Oh boy. Somebody found a gas leak yesterday morning and the whole building hasn't had heating or hot water since. The utility guys had 3 vans on the case immediately but they've basically got to put fresh pipes in because the existing ones are rotten. They've been at it all day yesterday and today but we'll be lucky to have hot water back before end of tomorrow. I want a shower. >.<

Sometimes I think about playing a Final Fantasy game but then I remember I could spend the same time playing a good JRPG like this.

Think I'm going to invest in the WiiU side of things post new year, definitely this & MArio Maker. Start 2016 off right.

My brother's dog, a big, lovely, rather shy German Shepard-mutt no more than a year old, whose company I enjoyed very much for a week this summer, has apparently been shot dead by some arsehole while they were out walking him. I was looking forward to spending Christmas with him while my brother was out of town, but I guess that's that. It's rather ruined my evening.

I've been meaning to rewatch the ol' LoK. The first two Books are cool but it gets so fucking good in Books 3 & 4 I swear to fucking god. Saints Row 4 & Assassins Creed: Love In The Time of Scurvy for £22 total from PSN. Not too shabby.

I still love Life is Strange overall but I'm not a fan of the final episode. The series was always at it's best when it was about meeting people and women helping other women, so when they ramp up the Twin Peaks/Chaos Theory stuff it lost me. I really hope Dontnod take another whack at a story series though, it was a refreshing alternative to the (none the less well produced) Telltale games. Really nothing else like it right now.

Man, it's not been quite a classic season but we've had a couple of good rounds and this was a classic. Great test for Lewis before taking the championship, nothing was plain sailing but he got it done. He's just been A+ class all season. Hope the other teams & engine suppliers really come back next year though, we're overdue for a Lewis V Seb showdown (maybe throw some Danny R & Alonso while they're at it).

Merging the home & handheld into a single device is the only sensible way for this thing to go. If y'all still hoping for a console you can play the big usual 3rd party series on though you're laughing out your own ass.

Oh boy, February's starting to become a hot month for the games I want.

The one addition I'd like is a price tier for unlimited access to an individual title. £7 for 30 days isn't terrible but I'd enjoy an option to pay up to £15-20 once for the convenience of having access to Ico or Sly Racoon to enjoy in my own time.

I didn't give a fig about Far Cry 4 but a crazy spin off with spears & mammoths make this different enough to be interested. I look forward to seeing what this is.

It looks superb and the atmosphere is spot-on but it still hasn't crystallized as a must-buy. It's fun but janky in that way Battlefront always has been. Definitely will pick up the core game later, when it's something cheaper to bash around on.

Is this all still in your room or have you finally obtained a nuclear bunker/house?

I genuinely do not understand how the Rebels are supposed to win in the Walker Assault mode. Are they supposed to have some rocket launchers in the full game available? After you get the uplinks going it's like throwing sandwiches at battle tanks while somebody else is throwing cutlery at you.

I just glad we finally got a date, gotta assume there's at least some big scene they had to nail down.

Thanks to holidays and one especially bad case of gastroenteritis I am six days and 41.5 hours into a 7 day 49 hour week, because apparently I'm the only idiot on a 20-strong roster who could and/or would cover. My feet hurt way too much for someone below the age 65 and thanks to all the shifts being either 10pm finishers or 6am starts my internal body clock has no idea what timezone it's even supposed to be operating in. One more day and I get WHOLE DAY OFF, which I intend to spend disintegrating into the ethereal ether until not even the memory of my existence remains within the observable universe.

Is anyone else getting two or three side-ops missions not graying out after completing them? Is that just to make sure I can get points when I need 'em or what?

That's what's been stated by the community manager as of a couple of days ago. Maybe there's been some wires crossed but I wouldn't bet on Konami being particularly generous with the system in any case. We'll know for sure soon enough, at least.

So we'll all find out tomorrow anyway but here's the dirty fingerprints the nefarious Michael Transactions has left on this game, via the Giantbomb forums. You'll want to give yourself a moment to vomit blood. Basically you get your 1st FOB for free but you can buy up to an additional 3 using your "Mother Base Coins". You can also use them to speed up weapon & base development in the campaign. There is no way to earn them through gameplay. Personally I wish I could cut this from the rest of the game like a malignant tumor and take a shit on it.

Quick question: In the staff menu, what is a "Direct Contract"?

Somebody just tell me right now if your mission buddies can die permanently - I haven't heard anything since Kojima mentioned it last year but I'm not taking that dog anywhere unless I know she's coming back.
