back from another viewing this morning and the flat is just perfect. It means moving back into Dundee City centre, as opposed to being more rural, but that might help woth job prospects seeing as I'd have more access what with not driving. The flat is also just amazing, fully furnished (and its pretty much done to the taste that my partner and I have), no issues or problems with it or anything and its quiet and all for a measly £380 a month (I was shocked at how good it was and that its fully furnished in the city centre for that. Hell, there'seven 2 bottles of Prosecco in the fridge that we get with the flat as well). We phoned to say we wanted to take it literally a minute after leaving the viewing. We submitted our application and we're just hoping that we get it as we need to get away from the downstairs neighbour that's causing bother and because its just such a nice flat. So fingers crossed we hear some good news back. Would mean moving next week but I can deal with that as the flat really is great.
-
Thought it would be around May so very happy to see it confirmed. Late birthday present for me. Excited to play and nice to hear that at least in the US, its going to be $60. Hope that translates to £50 here, though I'll be honest, as a fan of Arkane I'd happily pay whatever they're asking for it as the game looks great.

Hopefully there's no bother with it @Julius. It's strange, I've heard so many horror stories about Yodel and Hermes (especially the former but with the latter, I was well aware of the throwing parcels into vans before that video circulated earlier this week) but from the times I've had them deliver to me, there's been no issues. I definitely seem to be in the minority there with regards to that though, more issues with DPD and Royal Mail than anyone else. Got my games sorted for launch. I've stuck with just AC Valhalla and The Pathless for now as I'll have Bugsnas with PS+ and Astro's Playroom to play as well as replaying some of the PS Plus Collection games. With the problems with my current flat and neighbours, not wanting to over extend money wise in case I end up finding a flat in the coming weeks but Miles Morales may get picked up too. Nervous about my Amazon pre-order. With having the digital edition pre-ordered on the restock, I'm hoping that doesn't mean a delay in it getting here for me on launch day. Still says it'll arrive on launch but last time I pre-ordered something from Amazon, it came a week after the item in question released (it was a book I'd ordered as a gift for the missus). Would've been quicker buying on release and wouldn't have had to pay the extra for postage in that case. So yeah, a bit nervous Amazon will actually get it to me on time.

Reviews are starting to hit for this, plenty of 8s which is where I'dhoped this would fall. Sounds like its turned out well so for those looking for something cheaper at launch that has quality, this might be worth a look. I'm very excited to play it next week when my PS5 comes. This and AC Valhalla are currently my two launch games (Astro's Playroom too but that's pre-loaded) and I'm chomping at the bit to dig into both. This next week is going to be agony waiting for the console to get here, even with new Destiny content and a bunch of other stuff I have to play courtesy of Gamepass on my Xbox One.

Hope everyone who's picking one up today enjoys it. Saw someone mention on ResetEra that CeX were offering £500 for a Series X in cash. Had a look earlier and yeah they are but those poor people who end up buying one out of there if they have kids or desperately want one but didn't manage to get hold of a pre-order or the stock this morning as they're selling them for £625!!! Bloody chancers they are. God only knows what they'll be offering for a PS5 when they release next week. Seriously hope no one takes them up and buys one from them at that price as that's just a disgusting mark up even if there is high demand.

EA Play games, Tetris Effect Connected and Gears Tactics are all available now on Gamepass on Xbox (which ever console you have). Looks like both Star Ware Jedi: Fallen Order and Planet Coaster will join later today alongside Destiny: Beyond Light launching into Gamepass at around 6pm UK time. Might not be the best launch lineup for the Series S|X consoles but Gamepass is certainly going to give a lot to play for anyone picking up. I'm not grabbing a new console but I've already got Gears Tactics and Bad Company 2 downloaded, have Dead Space 2 downloading and have a couple other things queued up. Got a flat viewing today and probably some packing but if I get some time later on, I've got plenty of new stuff courtesy of Gamepass to play. Edit: Tetris Effect Connected reminds me of why I hate the d-pad on the Xbox One controller. God damn does it suck. Game is still amazing but having to use that chappy d-pad really isn't the best way to play it. I hope the d-pad on the Series S|X controller is better.

