It would appear I have two options for the upcoming academic year: 1) Pass 2) Buy GTA V It looks unreal. I don't understand how they're achieving that stuff, smoke and mirrors surely?

Branching out...A Zelda Fighter and Racer (Ideas)
dwarf replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Gaming Discussion
1 & 4) The Wii Fit Trainer doesn't belong in the game, it's barely an avatar let alone a character. By fantasy universe I mean the franchises Nintendo have - Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc - they all have their own established worlds and characters: The Mushroom Kingdom, Hyrule, the various Metroid planets and so on and so forth. These are actual fleshed out fictional worlds with stories and personalities. Wii Fit has none of this. It's a barebones simulation that doesn't really exist in any place or time. Miis are used to interact with the Trainer, which are merely projections of real people. A crossover between a lifestyle training programme and a charming fantasy universe is just...wrong. I'm also baffled that you think the significance of this minor character inclusion is in any way comparable to the reimagining of a game franchise and its transition from 2D to 3D. 2 & 3) To reiterate, Ice Climbers is a game with fantasy environments and characters. 'Fans' of Wii Fit aren't fans because the Trainer is a great laugh and the environments are exciting. They're fans of Wii Fit because it provides a fun distraction whilst keeping them in shape. 5) Miyamoto created Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, StarFox, F-Zero and Pikmin. He was chiefly responsible for the early development of Wii Fit and Nintendo's recent casual-game ethos. He introduced the Trainer's Smash Bros trailer at E3 and Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of Smash, documented the way Miyamoto oversaw Brawl's development/ emphasised his presence when he released details about the game for the first time. And you're telling me he had nothing to do with this decision. I suppose it's neither here nor there really. It doesn't matter who had the idea. It's hard to knock Miyamoto because he makes great games. He is, however, rooted in tradition. He's a bit backwards. Whatever way you cut it, the inclusion of the Trainer smacks of desperation. You can't add new beloved characters to the next Smash Bros if you haven't made any for years. Why not scrape the barrel for something that might just be passable, if only because it's a bit of a joke? -
Are you still calling it that to annoy me? And it definitely isn't a better name than Crack in Time so don't go peddling that nonsense again!

Already there my friend.

Branching out...A Zelda Fighter and Racer (Ideas)

I completely agree with Sheikah & Oxigen. Their comments are both valid and on topic, even if they've taken the topic in a direction you didn't want to see, Flink. I was hoping you were being ironic by titling this 'branching out', because this is the same franchise rape we've seen from Nintendo for the past umpteen years. It would be refreshing to see Nintendo come up with a new IP knowing full-well that it couldn't be stripped of its assets in order to expand their cheery, self-congratulating empire. What would a Zelda racer really have to say about the series? What value does it add? In my eyes, Link should only be put in a car if Nintendo made a mash-up racer (ala Smash Bros roster). Speaking of Smash, can somebody tell the Wii-Fit Trainer to fuck off out of it please? That right there is bullshit nobody asked for. Smash Bros is about cherished characters. Wii Fit is a soulless, money-making fad. It has no fan-base, it's not a part of Nintendo's fantasy universe. What's happened there is, Miyamoto has pitched the idea to his spineless colleagues and they've blithely indulged him despite knowing the idea is steeped in hot piss. -
http://www.cracked.com/article_20538_6-games-that-put-insane-detail-into-stuff-you-didnt-notice_p2.html Some cool things there, and there will be countless examples from older games too that don't rely on modern engines. Little details like these often raise our estimations of certain games because they have tried to go the extra mile by rewarding the more patient and inquisitive sides in us. Many average games would've phased out of history and memory if it weren't for the neat ideas of the odd pedant or zealot coming to fruition. Hardly an average game, but I loved Prime's scan visor. Sure it's more explicit than anything in the Cracked list, but I loved being able to uncover information about trivial things that advanced the game in no way whatsoever. Retro could have easily made the visor a purely functional device for operating contraptions and such-like, but they took the opportunity to turn it into something special and memorable. It's great to see blockbuster games now incorporating this level of detail in smoother, subtler ways.

Real. There are many funny moments like that in the game, all of them unintentionally so. Resi 5 is the perfect example of how a shit game can still be enjoyable in co-op with a friend. Not that I'd recommend it in the slightest. -

But the Ouya... Oh. Yeah.

Survivor is definitely a step-up, I've only cleared a couple of the clicker sections so far and it is very noticeable. There are significantly fewer item parts and the enemies' senses are heightened, making bricks/bottles much more vital.

It's easy to encase the old HDD (or any compatible PS3 HDD) into an external USB HDD. That's the extent of my help.

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus: The Collection
dwarf replied to Happenstance's topic in Other Consoles
I thwarted half of the bosses but I haven't played it in over a month. The visuals hold up really well but the game doesn't feel fun to play, it's more of a spectacle than anything else. -
So are the sticks... Honestly, pros wouldn't use it. If they mandated gyro aiming that would work/be cool.
-
Nah, Killzone had gyro aiming and it was pointless, fine tuning with the sticks was easier.

Xbone now comes bundled with a headset.

Clever. ...

Yeah it's terribly unrealistic but I'd probably only consider a Vita if it was reduced to £100 with a decent memory card. Until recently I hadn't been downloading PS Vita + content, when I realised I might as well build a library if I take the plunge later on. If the PS4 streaming works well, that really is the tits. They really should market that.

He has also been linked with EA, he has buddies both there and Zynga. I just don't want to see his dogged mush again.

And for PS1 games that don't support analogues. Playing Crash Bandicoot with the 360 D-Pad would be a scarring experience.
