Those kind of couples feed on attention and drama, take solace in knowing they probably won't last for long.

I'm waiting for this to come out in English, a while back during one of the betas I played through some quest but had no idea with regards to the Japanese or what I was selecting. Combat seemed pretty decent, felt quite like the original PSO.

This gen's under appreciated/performing developers.

I'll be one to say that I personally hated BK Nuts and Bolts. Putting aside the fact it wasn't the game everyone hoped it would be, as a standalone game the vehicle control was bonkers terrible (even using the presets), the missions repetitive (cycling between about 3-4 different types of missions) and the game was just generally tedious in places (like making you transport your jiggies manually to actually make them count). Sure, I can see that some would enjoy it as something different. But no way in hell will anyone remember this as one of the best games ever, unlike the original BK. They honestly didn't do themselves any favours by using a mascot to pin up the game that would lure in nostalgic fans, even going as far to throw in the HD remade original. Obviously those kinds of fans are going to want a sequel of the same genre, no surprise really why many weren't happy. -
Cheers for the heads up on Everybody's Golf price drop, got it. Pretty fun but I anticipated the HUD full of icons and bars conveying information that I can only guess at (well, for the most part). Just looked at some of the trophies - hole in one, seriously? I'm hoping there's either some really small courses or some spin off crazy golf mode to go about earning that. :p Either that or hoping I have the fluke of a saint.

I thought the first RE wasn't bad but it lost the plot a bit after that. Anyway, just watched The Departed. Yes, yes.

Nintendo Hits Back about Wii U Power Concern
Sheikah replied to Murr's topic in General Gaming Discussion
That's not true at all, the currently more powerful PS3 and 360 have tons of original indie content that never sees the light of day on the Wii, and is usually released via the PSN store / marketplace. Maximum graphic capability is a limit, not a level to which all games on a console must be pushed to. The vast majority of indie games on the PS3 and 360 don't use anywhere near the full potential of the console yet hordes of people still buy them. -
3rd Party Problem? What Problem?
Sheikah replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Absolutely, PS3 would blow it out of the water. :p Plus it shouldn't really matter if games were also released on another console, the important thing is that they weren't on the Wii. I do also agree with Dcubed that a lot of titles listed here are somewhat questionable in terms of quality, which is why I view the argument that Wii third party exclusives dwarved that of other consoles to be very shakey. -
Wii U Can't Replicate Xbox Live/PSN
Sheikah replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
See this is what I'm getting at - the home button does a similar thing on PSN (takes you to the notification) but people don't always know this. Can't remember if it does it for trophies and not near my PS3 to check. I'll admit that the menu could load faster in game, but pressing home as the message pings or using the keypad attachment eliminates the need to do most of those things. All in all, any pros to the interface are easily outweighed by the funcionality of plus and the shedload of free games you get in a year for the same cost. That's why I'm kinda surprised by the claim that it's less advanced. -

I like that you've put a decent list together, there's no denying there's not some good games there. That said, it is a sum total over many years and I think if it was done with the other consoles the list would be far longer with games of much higher quality (ie. no games like red steel or remakes/ports to make up the list). -
Nintendo Hits Back about Wii U Power Concern
Sheikah replied to Murr's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Hit the nail on the head. The main comment to take away there is that they think they've addressed the issue of lacking multifomat big titles. In 3 years when the new PS/MS consoles are likely pushing out more than the WiiU can (I say likely going by graphical jump ups from previous consoles) the WiiU may likely fall behind again. You have to remember that most people wanting to play FPS games or games like Assassin's Creed are already PS3/360 owners who are likely to remain loyal to one of the two consoles. WiiU would likely have to be better than the competition with a decent online infrastructure to compete, which we can be pretty sure if won't have. -
Wii U Can't Replicate Xbox Live/PSN
Sheikah replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Having used both excessively I can say that that's not the case. I actually prefer PSN in general as it has better functionality in terms of backing up saves online for me to play at other people's houses and some cool things like plus which XBL lacks. As for the sluggishness, I can only think something is up with your PS3 as clicking things in the store is near instant for me. Chatting to others is made really quick and almost menuless with the sub £10 keypad attachment which has shortcuts straight to your messages/friends, something I don't think even the 360 pad has. As well as that, when you start chatting to someone a simple press of the home button makes the chat box reappear. Simply put, the myth was at one point true, but conservatism/lack of knowledge tends to cause people to continue reciting it. -
Should be cool, might make me eventually consider a WiiU. I've always thought there should be a Link who carries a stash of masks, letting him become a deku scrub, goron and zora. Getting a giant mushroom could show an animation of him putting on the giant's mask. Of course his smash attack if they're still doing those would be to don the awesome fierce deity mask.

Wii U Can't Replicate Xbox Live/PSN
Sheikah replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Had to comment on the absurdity of this statement. Come on, you're not even kidding yourself with that statement. :p All comments slamming security of XBL/PSN are moot because both services are optional. If you want similar services on the Wii though, you're out of luck. I find it odd how people continue to breathe life into the myth that XBL is somehow vastly superior to PSN. IMO it's like people arguing firefox over chrome, android over iOS. They both do roughly the same thing with almost exactly the same features, but with slightly different interfaces that people will argue over which is better until hell freezes over. The only thing you might argue in terms of advancement is that Sony took most of what XBL offers and made it free, then offering a plus service for a similar cost to XBL subscription where you get lots of free games. -
Because, you know, when in Rome (or rather, Barcelona).

