  1. Without gameplay this is worth nothing to me But thanks for the write-up. I'll wait for gameplay impressions.
  2. I feel like this warrants its own thread Been talking about my journey in the General Switch Discussion but put this game on hold for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. Now that I've fallen out of love with the latter, I went back to Bug Fables and I'm having a great time Still in chapter 4, but it looks like I'm about to fight the boss. The game does suffer from a few flaws: movement and overworld skills are a little tricky to pull off; the perspective just isn't suited for what you have to do at times hard mode is not worth it for the majority of the game (so far); the negatives (stronger enemies - they have more HP and hit harder) far outweigh the positives (more EXP); it's just unnecessary to equip the hard mode medal 'cause you spent most of the time (and money) for resting and healing items; it's much more chill to fight a few more times instead of going back to stock up on items and resting at inns the exp you get (even in hard mode) is just a little too low, in my opinion Usually I just have hard mode disabled until it's clear that a boss is about to show up. There's quite the bonus when you beat a boss in hard mode: you get medals for each boss killed that way. Just now I've gotten a very useful medal that I think should've been available much earlier: Anyways, these issues have been a little annoying to deal with but now it feels like the game really gets going. I also managed to beat an optional boss (at least I think it's optional) much earlier than you're supposed to, given the fact that it was able to kill my entire team in two turns without a specific tactic (shielding and loooooooooooooooooooooots of TP recovery items). The reward is pretty cool:
  3. Haven't played much of it on my Switch but I intend to get back to it very soon.
  4. I still don't understand the outrage. But maybe that's because I don't think of tribal/indigenous people as savages no matter how they are portrayed? Anyways, it's just very confusing to me how it's impossible to say or present anything without risking a backlash these days. Also...the thing that the little guy holds in his hand looks nothing like a joint
  5. I really don't see what they need to apologize for?
  6. The devs apologized for what others have called a "caricature of indigenous and tribal people". I don't even know what to say.
  7. Yeah, it's obviously fake. Nintendo wouldn't just release an up-scaled version of a Nintendo 64 game for 35 bucks.
  8. Yeah, I don't doubt that people can find it entertaining. Fair play to them. However, reading your write-up I would've probably constantly sighed for the remainder of the game
  9. Here's the thing: The game could've actually ended at the point I stopped playing... Edit: Oh and here's one more thing: Edit²: Here's one more prediction:
  10. I was surprised, too, to be honest. Given my love for JRPGs. Nah, I gave this one a 40 hour chance. And it's definitely not that I'm burnt out (I can grind exp/money/etc. for hours without being burnt out, if I find a game interesting ). It's simple: To me, everything about this game is forgettable. Nothing stands out. And that's not worth more of my time.
  11. The more I see the more I realize that everything just kind of blends together. Nothing really stands out. Monsters/enemies/bosses look painfully bland. Even the different environments are this weird blob in my mind. The battles...maybe it's different end-/post-game... but is there any kind of strategy involved? There's no need to break/topple/daze enemies (unless a tutorial screen pops up saying "YOU HAVE TO DO THIS NOW"), status effects are unnecessary and winning is just a matter of spamming arts, unleashing chain attacks and staying alive. I was hoping that it would be different now that I've reached a point where enemies are at my level but no... The story took a turn for the worse (see the spoiler above). There's nothing special about Xenoblade Chronicles, in my eyes. And I think I'm now at the point where I just can't go on. 40 hours in and looking at the number of chapters I'm 2/3rd of the way through but it drags and I find it utterly boring. My initial enjoyment faded away and turned into indifference. Maybe I'm spoiled by the old Final Fantasy games and especially the Dragon Quest series. Even though all the Dragon Quest share the same art and charm, each game still stands out in both presentation and game play. I guess the Xenoblade series just isn't for me. I had to give up on the second game and now I've given the first one an even bigger chance but the result is the same. Deleted, cartridge packed away, game put on ebay.
  12. Managed to grab a digital copy for 17.47€. A key seller apparently fucked up and refunded me a product I bought months ago twice. Once to my PayPal account and once to my account at that seller The latter I didn't notice until I checked prices for 51 Worldwide Games just now. If anybody wants to get some games going, let me know
  13. Every time with stories like these... Urgh...predictable and boring. Only redeeming part about the plot are a few characters with a certain mystery and intrigue around them. Anyways, the side quests burnt me out. Should've just spread them out more. That's on me. Will most likely just follow the story now.
  14. Meh. I would rather have more focused/smaller areas.
  15. Made some more progress last night and have now reached chapter 11. I have to say, while the scale/scope of the large areas was great at first, they've become annoying after a while. Even with fast travel points you often have to walk a long time to the intended target for both side and story quests. Speaking of side quests, I've completed 256 and currently have 6 active. Not sure if I'll bother with more once another batch opens up. Maybe I'll look up those that offer unique rewards like skill trees, but other than that...I'm burnt out.
  16. I want one at launch, but it depends on the price and where I'm at financially then. So there's no way for me to say right now. If it's possible to trade in the PS4 to get the PS5 cheaper I'd be up for it.
  17. @Sméagol would like a word.
  18. I changed up my party and combat is a little different. I'm currently controlling... ...and it's refreshing what she can do. In other news, progressed the story a bit and now it's time for more of the good old "uncover the past, yadayada" section
  19. She's YouTube's statistics manager, by the way.
  20. Good news, everybody. It's a rogue-lite third person shooter mixed with some bullet hell. Rogue-lite.
  21. Still too much
  22. I knew you'd say that It's the presentation. Weird looks, weirdly behaving characters, weird weird weirdness just for the sake of being weird. Anything other than this being a F2P game would surprise me. Aside from its presentation, though, it does look interesting and fun.
