  1. I've moved my musings about robotic Yoshi's and obscure goings on in the world of games from JoystickJunkies to the beautiful (and soon to be changed) URL of... http://josh64128.blogspot.com/ I wanted to do a gaming blog but there are so many it seemed kinda pointless which is why I went from talking about upcoming games and the industry itself to instead finding interesting, crazy and weird things in the world of games. Also, this has nothing (sadly) to do with Comedy Rainbow ;D What do you guys think? What do you like/dislike/think should change?
  2. I like how welcoming the people of N-Europe are to new members :p
  3. What?! I've never had such fun playing a Sonic game and as it stands, Colours has to be one of my favourite games of 2010 behind Galaxy 2.
  4. I quite like Returns but it really doesn't feel like a DKC game, though I was kinda expecting that anyway after hearing Retro decided to omit most of the characters and enemies. The most disappointing thing for me is the controls, I just can't get on with the waggle controls - Which is odd as I had no problem with the spin attack in Galaxy. The game felt awful using the nunchuk but luckily it's not as unresponsive and 'slippy' using the wiimote sideways. Another huge disappointment is the music, I was very glad to hear classic tunes returning but they all seem scaled back and resorted to distant beats, they don't have a patch on the originals. The only song in the entire game that stuck out for me was the return of Equatic Ambience but it felt so out of place. Overall, my 1995 self is feeling immense disappointment but when I forget about the previous games and treat this as a game in its own right, I can enjoy it as being a fun platformer. Though I think nothing will ever make up for DK's ridiculous Scooby Doo like voice (though that isn't the fault of this game as I remember he had the same awful voice in MK Wii)
  5. MadWorld is too niche, it wouldn't have done well on any console.
  6. " The Xbox 360 was the best selling version of Call of Duty: Black Ops in the game's opening week. Out of the 2 million sold copies in the UK, 55 percent were Xbox 360 versions and 42 percent PlayStation 3. The PC, DS and Wii versions took the remaining 3 percent. " I knew more people bought the 360/PS3 version but I didn't think it was that much of a landslide o_O
  7. it's the unexpected games that made this year awesome for me - Little King's Story, a game I'd never played, I finally decided to get after ALWAYS hearing about it on these boards and I'm so glad I did! It's such a charming game! Then came Fragile Dreams which had such a great atmosphere and great story! Then I imported Excite Bots (mega bargain on eBay, a mere fiver plus P&P) and I was blown away! It's by far the most exciting and crazy racer I've played, shame on Nintendo for not bringing it out in the UK! But of course, what made this year fantastic on the Wii, in my eyes, was definitely Super Mario Galaxy 2! I didn't think Galaxy could possibly be topped but then this came along and blew it out of the water! There are tons of other games I haven't mentioned and loads more I need to get, Sonic Colours really shocked me, I truly didn't expect much but it's turned out to be one of my all time favourite Sonic games! Then there's WiiWare with the like of Bit Trip Runner and 'And Yet It Moves!' I'm also an advocate for 'Casual' games (don't kill me), so I've had loads of fun playing Just Dance 2, Rock Band 3 and DJ Hero 2 with my mates! By far the best year of Wii and with DKC Returns, Epic Mickey and Kirby to get, it looks like it's going to carry on entertaining me for a good few months yet!
  8. Reading everyone's post's is getting me so excited! I get paid tomorrow so I could easily buy this but I've been told, "Don't buy it because.... you might be getting it for Christmas :P" OH GOD DAMN! THE WAIT IS KILLING ME!

    Aliens

I find the universe so interesting and I think there's no doubt about whether 'aliens' exist. I'm not saying they've ever visited earth but there must be some other form of life in the universe, somewhere, it's just so huge that for us to be the only ones is insane! I do always wonder if we'll ever find out about/see alien life forms in my life time though, I kind of hope we do because it's so fascinating but at the same time, I know i'd be scared shitless xD And when I read the first post I was thinking "Everybody Votes Channel?! I had no idea so many people still used it!" then realised how old the post was :P That Channel does make me laugh, I remember I stopped using it early last year when it asked "Do you like Orange Juice?"
  10. Aah I see, it all makes sense now! It'd be cool if Nintendo made a big thing about Donkey Kong's 30th but sadly I don't see it happening. But... if they brought out a "Donkey Kong All-Stars" with DKC 1, 2 and 3 in a fancy box with a CD... I would just have to buy it.
  11. ONM aren't to be trusted, they gave the re-released Super Mario All-Stars 90% and went on about how the games included have updated visuals. THEY ARE SNES VISUALS! IT IS A SNES GAME!
  12. Surely they could have released All Stars on the Virtual Console? It just seems odd to use a whole disc for a SNES game, I assume collectors will want it for the CD and booklet though.
  13. I love this game! This is the best Sonic game since SA2! I love the music, atmosphere but most importantly the actual gameplay itself! There are no terrible control issues or weird camera's, it all just works - and really well! Some of the level designs are amazing and I love Dr Eggmans random voice overs that play in the background every now and then. Highlight so far - ROCKET WISP!!
  14. I might have over reacted slightly but when key elements of a series are omitted it annoys me. Like I said before, I'm not saying it's going to be a bad game, it actually looks quite good, but to have Country in the name and to miss out so many key features of the original games is crazy. Here's a comparison, there are no Kremlins, K Rool or underwater levels and there are also hardly any animal buddies returning. That would be like if New Super Mario Bros. didn't have Goomas, Yoshi, Bowser or under water levels - It wouldn't make it a bad game but it would take away a lot of the Mario feel. I'm just going to stop though, before I get flamed more :p
  15. It's not a DKC game, the lack of Kremlins and Kongs prove that, it's far more targeted towards new gamers than the fans of the originals. I'm still going to try my hardest to enjoy it and try not to be such a Rare fan boy but to have Country in the name and not have many of the features that made it great in the first place is stupid, it should be under another name to show it's different direction, like Jungle Beat. And I was hoping for much more from the music, from what I've heard on YouTube the songs are pretty uninspired midi's of the originals and after hearing the great songs on Brawl, it's a huge disappointment. But I was always going to be far more harsh on this than most, I'm as bad as those Sonic fan boys.
  16. Hey guys, I recently started writing a blog for the website Joystick Junkies - A fashion label based around retro video games! The blog mainly features artistic and quirky things surrounding classic video games and I'd like to know what you guys think of it, what you like/dislike and how I could improve it! I've been doing the blog for just over a week now and do 1 or 2 posts a day! So here's my page: http://joystickjunkies.com/author/joshuaphillips/ Also if you've made or seen anything interesting that you think should be featured in the blog then tell me

    McFly

I was never a big fan, Busted is where it's at ;D I've only ever heard them played on the radio countless times though, I've not listened to an entire album so maybe I shouldn't judge
  18. DKC2 is actually my favourite SNES game and one of my favourite games of all time for the great controls, fantastic atmosphere and brilliant music. It's what got me into gaming and why I regard DK and Rareware so highly. As much as I'm looking forward to this game it doesn't excite me all that much, many of the original characters won't be returning and the music is hugely dissapointing for one. I've played a demo version at the eurogamer expo and the controls aren't as tight as the original
