Saw 3 films yesterday: Oblivion (finally) Too bad of the plot holes, because the visuals and atmosphere are awesome. I also love Andrea Riseborough. Trance Awesome. The only critique I could have is they could even do more with the story and script, making it more complicated and clever. Now the story is great, but it’s also clearly explained. Cast is great, I always love Vincent Cassel, and fans of Rosario Dawson will surely get their fix. Los amantes pasajeros New Pedro Almodóvar. This time its a comedy. At least I think it’s supposed to be. He should stick to dramas because this was dreadful.

So ehm, which other figures do you have on order? Maybe we should consider ordering in bulk, because I have the exact same figures waiting to be shipped (though I will skip any Morrigan figures ) Which remind me, there’s a figure I should pre-order. Also, which template lets you fill up all the screen? Half of the screen isn’t used with the default template.

I was out pretty much all day yesterday, and it looks I will be gone for most of Saturday and Sunday. I haven’t caught up yet with the latter half of the previous day, so I don’t know what the hot topics were, except for the votes I saw on ReZ. Aw crap. Should’ve pre-ordered that Ellie Edition. I didn’t because I didn’t know how much money I’ll be spending this month (big festival coming up). Strangely enough, I can still find the Joel edition..

What I want is a proper Mario. And I’m not going to watch the trailer again. The “3d” worlds are only 3D to accommodate the extra players. The levels looked pretty linear to me, with no real opportunity to explore. So I see no other reasons why this would be 3D. It reminded me of the first “3D” games on the Playstation, after we got Super Mario 64. Again, it looks fun but doesn’t get me excited.

Personally I’m pretty hyped, but that is solely because of Megaman. I did say in the Smash Brothers thread I hoped for a 3rd party character announcement, since that would create some hype, and boy did it! While not as epic as Megaman, I think the Wii fit trainer is hilarious. Again, even though the hype is pretty much solely because of Megaman, I’m pretty pleased with what I saw. The only exception was Super Mario 3D land. I initially thought they snuck in a 3DS announcement, but it is a Wii U title. It looked somewhat fun, but I hate the way it is 3D even though it’s obvious the gameplay is almost 2D. Basically I would prefer a New Super Mario Bros title over this. Mario Kart looked cool. Bayonetta looked sexy (love the new hairstyle! Please I want a new figure of her!). X looked cool. Funnily enough I found that Miiverse / Art academy update awesome. I didn’t care too much about the 3rd party clips or indie games. These are all games I’m either going to ignore or I will buy on PC. Wind Waker.. I am not excited, but I’m carefully optimistic. It does look gorgeous, but it’s crazy how soon the hype went down for me after the initial announcement. It looks gorgeous but somehow doesn’t wow me anymore. That however doesn’t change the fact that I will likely only buy this if they add in enough new content.

First of all, I haven’t seen all Pixar films (though I will probably, one day). I love Up exactly because of the drama. I can agree with the critique that it’s a bit in contrast with the rest of the film, though that didn’t hamper my enjoyment. It’s similar with Wall-E in that regard, the first half of the film was amazing, the rest wasn’t. In Wall-E it was a bigger problem, because the contrast was bigger. Personally I blame Disney. I suspect Pixar are a bit restraint in the stuff they do because of them. I would love it if they break up their partnership, so Pixar can unleash their full potential. Wall-E and Up are perfect examples of films hinting Pixar is capable of some intense shit. Animation you don’t see other studios doing. I want more of that. More drama. Stuff that’s not (necessarily) family-orientated.

Hmm, if you require a laptop for other reasons, I’d go for a entry level laptop (again) and a medium range desktop. Otherwise desktop all the way, they are always cheaper.

Hmm, some people don’t know what a “gameplay demo” trailer entails. Still don’t know anything. The woman looked familiar.

Yeah.. On paper it looks like a film I shouldn’t even consider.. But the trailer has a bit of a “so bad it’s fun” vibe. I dunno. It’s a shame though, regardless of the film’s ultimate quality, the cast is plain awesome.

I love Up. And I like Upular.

Which is not true. Some languages take more or less words to say the same thing than others. It can also depend on the sentence itself. With dubbing, it has to be an exact length (and specific rhythm). It can’t be longer, but it can’t be shorter either. With subtitles, you generally have more room to work with, and more freedom to choose a translation that does the source justice. It doesn’t happen often, but occasionally, when I watch subs with English spoken series or films, I can appreciate some good translations where the text does not match the spoken words literally, but offers a perfect translation because of it (regarding sayings, or jokes for example).

Oh wow. It is not being done by Rare? God, even Microsoft has written off Rare. To many people, Rare was obviously dead an incredibly long time ago, but this news should be the final nail for even the most optimistic and hopeful nostalgists.
