I'M BACK ONCE AGAIN.... I'M THE RENEGADE MASTER...
Rummy replied to DOAG's topic in General Chit Chat
Is your behaviour ill? -
Sorry guys. I'll try and keep it under wraps...but no promises I dunno what the structure of your services are there but if you're seeing an NHS psychiatrist then they/you must be under a specific team? Can you put in a request for therapy/psychology intervention? Sounds like that's what'd be good going forwards. Try and get on it ASAP tho - those things take time and there's lots of demand etc, especially in more recent times(tho also a lot of structural changes to services to facilitate it better from what I understand). A psychiatrist is mostly gonna just be doing/tweaking your meds rather than going at underlying issues - though they may be sort of the gatekeeper of care/referrals so best to try and chase things up as soon as you can and get it all in motion.

Highly highly support @Cube's recommendation of Codenames. Discovered it a whilst back through our regular tabletop host - played a few times with different groups since and people absolutely love it. (also 7 wonders has been in my arsenal for quite a few years Cube, and we've recently played colt express through said tabletop host a few times - both excellent for the tabletop fans!) I don't think there's anything else I particularly indulge in outside of tabletop that's not very well known, so my own recommendations for the thread are pretty non-existent :p

Ladyfriend came over on Wednesday, we watched more HP and I convinced her to play through Journey - tried my hardest not to spoil anything but I kinda did halfway through. She absolutely loved it. Had a bit of a chat Wednesday evening, think we're gonna have some stuff to work past going forwards. It's only been a few weeks but it does feel like aaages - took a bit of a plunge yesterday morning and very gayly asked if I could call her my girlfriend - seems that we're on the same page Totes skipped out on work yesterday and she stayed for the day as I was having friends(including her bro+cousin) over in the eve to watch Code Geass - all she wanted to do was sit and play Monster Hunter beforehand which is also awesome. Just gutted now as I won't see her until Wednesday as she's busy and back to uni in a few days - plus lots of exams/revision and placement after. I'm still wary as it all feels a bit too good to be true, but here's hoping it stays on track. I'd second Flink's sentiments and suggest trying to see if you can get any help from some professionals with all of that - it's certainly a big chunk of things to be going through; and as you say/recognise it can be really difficult to be rational or believe realities whilst you're in the throngs of it. Can be so much more difficult with a lack of support network around you too.

Folders and SonyVerse don't bother me at all - but I'd kill for an activity log akin to Ninty's on 3DS/WiiU!

Hmm, rationally I was going to say 7's quite a few times, but at the same time I understand a bit where you're coming from on the lack of communication in the interim. Is the little communication on your part, her part, or both parts? Maybe you're just not those kinda people? What sort of things(if much :p) do you guys tend to chat about when you do see each other? I'm still trying to work out what my thing is. We've obvs spoken about family a few times, but is that just because I know hers? I'm also, kinda like you, not much of an interim chatter but we have been texting each other most days and I try my best to actually make an effort for now when I probs otherwise couldn't be arsed. The weird thing is that every time I see her I feel like she's a bit colder/unreceptive to me, and then warms up a bit as the time goes on and it's not making a lot of sense to me. I don't know if it's an awkwardness of spending time in company of her brother/cousin or something else. I feel a bit more comfortable now than I probably did a week or so ago, and I'll see her for tabletopping later and she said she'll come round Wednesday. Not sure what's going to happen when she's goes back up to uni this week, but I've got a London thing next week and she seems fine with me seeing her after. I have a feeling we're both feeling mutually irrationally awkward and doubtful, and it's just getting over that - I feel like it's moving into something a bit more comfortable already but who knows. My take home to consider from that though @Shorty - what if she's going through exactly the same thing you are and neither of you are plucking up the courage to say/do anything about it? Ofc the brain doesn't tend to err on that side of things, as I've recently come to learn :p

I don't follow the Wrestling much beyond the tidbits I get from facebook and Frag and the PPVs I go to - srsly regret sacrificing sleep and work today for last night's Wrestlemania. Other than Shane's moment and New Day's generally New Daying, I found it all rather crap. I napped through the IC title, which apparently was quite good unfortunately for me, and through the first half of Reigns v Triple H - which even for the bits I did see wasn't blowing me away. I think I still quite dislike Reigns, and his stupid arm pump/cocking thing.