So situation in my building has deteriorated to the point we're actively looking to move out. Got a flat viewing for somewhere just along the road for Tuesday with the intention that we're taking it, viewing is pretty much formality and my sister in law and her partner are helping get money together to get us out of the current flat as soon as possible because of events that have transpired. Got the overflow sorted on Tuesday only to find there was no hot water Wednesday. Thought that it wasn't a big deal as with the boiler getting turned off to fix the overflow, I just thought that it had reset itself and it would be back to normal for Thursday morning. Cue Thursday morning and I decided to check if we had hot water, nope. None at all despite nothing tripped on the fuse board and all necessary switches for the boiler heating up being on. Emailed and phoned the letting agency multiple times Thursday and Friday, no answers on either end. So we've been without hot water since Wednesday due to another issue thats appeared with the boiler from it being switched off, possibly the thermostat but we don't know. So tearing our hair out with the letting agency. That's not the worst of it though. Thursday we were stripping wallpaper in the kitchen and I was putting boarder tape round a wall on the bathroom for painting around lunch time. Cue the man in the downstairs property going ape shit, club music full volume, actively thumping the roof and screaming "Get a job you smelly bustards!". Tried to go and have a talk with him to be civilised but no answer at the door. This continued for 15 minutes at which point I decided I'd try again to speak to him and find out what's going on. I get out of my flat and I'm at the top of the stairs and he starts slamming the front door and then he comes tearing out the flat up the stairs at me. Partner jumps in between and he starts going off about how it sounds like cannon balls on the floor again and f-ing this and that. Partner is trying to speak to him but he's actively trying to get passed her to take a swing at me, pointing at me and saying he wants a word with me, dismissing my partner by saying "Away you go you fucking woman!" and waving his hand in her face. Man from another downstairs property comes in and starts swearing and tearing about whats going on and how its a disgrace, again having a go at my partner despite me trying to get passed her to stop them having a go at her, and then eventually the guy starts to quiet down while we try and explain what's happening. He's used to being above everyone and admits he has a temper and over reacted but isn't really taking anything in when I'm telling him we're having to tip toe round the flat because the floorboards are creaking (because its cold in the flats, there's no DPC or insulation in the walls or floorboards and because they're old). He eventually says we shouldn't have to be tip toeing but I get the gist he doesn't really care as he wants things to be a certain way. Anyway, we have a talk and leave it there, but I don't think he's been receptive to what we've said and its just left us feeling on edge and me and my partner especially angry at how she was treated. We later found out from one of the upstairs neighbours the guy's back story. Ex-army, tours in the Gulf and Afghanistan and may well have a criminal record as he was notorious in a certain really rough bar in Dundee for going in and actively seeking out fights (from the sounds of it, he got beaten up more often than not). We've been told to steer clear because of how volatile he is. So having to move as we can't reasonably live with having to tip toe round everywhere. Can't really do anything at home as we don't know if he'll escalate and kick the door in or worse. Just not safe to be where we are and my partner isn't eating properly because of the stress so we're really hoping that if things go to plan, will have paper work and keys to a new place by middle of this coming week and can then start getting stuff moved to get away from things (we've already git people lined up to help, including a few older guys who can help try and keep the peace if the guy downstairs kicks off). We'll still have the keys for the current place for a month but at least we'll be living elsewhere and can get the painting that we were starting on Thursday finished and get the place tidied for handing the keys back.

New gameplay trailer put out on the Belgian PlayStation Twitter account showing some of the other areas of the game that haven't been covered by last weeks previews: Continues to look great. Can't wait to play this while other bits download.

Yeah, we've been told to take down times of when he's making noise so have started doing it. Its a bit of a pain but if he's going to actively go out of his way to make noise and keep waking me up (as happened again this morning), then I'll need evidence if I'm to take it further. Not sure if anyone else is having the exact same issues as us but I know fhat others in the building aren't too happy about his noise either and how he's trying to claim the back garden for the building, which is all communal space, as his own personal garden. He's made a concerted effort to get to know all the neighbours in the building bar us and one other flat where they don't get on (and that has to do with the use of the front garden which he isn't happy about which again has nothing to do with him). Do need to see what others in the building say but obviously with everything going on pandemic wise, and very few going out with masks on, not the best but will see. Did manage to wrangle the letting agency to get someone out for the boiler. Just threatened them with legal action and would you believe that someone appeared and fixed it in under an hour (and that included a trip out to get a new ballcock for the boiler). So at least we've solved that. Didn't bother informing him that it was fixed because of his attempt at intimidation the other night but there was a faint knock at the door during dinner that I suspect was him but I wasn't answering. We have been looking to see if there is another flat going in the area as him offsetting his noise and complaining about us is impacting on how we do stuff in the flat. Having to change my entire exercise routine because he was thumping the roof at me doing step ups on a box step (when there wasn't even that much noise). Not much going and shouldn't have to move but can't be dealing with someone like that below us if that's how he's going to act. Glad it wasn't anything serious with your girlfriend Cube. Can't imagine having to drop my partner off at A&E at the moment (bad enough when she heads off for night shift in a care home with everything going on and with it being a home that takes a lot of extreme dementia cases in top of Huntington's, Schizophrenia and any other neurodegenerative disorder you can think of) but sucks that the migraines are something she'll have to deal with going forward. Hopefully she'll manage to find something to minimise them.

