  1. I know Splatoon 2 is usually the post-MKLeague game on Thursday night, but with it being Splatfest this weekend anyway, I’m wondering if anyone is up for some Rocket League instead? Plus with the anniversary event currently running, it’s a good time to be playing. Oh, and we could finally get some N-E Rumble games going too! @Glen-i @Nicktendo @Vileplume2000 @nekunando @BowserBasher @Clownferret @Sméagol
  2. I think the main reason I dislike random battles is because they can really pull me out of the exploration aspect, killing the vibe of the game in the process. For example, exploring a creepy looking dungeon in an RPG is something I definitely enjoy, love it actually. Soaking up the surroundings and the atmosphere, it’s great stuff. When you really get into an experience like that, and then it’s abruptly interrupted by a random battle, the illusion is shattered. It quite literally rips you out of the game world and all of a sudden any connection you had to it is gone, momentarily at least. Also, (and this one is probably exclusive to me and my short attention span ) it often causes me to lose my bearings, so once the battle is over I’ve even forgotten which direction I was traveling in beforehand. Then I might be going back where I was coming from originally, and by the time I realise and chage direction again, 2 or 3 more random battles as punishment!
  3. Have to admit I wasn’t overly keen when I first started playing, the presentation is indeed pretty lacklustre. I’ve been sticking with it though and the game has grown on me a bit. But yeah, the pacing is all over the shop. There’s quite a lot to take in at first and the opening stages/sectors are ludicrously easy, same goes for battles against other player’s bots too. Eventually though the challenge picks up (both in the main missions and the bot battles) and there can actually be some pretty intense moments. Strategy then plays a more important role as well, meaning you need to keep a close eye on your shield, know when to back off, when to attack etc. It definitely improves over time, but the way the game is designed (or rather, how it’s been changed by the switch to F2P) makes it quite a gradual process. I can see myself playing for a while yet though, at least while progress is only hindered by timers and not the need for in-game currency.
  4. It’s always disappointing to discover a Switch game that doesn’t feature recording (I was annoyed it wasn’t in Mercenary Kings most recently) but especially for any newer releases since that system update. Surely all new games should include the feature now. Anyway, nice to see people are enjoying Octopath Traveller and that it’s doing well. I wish it was the type of game I could enjoy on a similar level, but as it stands I’m happy to wait for a potential sale or just skip it altogether.
  5. A patch is arriving on Friday, including a much needed Bowser Jr. nerf! Good to see them responding relatively quickly to some of the balancing problems this game clearly has. Gives me a bit more hope for its future now.
  6. I’m still managing ok with a measly 32GB card, and this is with an almost entirely digital collection. But yeah, I also make use of the archive feature once I fully complete a game. Just got it set not to remove MK8, Splatoon 2 and Rocket League, my goto online multiplayer games. I think my rule going forward though is going to be that any game over 10GB in size (or that’s lacking multiplayer) will be purchased as the physical version. As much as I love the idea of having every single game ever on my Switch at all times, it’s just not feasible with the storage situation being what it is.
  7. I really don’t get why there isn’t a Switch news channel for this game, I always end up finding out about the events late (just like the anniversary one that’s on at the moment ) meaning much less chance to grab the event items. Anyway, for those that also weren’t aware of the latest event, an extra mode for it has been added to the online playlist that features a unique arena/ball physics. It runs until the 23rd. Also, I had no idea that Rocket League started out as the rather poorly titled Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars on PS3, ten years ago! Good job Psyonix went multi-platform for the sequel. Oh, and didn’t call it Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars 2.
  8. Been getting my 3DS XL sorted out in anticipation for this game. Thought I was going to have to get a new battery (as it was no longer holding a charge) but before doing that I decided to open it up and remove/reinstall the existing one, and to my utter amazement that seems to have completely solved the problem! It’s so nice when “have you tried turning it off and on again” style d.i.y repairs actually work. Then I replaced the severely scratched screen protector that I had on the touch screen. This was a bit of a botch job as I didn’t have another one, so instead just cut the protector designed for the top screen (from the same Hori set, but which I had never previously installed) to the correct size to fit the touch screen. Bam! 2 for the price of 1! Wario would be proud. My trusty old 3DS XL is now good as new and ready for WarioWare Gold action!
