  1. Well, yes, that's all great and good, but one question remains: Was he the master, or the apprentice? is this "replacing" the 3DS line as a handheld, the Wii U as a home console, or both? Because either way, if it is in some way replacing the handheld for Nintendo, there's one massive property which is first party that HAS to be affected by such a change to one screen: Pokémon. Yeah, you can see why @Serebii is doubting this from this alone, in my opinion. The series has thrived on one screen for ~10 years, and has thrived on two for around the same length of time. I mean, recent changes, especially to the layout of the main series games, could make this viable, such as the attacks on the bottom screen in a battle coming from the right hand side, which could easily be used in an instance where there is only one screen. But then, what happens to a massive franchise such as this when we move to one screen which can be upscaled to the TV? Are we getting a handheld Pokémon colosseum game, for example, if this is the case? Just using Pokémon as an example, of course, but it will have effects on the entire Nintendo catalogue, considering that it's the only major player to do anything with two screens - handheld or TV. that being said I sort of now want a Pokémon Colosseum game for the NX with controls on the pad and the game presented on the TV...GOSH DARN WHY WAS THIS NOT ON THE NX?!
  2. Great mockup (even if it does just look like a fusion of the Wii U game pad and the bottom half of the New 3DS). See, I still have a weird problem with the left gaming pad; wouldn't the D-Pad/circle pad setup feel unnatural as opposed to the ABXY buttons and D-Pad? I mean, I know it's just a mockup, but that's something I've seen in pretty much every mockup. Nintendo just reveal this thing so that you can then shut up for 6 months and take my money!
  3. Or Nintendo the Nintendo. It's Ferrari the Ferrari LaFerrari all over again!
  4. Yeah, it just...sounds weird at this point. As hyped as I am for this, I don't think this is the only part of NX. I mean, Nintendo has been pushing a family of brother systems for a while now, so I think it's totally possible that we could see a handheld-only system, a handheld/home console hybrid and a dedicated home console. Would definitely make it easier to sell two consoles as one to parents of kids, by any rate.
  5. If I recall correctly, it was rumoured a while ago that Nintendo and Nvidia had worked up a deal on the NX to keep the price point low, and it was assumed that this was through some sort of chip exclusivity deal to help both parties (Nintendo need to keep their price point low, and, likewise, Nvidia had just been dropped by Sony and Microsoft's current consoles). I definitely see it being the X2, though of course if it was the X1 at launch I wouldn't mind at all - so long as they don't bring out an X2 variant by Christmas 2017? Seen a going point elsewhere that i think is worth bringing up too (sorry in advance if they've already been mentioned): if this is a handheld/home console hybrid which at least replaces the current 3DS lineup, are we seriously leaving dual screens?
  6. Been pondering this all for a short while now, and I have to say, this could be a genius move by Nintendo. To add to my previous idea, which was... ...imagine Nintendo find themselves wanting to jump into 4K and VR in three years time. Instead of releasing a dedicated console, they could simply release a new docking station - possibly with first party trade-ins, that'd be neat - and a VR headset. There's a lot they could do with this all, that's for sure! Going to be interesting to see the next stage for a lot of first-party properties, such as Pokémon and Metroid, amongst pretty much all of the others. I mean, I don't want to get ahead of myself and get people too excited. The thing could totally bomb. It's just a theory. A game theory.
  7. I've been doing some research into this, and here I think is a rather telling quote: "But how efficient is it? We were told that Tegra X1 hits peak power consumption of 10 watts when rendering an Unreal Engine 4 demo. That’s certainly impressive when you consider the Xbox needs 100 watts to do the same thing." A word of warning on this matter, though: "However, 10 watts is still way too much for a tablet—most tablet processors consume maybe half that at the very top end." Now, let's not forget that this chip is over a year old, first and foremost, meaning it may have been engineered so as to be more powerful and efficient since then, which doesn't seem to be too far reality considering that, the last I heard at least, Nvidia had teamed up with Nintendo for this console (allowing them to strike great deals which could drive the price point down, after Microsoft and Sony moved away from them for the PS4 and X1).
  8. Okay, here's another thing I've been thinking about (sorry, I keep sporadically blurting stuff out; not trying to be rude or anything!): the handheld itself could play the games at 720p (cost and size wise, this would make total sense) and then the dock - I have to definitely assume this has a dock - will contain the extra processing power to make the game play and look stunning, almost as good as - if not more powerful than - other mainstream home consoles such as the PS4 and XBOX ONE. It could also serve as a charging station, too? EDIT: thinking about that, I could see the NX releasing with the dock - meaning it is both a handheld and home console - but further down the line the dock could be sold separately (perhaps even upgraded?!) to the handheld part. I don't know, seems 2/3 handheld, 1/3 console at this point, so it'll definitely be interesting to see how primarily handheld Nintendo franchises - such as Pokémon - make their way over?
  9. I mean, this thing has got to be at least as powerful as the Wii U, right? To run Breath of the Wild at at least the same running power, anyway? That said, it'd be a mighty fine achievement if this thing were at least as powerful as the Wii U. Only problems I'm potentially seeing here are charging and bullies. Will Nintendo offer a first-party insurance program not too dissimilar to Apple Care? Because, I mean, the console would be very easy to damage, and I see there being riots if we then have to sort out replacing a £200+ console.