I updated but still not joy for me. Maybe it's not even related to my phone being rooted. Are you on a stock or custom ROM?
-
Well, I think if you've nothing to lose I'd suggest getting MBAM and giving the computer a scan. It never used to be real time though could be these days - it was more a fire it up, run a scan, and see what it gets. It'll get lots of stuff like cookies etc but it may also get some other bits you don't expect, and I found that pretty handy as they weren't strictly virus-ey things per se but I wouldn't say they were wanted either. Used to pick up dodgy registry keys too, which my mind jumped to for your problems, whereas an antivirus probably wouldn't necessarily do that.

Thanks, I did come across Xposed with my whole 4OD fiasco but for a reason I can't quite remember I did not opt to do it. I think I felt like it was almost too much of a large thing to do and the risk of losing/bricking data vs backing up bothered me plus the level of access I have to give Xposed. For now, sadly, I'll just pass on Miitomo. I shouldn't be forced to hide my rooting from apps merely because I chose to take control of my own device for absolutely legitimate purposes.
-
Ohohoohoho! Tbh I've had it since I got my WiiU and never played - possibly gonna check it out on the PS4 though. It isn't something that massively takes my fancy on the whole, but I'd probs play through it whilst chatting with peeps or so.
-
Yeah was thinking it's probably that. Had major headaches with All4's app post chromecast update too. It's a rooted s3 mini that I put cyanogenmod on, but I used SuperSu to make it look unrooted which fools a lot of apps - but All4 checked the bootloader or something rather than just checking for root access, and knowing Nintendo I'd presume they'd be as thorough with Miitomo. It's annoying because I'd expected rooting is pretty common, and all 3 of my phones so far have been too. Additionally, what happens to anyone who buys used phones/devices who aren't all that technically inclined and so can't understand rooting etc. and why the app doesn't work for them? I doubt many resellers check or unroot phones, do they?

App won't even open on my phone without crashing straight off, fantastic start to it for me -.-

Probably much more often than you actually think or see, but most of the mods and members are pretty good at jumping on said topics that they disappear quite quickly. From what I recall sometimes it comes in big waves, other times it's a trickle. I can't comment on the popularity side of things, but if you think that they're bots then they're probably just exhausting every possibility they can find, and we're obviously still on the surface very Nintendo oriented/focussed. Take this all with a pinch of salt though - I don't know enough about the workings of these bots and many of the older mods/admins will have seen it for a much longer time than me. EDIT: Ooops, hadn't seen Shorty's reply. That'll be a better informed one than mine, @killthenet!

Sadly I have to admit I wasn't actually much into the Fast Show, only really coming across it when it was nearing the end of its run. Back in those days there was none of this new fangled technology to catch up on that shit short of dropping top dime on a VHS or DVD something, and that was a heavenly criteria that it never met. Also I don't think she'll find it funny. So I'm making excuses. I really want to watch it now, actually, if just to see how it's aged. I will also be hard-pushed to walk away, as I'd likely be in my own house and it would really take the weight out of the gesture. Or actually, quite possibly make it.
-
Tbh I'm of a view it won't really affect me either, but that doesn't stop me thinking, possibly to Ronnie's delight, that Sony are absolute fucknuggets for doing this if true. It doesn't even really bother me personally as a consumer, but I think it's a crappy business move. It'll net them some cash in the shorter-term, but I can see it alienating people longer term. What the balance of those will be given the rather large install base, well I guess that's the ultimate consideration.