  9. That’s it for me, cheers guys.
  10. I’m almost at the 2nd super bonus already, these weapons are nuts.
  11. Yeah, I’m up for that.
  12. I think so, yeah. Yep, that seems more likely. The best thing to transfer from this to the Switch version will actually be all the dedicated AC fans that I’ve been accumulating on the friend list, should make whatever online functionality the next game has all the more enjoyable.
  13. Great games earlier. Some of those bosses were dropping in seconds! I also love how you blast through the majority of stages now, and I just follow along, picking up all the goodies. I’ve cleared every stage now BTW, but there’s still plenty to do. Are you gonna go for the speedrun achievement? I’m guessing that’s what unlocks the final rank. Wonder if there are any additional gear unlocks tied to that rank as well... Snapped a pic of us showing off some classic swords: Notice that mine is in front, which obviously proves Lion-O is better than He-Man.
  14. Hehehe! I’m exactly the same. Ever since the fortune cookie thing came into play though I’ve given up on that. Get the feeling nothing will end up transferring to a future Switch AC anyway. I wonder if they’re going to do a bug catching tournament on this at some point? Seems weird that we’ve had 3 fishing ones, but none for bugs.
  15. @Hero-of-Time, not sure what happened there after I re-joined you, but your character was freaking out all over the base camp! Shooting, rolling, getting hit, picking up items etc... was hilarious. I suppose you were in a mission and for some reason it was showing your character in the lobby. Anyway, I got a room open if you’re still about. BTW, I think I need to get some of that homing shot ammunition myself. looks very handy indeed.
  16. I joined but you must be mid-mission. It’s funny though as I’m still getting the little popups every time you pick an item up. Ah, there you are.
  17. I’ve already given Gulliver all of my duplicates. Occasionally I just craft up 10 log fences (the cheapest/quickest thing to make) and give him those. But, it’s generally not worth the effort for a couple of measly animal treats. Anyway, I’m currently 1 bug away from completing the penultimate task. Not really fussed about the final task as the reward is only 1 of those stone thingys, but will probably get it done before the event ends regardless. Still no sign of any of the bug/fish I need though.
  18. Gonna be playing sporadically throughout the day (this is a nice little title to chip away at in between other stuff ) but if you’re up for a longer game later on, I can be online for a couple of hours from 5pm, and again from 8pm.
  19. Just did the final boss myself, had to do it twice actually as it crashed during the ending. Yeah, the stability of this game (or rather, the lack of it at times) is definitely the worst thing about it, so strange. Anyway, have unlocked a load of new skills and weapon parts now, went on a massive spending spree after the final boss. There is just so much stuff to collect in this game though, crazy.
  20. No probs. Actually the game has crashed on me quite a few times as well, more so than any other Switch game I reckon. But I belive it’s a pretty small dev team that worked on the game, so gotta cut ‘em some slack. BTW, had you been checking out the hunting grounds while ranking up? Glad you enjoyed it. You’ve also pointed me the direction of many entertaining games over the years, so glad that I could return the favour.
  21. Great session on this tonight, @Hero-of-Time! Some very unexpected moments too... But did the bionic mod NPC disappear from your game also? I did the rescue mission again after you left, but nothing. Did a quick search online and there’s quite a few results about it, hope it ain’t glitched. *EDIT* Nevermind, she’s back now. Phew! Thought I was gonna be stuck with the same mods for the rest of the game. BTW, was checking out the new weapons...
  22. I got a new gun made up too, but not had a chance to take on the boss yet. Gonna jump on in a few minutes though, so if you’re still about and fancy helping out, feel free to join.
  23. The fact that they’ve gone and made this particular improvement so far into the lifespan of the game, but still refuse to provide the option of skipping the intro, is pretty annoying.
