  1. I was browsing the on sale section of the eShop recently and this game caught my eye, did a bit of research and discovered that it's supposed to be like a cross between Metal Slug and Monster Hunter! Anyway, despite it having mixed reviews I decided to give it a try (started playing yesterday) and yeah, really enjoying it so far. It actually does feel a bit like a 2D run and gun version of Monster Hunter! Complete with grinding for materials to forge new weapons and capture missions. Gameplay-wise it's pretty nice (albeit somewhat repetitive) and the pixel art/animation is wonderful. Also (much to my surprise) the game features online co-op, and although it took a while to gather other players, once they had connected it ran perfectly. So yeah, anyone that enjoys either of those games I mentioned above should definitely look into this while it's still on offer, and if you're a fan of both then I'd say it's a no-brainer! Gonna go ahead and mention a few peeps that I reckon might enjoy this: @Hero-of-Time @Glen-i @Dcubed @Ugh first aid @S.C.G @Grazza @Kaepora_Gaebora @Kav @Blade @dazzybee @Mokong @lostmario Not sure if any of you have played it already (I believe the original release was also a PS+ title at some point) but if not, check it out. Also, it would be cool to get some N-E co-op sessions going. Here's the trailer:
  2. That’s it for me. Cheers everyone.
  3. Didn’t see this until now and was confused by Bees.
  4. Why do I always miss the cool Salmon Run sessions that don’t include a charger?
  5. I’m cool with either.
  6. There definitely seems to be less players in Simple Mode, but it’s been that way since the game launched as far as I can tell. Yep, I’ve been playing simple games exclusively since the start of the July tournament, and that matchmaking issue (if you can call it an issue) is the only thing that’s happened to me occasionally as well.
  7. You could be having that same enjoyment every Thursday evening if you joined the N-E League. I know, I know... You’re not interested, but figured I’d mention it again anyway. Glad to hear you’re still getting some fun from the game though, it truly is a multiplayer classic.
  8. Oh my word, the demo has got me so hyped for this!! Lol at there being a microgame where you have to attach Joy-Con to a Switch. I’m still a little annoyed this is exclusive to 3DS (especially with Sushi Striker and Captain Toad being on both) but I now know that once I start playing the full game I’ll have forgotten about that pretty quickly. And it looks like there’s going to be substantial use of the mic in this game too, so that no doubt influenced the decision to keep it 3DS only. Yeah, the game features full voice acting (which is awesome BTW ) and according to the manual there’s even an option to re-dub Wario’s dialogue! The amiibo art thing sounds entertaining as well. This game really is going to be GOLD.
  9. I picked up Super One More Jump recently, great little game. Would definitely recommend it to anyone that's a fan of twitch gameplay/platformers. There's also a demo on the eShop which gives a pretty good taste of the game. It's what sold me on it actually.
  10. For some reason I didn't think Pocket Rumble would feature online play, so was going to give it a miss. Very interested in checking the game out now though. Should help to scratch that fighting game itch until Smash Ultimate comes out.
  11. IN!
  12. Awesome stuff, Glen-i. Loving the pastel profile pics! And this: Congratulations on the win too! No mean feat considering the constant barrage of attacks you have to endure every race, 99.9% of which are probably sent your way by me. Like that "Bloody hell!" Bob-omb you narrowly avoided on GBA Mario Circuit last night... Anyway, looking forward to the next part of the league. Very curious about these random tasks too, so yeah, I be IN for next week!
  13. I might put together a vid of tonight's action, but in the meantime, here's the main highlight: Thanks to @Glen-i, for providing yet another genuine laugh out loud moment.
  14. Right I’m off too. Thanks for the games everyone, was good fun.
  15. Ok, turf war it is.
  16. Or private battle with spectator rotation.
  17. Give us a minute then...
  18. I’m cool with either.
  19. Hey, at least it backfired spectacularly.
  20. Stilllaughingaboutit.gif Can’t wait for Smash Ultimate.
  21. IN!
  22. So I finished the "adventure" mode, and man... even with low expectations it was a serious let-down. It's not just the lack of content that's the problem either, it's also lacking the polish you'd usually expect from a high-profile Nintendo game. There were times when it almost felt like I was playing a knock-off Mario Tennis, that's how lacklustre some of this stuff is! I mean, basic world map design, incredibly bland UI, boring missions that are either way too easy or ridiculously difficult... I could go on and on. It screams of wasted potential. Quite how it's possible to have access to the entire Super Mario IP yet create something which is severely lacking in variety and more importantly, completely soulless, I'll never know. Actually, I think I do know, and it's probably that the staff at Camelot have simply become sick of making these games, so instead of it being a fun project to work on that receives due love and attention, it's just a chore that they want to get out of the way as fast as possible. Well, that's what the end product feels like this time around, at least as far as the adventure mode is concerned. Although having said that, it's not like other aspects of the game aren't showing similar signs of neglect. Stuff like those recycled renders on the character select screen and court banners are also not a good look, and an indication that they either couldn't be arsed to create original content, or weren't given the opportunity/time to do so. Anyway, here's hoping this game is set to receive free DLC updates in the future (and not just additional characters) otherwise I reckon it's going to leave a lot of people very weary of the series going forward.
  23. Good games last night @BowserBasher & @dazzybee! I didn’t realise you could set the game to alternate between singles and doubles in free play, or that spectating was possible. I definitely need to get my controller situation sorted out though, the stick drifting problem is getting really bad now.