Yeah we already had that awkward conversation too, though she had actually been born, I think! She read them quite young too iirc, so by the 4th or 5th book was probably on track with them coming out etc. She's a massive potter fan, which I think is part of how I accidentally charmed her :p Not that any of that actually changes the weirdness of it - but as I said I'm not going to dwell on that :p

I too second S.C.G's sentiments, a great thread to start off with and let me also extend a great welcome to our community @kettunen! Personally, I've replayed a lot of old Mario games, often more than once - but SMB1 and Lost Levels have always been a bit of an exception. I just find them frustrating, and not aged well. For their time - sure, great games. Now though? Not so much. I've less time and patience for the 'bastard-hard' approach, even if Mario doesn't meet it, but the constant trial-and-error learning that used to be used to make a game longer just doesn't work for me now - when I was a kid with more time in the world I'd played them through completely as part of All-Stars, but I've just never had an urge to go back to them particularly - any time I have it's been straight up warp cheating to World 8 any way.
-
Yeah I must admit I've only played a few times through since I was a kid (where everything was somehow infinitely harder/I was infinitely more stupid), and I can see the easy arguments. The challenge of the game really comes from the 100%ing(tho the unlock bonuses can also make it easier) - especially trying to tackle a boss without losing stars or then frantically trying to red shell recover if you do for the 100%. I think the killer thing for me was whenever I forgot to top my stars up before hitting the pre-boss middle ring! Some boss battles that stick out in my mind were Raphael the Raven, the Naval Piranha(tho as a child I somehow didn't learn the egg water skim trick despite the dungeons obvious tutorialing, you'd laugh so hard at how I actually wasted time defeating him), and strangely that Tap-Tap the Red Nose. I think for some reason my real ultimate favourite boss as a kid was Hookbill the Koopa! I digress anyhow. I still definitely appreciate the opinions of people playing these old games again today even if they're not favourable - and whilst I personally love Yoshi's Island I can see how it might not be everybody's cup of tea. It was a somewhat new and fresh mixup to the standard mario mechanic, the simple introduction of the egg throwing and various power-ups at stages did, for me, give it quite a Mario-but-not-Mario kinda feeling.
-
Things might change, though I'm quite acutely aware of age gaps right now. I say just enjoy it for whatever it is and see how it goes. If it works, it works. If it turns into something more at some point, it turns into something more. Ofc, it's much easier for me to say that than put it into practise. I'm trying my damned hardest not to get besotted right now. And the problem is....?
-
Do you just use anti-virus or anti-malware stuff as well? I find something like MBAM(the software, not our Buttons!) picks up some of the little adwarey shit that doesn't neccessarily get pulled as viruses. Having said that - I haven't worked with or troubleshooted windows for a while and no idea what sort of state current software versions are in and if they're still useful.

Any PS4 owners for this? Frag convinced myself and Marcamillian to get it for the tenner in the sale. Tried for the first time last night - doesn't do much explaining and whilst our first job(a jewellery store) was really quite a shambles we still managed to finish it ok with a decent amount of monies. Took many more attempts at our next few jobs though - Payday is HARD! Interesting idea though and seems kinda fun so far - mostly just for the fact you're just given the objectives and have to figure your way out(and avoid shooting your gun on a stealth mission, or falling off the stairs and breaking your legs, if you're Marc).
-
You're really killing some of my great faves in this thread, lostmario! I can think of a few moments that did stand out for me - some of the boss battles are really great in it and the total mixup for the final battle with Bowser makes it feel fresh and impending too, imo. I think it does spike difficulty wise at World 5. For sure as I kid I recall that being the world I struggled to 100% the most. However I did actually really enjoy the 100%ing of the game, I think the optional/hidden collectables are a really fun option; and whilst they can be slightly frustrating on some levels at first I don't think they are all that difficult, moreoften just requiring some patience(barring like...maybe 3 hidden things). I think the items option can obvs help a lot with some of them, as well as if you know how to get yourself stocked up on them easily *nudge nudge wink wink* but yeah. I'm rambling. Really enjoyed seeing you (re?)play through some of these old titles again now with a fresh and honest perspective, even if it doesn't sit with my view through the retrospecs. Look forward to hearing about your SM64 adventures....and what possible gripes you could have there :p*! (*actually a few very fair but small gripes to possibly be had with SM64)

So who here's going for this? There's still some 4 day passes and some other day tix left - I'm getting mildly tempted by a potential excursion to Brum for a day ticket. What's usually the best/worst days to go?