There's a massive sale of mostly new indie titles that's started today on the PS Store and running to November 21st. PSPrices has it all listed, with 800+ games up on sale. Some highlights: - Celeste £6.39 (This hasn't been on sale since November 2018 apparently so if you've been waiting, definitely worth picking up) - Creaks £11.19 - Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition £12.59 - Manifold Garden £11.99 - Outer Wilds £12.34 - Return of the Obra Dinn £11.39 - Soma £2.63 - Spelunky 2 £12.79 - The Talos Principle: Deluxe Edition £2.99 There's obvious a ton more than that on sale but just some picks that are worth picking up even with the advent of next gen looming. Definitely recommend picking up Soma at that price. Was happy to dee it getting a lot of talk over Halloween other places, has one of the best endings to a game this gen, much like how Outer Wilds also has one of the best endings (and is one of my favourite games just generally this generation).

Update to my problems with the overflow/pressure relief pipe on my property. Letting agency, despite repeated attempts to phone them (no answer each time) and several emails was not getting back to me. Yesterday evening, the owner of the downstairs property who has been causing bother appeared at my door under the pretense that my partner and I are causing too much noise (he put it that it was like cannon balls being dropped every 20 minutes even though were were sitting watching TV for much of the day and not moving around the property. My partner did accidentally drop a bottle of shampoo just before he came up though so clearly we're terrible people for doing that ). He quickly moved on from that and shot to questioning me about when the boiler was getting fixed. We've never talked to him and he hadn't talked to us about anything. We only found out about the issue with the pipe because he was mouthing off outside the property (shouting I might add to go along with the rest of the noise he's been creating in the last 3 months but again, its us that he's had to put up with for 3 months of noise despite no complaints from other neighbours in the building) yet he's adamant its our boiler and demanded to know when it was getting fixed. Told him we're trying to get the letting agency to sort things but he was being dismissive and then started to threaten getting legal aid because he's getting condensation on the inside of his £450 windows that he had to replace on his £40,000 studio flat (for some reason he felt a need to labour these points home not that it makes any difference other than he's a mug for paying that price for the property where we are as every other flat has sold for £30,000 or less in recent years. And for paying that much for 3 windows, I'd love to know why he's painted one of them on the inside that you can see from the car park, either dodging tv licence or doing something on the side). He was getting quite aggressive but saying he isn't trying to cause bother because, "You know, we have to live with each other", but still trying to intimidate me. I just listened and reiterated that we're trying repeatedly to get in touch with the letting agency and will continue to do so so we can get it sorted as soon as possible. He eventually ran off, however, after my partner appeared at the door as well (he'd been trying really hard to maintain eye contact and be intimidating but bottled it when my missus showed up) saying "We'll see." Didn't bother to go into all the bother he's been causing as I'm not away to do that unless absolutely necessary. Anyway, shot a strongly worded email off to the owner of the letting agency hoping for a reply again while my partner phoned but no dice. Has my partner send the same email I sent from her address and wouldn't you know it, she got a reply. Looks like they're not going to respond to my emails (she's the lead named tenant on file, though my name is also on there) and they have in the past blocked my number when trying to resolve the shower tray issue we had a few years back. All we got back is that they'll get a plumber out but so far we've heard nothing. So we're now stuck in limbo with the looming threat of the man downstairs seeking legal action even though we're doing everything we can to resolve the issue, all while he saunters about the building like he owns it, creating noise at any time of the day he likes and we're to put up with it (I've been woken up several times at 4am with really loud bangs followed by laughing so I know he's purposefully making noise to be disruptive beyond the thumping House music at 2pm while my partner sleeps for night shift). Its a bit of a nightmare to be honest. We can't afford to move at the moment either. So yeah, we're terrible neighbours causing too much noise and ignoring a problem with our property that only started when he moved in

Spider-Man: Miles Morales (12th November 2020)
Ganepark32 replied to Julius's topic in Other Consoles
Well this has certainly sold me on the game if I can play the whole game fro start to finish using this suit. The animation effects for using the suit are just so damn good. They've nailed that Into the Spiderverse look. Edit: non-Twitter version for everyone:
