  1. The more I read and think on it, the more I'm convinced the NX will essentially be a portable device with an HDMI out and/or maybe a dock station that will up-rez it to the TV. If even passing resemblance a tradition under-the-TV unit I'll be genuinely shocked. Also, I think Nintendo should make or license some of it's properties for platforms they might actually find an audience including PC and the Xbox/Playstation brands. Metroid could find audiences there but it never will with an audience that bought more copies of DKC Returns than all the 'Primes combined. No point in not leveraging good IP just because it's likely audience went with a different platform they're not even trying to compete with.
  2. It was a tragedy when the crash happened and the fatality compounds it horribly. What a tragic loss of such a bright, young, talented human being. We've lost someone destined for great things.
  3. Man, this came as a shock. RIP, he will be missed.
  4. Holy fuck Mad-D, I had no idea you were going through that kind of heavy shit. Incredible respect to you for dealing with that. I don't have anything useful to say but I will be sending you positive vibes as best as I can.
  5. Put an item of clothing that smells like you in a giant mousetrap and see what happens.
  6. Let's face it, we checked in but we can never leave...
  7. There's honestly no reason to pre-order anything and the Kotaku article is absolutely right, about 90% of the most egregious elements of gaming marketing that people complain about would stop within three months if those same people stopped pre-buying £5-worth of retailer-exclusive plastic for twice the price of the regular game. I used to get mad about it but it's so easy to game prodigiously without buying into literally any of those marketing systems now. Anyone who feels like big games are screwing them over have probably only got themselves to blame. Anyone who still wants it can have it.
  8. Fantastic GP at Silverstone this weekend, a real shot in the arm for the season. Almost gutted Williams didn't at least get a podium though. I hope we get at least a couple more races like that, maybe the season will be viewed more fondly.
  9. I will bet everyone here my shoes that anyone hoping for NX to be the console that wins back 3rd party games will be left sorely disappointed. I'm not even sure if Nintendo should be making a console. Or if anyone should. The ones we have now are literally just cheap underpowered PCs. 10 years from now I'm not convinced Playstation won't be a streaming service. One day you'll play Mario Kart through your Sony TV app, PCs will be a walnut you insert in your ear, and Nintendo will be a market leader in child-friendly medical droids.
  10. This weeks customer highlight: Grubby looking drunk man who came in at 9:30pm with three out of a four pack of Stella asking to swap them for ones straight out of the chiller, having bought them the previous day, drunk one and fallen asleep with them in a hotel room (his version of the story). I politely declined the service because "I couldn't guarantee the quality of the beer for the next customer" (actual reason - I didn't think the next customer would want to drink beer that had spent the night in a hotel room with a grubby stranger because that's KINDA FUCKIN' WEIRD). He got angry and demanded I write why I had turned him down on the back of a receipt. I expect nothing to come of it.
  11. You're just jealous 'cause he's gonna find all the sailors.
  12. I think the crack would've been the better purchase.
  13. Looks funky bit I think I'll wait for reviews and to see how DLC/season passes get applied. I've only got room for one or two big multiplayer shooters in my life and if there's a Bad Company 3 coming in another year I could yet stay and hold for that.
  14. This is another pair I'd very much like to try. Better clear my backlog first though, haven't even started Life Is Strange...
  15. Kind of seems like they wanted to push what made sense in an E-rated direct. The other one was largely ignored on the Wii so this looks likely to be another hidden gem.
  16. Well if Nintendo aren't gonna do F-Zero somebody else may as well. Just as long as the speed & track design is all there it could fill a very big hole in my heart (left by the death of Wipeout as much as the absence of F-Zero).
  17. Who do I have to kill just to get a release date for it? Because I'll do it, so help me god I will.
  18. UN-LIM-I-TED SEE-FOUR
  19. I'm still not sure how the PS4 can do VR given the clout needed for the Oculus on PCs. I'm genuinely curious but not yet convinced a VR set on a current-gen console has a viable purpose in the face of the competition.
  20. E3 isn't the center of the universe for the industry any more and especially not for Nintendo. They could announce something huge at a European games show or just in any given Direct on any given month, whenever they have something ready to show and/or when it fits into the PR ramp-up. So nothing huge was announced today but I think what was announced fits with that young audience it's trying to reach in different ways (Skylanders Amiibo, Animal Crossing spin offs, Yokai, cutesy Metroid games etc.) There are enough games coming up to keep my interest (FE:Fates, Star Fox Zero, Xenoblade, Fatal Frame) but I've appreciated that I am not Nintendo's primary customer for some time now and I am groovy with that. Maybe if I was 8 again.
  21. Low key E3 Direct but there's enough I'm looking forward to satisfy me. Mario Maker looks rad too, I don't know if it's what I want but they seem to be doing right by it.
  22. Good, seems like an ideal "settle in for the winter" game.
  23. Awwg I can't wait. Sounds like they blew this out exactly how I hoped.