  10. The Eurogamer renders are probably most like the "real" unconfirmed thing. That being said, no idea how the controller with both a circle pad and D-pad would work...and I definitely see this having some Pro controllers for bigger hands and a more immersive controlling experience. Pinch of salt and all that, but if we get something like this, then HOLY SMOKES AM I IN! EDIT: okay, on second thoughts: how often will this thing need charging? I mean, I'd expect it'd be pretty draining on any battery...
  11. I don't think I've been this jealous in a while. There was literally ONE Dratini in my 5 mile radius, which I caught, but there's NO chance I'd be able to even get a Dragonair. Oh, cruel world!
  12. Aha, I guess. The big worry, though, is that this is coming off the back of BvS - which didn't do great critically or financially - Suicide Squad needed a great record with fans and critics and, of course, the box office. Am I right in thinking that this is the first time we'll see The Joker and Batman in a 15 live action film together? Because kids would have been coming to see them if the rating were any lower, and, while the 15 for Deadpool was pretty much required to make it what it was, I wouldn't say Suicide Squad needed it. But at least it saves kids from seeing people's heads blow up, that's neat.
  13. Haven't given my opinion yet, so here goes. Wonder Woman looks great. A LOT of action, no sense of story, absolutely perfect for the Comic Con crowd. I have no issues with that trailer at all, and I have a feeling that the shot of those bullets ricocheting from her shield is going to make for a cool poster and art in the years to come. Now, Justice League. This footage was okay. I mean, YEAH, UNITE THE SEVEN SIX FIVE! But Bruce Wayne seemed...like a sort of gimmick. This footage really reminded me of the Legends of Tomorrow trailer. Ezra Miller looks to be a good Flash, though I hate his and Cyborg's costumes at this point. I'll give them a break considering they aren't anywhere near finishing shooting yet, but when that next trailer comes out, I'll be gritting my teeth hoping for nothing but excellence. Smart to let everyone know how much of a beast Aquaman is too.
  14. I'm definitely excited for this, though kind of worried as to how many clips they're dropping on YouTube every five minutes or so... I'm actually genuinely interested in Will Smith's Deadshot after some of the recent stuff, and of course Leto's take on The Joker. Still though, I imagine that 15 rating is going to hurt its box office...
  15. What does everyone think about the possibility that NX will be the final product name for, well, the NX? Or are they just continuing to use that codename across all mediums until they reveal it in September[/s]? We see what appears to be an actual Nintendo logo for the NX at the end of the Sonic 2017 trailer, as shown here: I've also got to admit, I've grown used to it.
  16. Well, I don't mind this. A step in any direction at this point is good enough for me, and it does leave room for growth in the same world for other movies. But I'm gutted they aren't going with that I would have liked a lot more, which is either a Jungle Book CGI style Pokémon live action move or adaptations from the game lore. Because as a fan I know how rich the history of the Pokémon world is (say what you like about the generically near-identical plot of each new game), and it seems a bit of a waste that of the 20 year esteemed history of this franchise, it's one of the newest spinoff games being made.
  17. I've got to say, Iwata might end up saving Nintendo from any doubts that were around before almost singlehandedly if the NX sells well, certainly worked wonders in terms of GO. And I think that might be the worrying part for them: where do they go for such ideas in the future?
  18. No idea why he wants to come to us to be honest, but if he does, I certainly won't be complaining. It would probably bring Matic's term at us to a close, though, unless Conte can change his mind. Kante does very much seem the Ladsana Diarra/Claude Makelele type, so he could certainly fit in with us (or any top team in Europe). Personally, I'd have him stay at Leicester. I'm a fan of Chelsea, sure, but I'm also a fan of good football, and he's a major component of what they did last season and how far France got in the Euro's, so it would be a shame to see a player of his quality to leave (especially just for money). On another note, forget Middlesbrough trying to stay up; they're building a team for the Europa League (at least!).
  19. Played a lot less today - had Star Wars Celebration to cover as well as sorting out some birthday stuff - but that didn't stop me from setting an incense on the way to the shopping complex (a good 30 minute drive) and finding a Dratini!
  20. Had planned to walk about 3 miles this morning to the local shopping complex as opposed to getting the bus, but seeing as it started raining, the bus seemed like a smarter move. Dropped an incense for the duration of my ride, and found: • Dratini • Machoke • Hypno • A Fearow (which got away due to the game freezing...) • Wartortle • Vulpix • Geodude And a bunch of others very rare around my area! Now to find more Dratini...
  21. It's amazing that it'll probably be this and not the five years of lobbying by smartphone enthusiasts which results in an increase in battery life... On another note, everyone heard about T-Mobile (in America at least)? Starting next Tuesday there will be no data deducted from your tariff for an entire year just for GO (I mean, it uses like 0.01GB per hour as is, but still!)
  22. Well, I'll put it this way: this is the most I've heard the word "Pokémon" in a day for at least the past five years, possibly more. Bravo Niantic, Pokémon, Nintendo and Google. You didn't just dramatically raise interest to an all-time high level for an extremely well known franchise, you also did it whilst getting people to move about and socialise, an epitome of what the games are truly about. That and our Lord and Saviour, Helix Kudos to them, no matter how well it did/n't test in the beta, it takes guts to release an app like this. It's one of those "lightning in a bottle" moments.
  23. Huh, strange. I noticed during the official livestream playthrough of Sun and Moon that the female interviewer kept asking prying questions which everyone obviously said HELL NO DO NOT ASK THAT to, such as Tapu Koko, and so on and so forth. Seems the PR people over at Nintendo are going to have a tougher job not spoiling Sun and Moon for fellow fans as opposed to it being through developers and such!