Oh sure, they'll put other people's game stuff into theirs to bring in the cash, but they're that big a company that they can quite easily make their own beat 'em up using their own characters (hence, they already have done). For that reason I think it's less likely they'd loan their characters out to a different fighter not produced by them, especially since the Dissidia series has two titles so far and may well be continued. I mean, they've had plenty of chance already to throw their characters into Soul Calibur or Smash but they haven't. No one's saying they won't throw characters into it, just I think given what I've said it's less than likely.

From Software. Demon's Souls and Dark Souls aren't exactly unpopular but aren't exactly massive sellers compared to the big titles (e.g. Dark Souls sold just over a million worldwide). Both games are amazing and critically acclaimed, easily some of my favourite games this generation. While there's some other games I could mention that are pretty fun, these are at another level in terms of originality and gameplay. -
I don't think I'm missing the point at all. Not only are most of the characters pretty dull/uncharismatic/couldn't care less by Smash Brothers standards, they simply don't look like they all belong together in a game. It looks like a poor man's Smash, and given my enthusiasm for Smash has mostly drained over the many years I think it's very unlikely I'd get this. If Sony had managed to secure far more characters from better games like Final Fantasy then it might be a different story. But then such a game already exists in the form of Dissidia, so S-E probably wouldn't want to loan their characters out for another fighter.

Strongly considering a PC upgrade. Is this spec ok?

I'll save you some cash. :p If it's gaming you're doing there's no real point to the i7. Get the i5-3570K instead and save yourself £60. Runs everything at max in my experience. Easy saving, I got the Asrock Extreme4 which has pretty much the same features (Asrock are basically a spin off company that came from Asus) but costs £109 at dabs.com here. No point to 16GB, stick with 8GB which you can get for £40 ish. I got Vengeance RAM too, check out the low profile version which takes up less space in your case which can be handy for fitting in components like the PSU cooler. Yep, good. I got the HX version instead which was slightly more expensive but modular so you only use the cables you need. My very best suggestion here is to spend £25 more and get the Radeon HD 7850 (preferrably Twin Frozr edition). It's a much more powerful card because you can so easily overclock it without messing about with voltage and whatnot (it's just a slider) and it's already much more powerful. I got it from Novatech but they sell really quickly so they're out of stock at the moment, but a lot of places are selling regular Sapphire versions of the card (without the Twin Frozr cooler). Not sure about a 1TB drive (they all seem really expensive at the moment due to the past floods), but I recommend spending £50 on a solid state drive (such as this OCZ brand one). Install Windows and some games/programs on this and you are laughing. Loads up your system in seconds and makes everything run much snappier. Honestly one of the biggest noticeable system improvements you can get, an SSD. Personally I wouldn't bother with a sound card, as for wireless cards any reasonably cheap well-reviewed TP-link or Edimax card would probably do off Amazon. I don't see a processor cooler in your list, you will definitely want to replace the stock cooler that comes with your processor. For a decent cooler I recommend the Hyper 212 Evo (£32.50, Amazon). -
Completely agree, which is why the game looks bad. Although to be fair, most great games on Sony consoles have been third party, so (mostly) Sony franchises don't really lend themselves to an all star fighter. Nintendo have characters with heaps of charm but really poor third party support, so in the grand scheme of things it probably balances out.

Guys, the second beta weekend event is starting up this Friday! If anyone wants to play then prepurchase the game before Friday, download the client through the e-mail you get and starting playing 8PM on the 8th.

It's really hard to screw up these days, even overclocking is simple (pretty much increasing a single number for a reasonable overclock). For a few hours of searching for parts you're likely to save maybe £200 and have much better components. The only compatibility thing is that the motherboard type has to match the processor and the RAM has to be compatible. There's so many existing builds/overclock bundles which have taken the effort out of compatibility though. All you then need to do is find those parts/similar parts at ebuyer/amazon etc and put them together. With pre-built PCs they are more likely than not to have the stock cooler attached to the processor (ie. shit) as well as a crap case with poor ventilation. Fans also tend to be cheaper and noisier (better fans often have multiple speed settings to reduce noise). Then there's the fact that the RAM is typically not the best rated RAM there is out there, sometimes even generic RAM. It's also quite unlikely the power supply will be 80 plus certified (basically means it will be inefficient), probably a cheap non-modular model that will likely not deliver much power should you want to upgrade anything. Basically they will put the minimum amount of money in to create an impression that the machine is extremely worthwhile/powerful by rattling off reasonable sounding specs. But dig a little deeper and you'll realise you'd be much better off building it yourself. :p
-
EEVIL if you're after a great performance PC at a much cheaper cost I'd recommend building it yourself, that way the parts you put in your PC are the best (not generic crap).
-
I had an issue with my graphics card being not fully inserted. It's easy enough to open your case an push it down if that's the case (dispel static by touching grounded metal first).
-
Yep. Got one myself, pretty cool. Also some cases have an inner chamber with holes to thread cables through, so you effectively don't see much of them.
