The developers of Pixel Action Heroes are giving away codes here (for US eShop only I believe): https://m.facebook.com/cypronia/ Pretty dodgy looking game, but I have to admit the fake movie characters gave me a chuckle.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe League 2018 (Final results now in)

I wasn’t capturing tonight, so afraid not. Got pics of all 3 final GP results though, if that helps. Anyway, that was a funny theme. I’m pretty pleased with my performance too for using a light character, so not used to that. -
You KNOW it!

25 years later and Super Mario Kart truly is the game that just keeps on giving. This happened a few weeks back now (while playing the SNES Mini version) but I only got around to capturing it recently (gotta love the rewind feature of the mini ). So yeah, I was playing as Bowser (a character that I've never been very good with) and during this race on Choco Island, I completely messed up while trying to avoid an imminent banana peel from DK Jr. This caused me to crash into a Piranha Plant, but "luckily" I had Lightning as my item, so activated it right away to get back into the race. The tables had turned, the CPU were all tiny and squishable. I almost got instant revenge against DK Jr. but missed. Then came a LOL moment, when tiny Luigi ran into a banana peel! And what's this? Tiny Mario is just ahead, time to squish! I thought to myself. But just as I'm just about to perform said squish, bam! Tiny Mario suddenly turns into, Invincible Tiny Mario! Ooof!! What a cheeky git! That's cool, I've got a Red Shell now, eat this! Pow! Hehehe! How you like that? Oh, he's still tiny, ok time to squish... or not. And just for good measure, Yoshi then nicked a coin off me and DK Jr. (who's responsible for the entire fiasco) overtakes. Actually, I stopped playing from that point as I was on the floor in stitches! Anyway, here it is in video form: It's everything most people probably hate about the game, but I absolutely love and just can't get enough of. If SNES games ever become a part of Nintendo's Switch Online thing and they release an online enabled version of SMK, I'll probably explode.

Anyone who enjoys Nintendo and owns a 3DS needs to get it I reckon, it's absolutely filled to the brim with varied and fun content! Speaking of which, last night I unlocked everything in the Toy Room and... OH MY GOD!! I've clocked 15 hours playtime so far, but think I'm going to be playing this for a looooooong time yet! Still got loads of the missions (in-game achievements) to do as well. Seriously, there are hundreds of them!

Unlocked all the microgames. Wow, what a collection! Anyone that's completely new to the series is in for a right treat with Gold. So cool how there's stuff in there from pretty much every other WarioWare game, even D.I.Y. Showcase and Game & Wario get a look in! Also...

Yeah, that’s bizarre. I would’ve been interested in one of these too (especially with my left joy-con being all weird sometimes) but not if it doesn’t work in the grip.
-
I can't stop smiling! This game is indeed pure gold. Sure I've seen a lot of it before, but there are also many surprises, even for a WarioWare nut like me. In fact it's really fun just seeing how the old microgames have been spruced up or altered for this version. And the presentation is just so good. Loving the new style of cutscenes with voice acting, lots of laugh out loud moments from those already. And they even snuck baby face SFX into the menu music.

Still waiting for WarioWare to arrive, unfortunately.

Yeah, I quickly learnt not to do that. There's just no point trying to save better weapons for the boss, when there's no guarantee you'll even reach it in the first place! As for saving progress, I think you can only do it after defeating a boss (before proceeding to the next floor) and only with the latest enhancements they made to the game enabled (although I believe they're on by default). I pretty much always mess up a run if I save and return to it later on though so will probably avoid doing that as much as possible.

Couldn’t find a thread for this, so figured I’d make one. Anyway, I finally picked it up recently in the sale. This is one of those games that’s impossible to complete unless you’re a wizard or something, right? I think the furthest I’ve got is to the 3rd floor, and I’m still not sure how I even managed that. The worst thing is when you get absolutely no weapons at all on the first floor and then have to face a boss with the pea shooter. Anyone else playing?

I can imagine. Loading time is pretty much one of the most important things to get right on Switch, long or frequent load screens completely go against one of the main concepts of the console, not to mention the cartridge format.
-
If you’ve never played the Wii version then I imagine it’d probably still be enjoyable. I had a great time with the original game back in the day, but would’ve liked to see a bit more done with this port.
-
It’s a real shame there wasn’t a bit more care put into this port. With further refinement and some online features, it could’ve been fantastic. Looks like they pretty much just chucked the Wii version on Switch though, hugely wasted opportunity.
-
They do, just not often enough and the discounts are usually minimal. It’s seems to happen more often in Japan. MK8 DX and ARMS are both on sale in the Japanese eShop at the moment.
-
Funnily enough I don’t remember it bothering me so much on Overwatch, not played it in ages though. In fact I should probably get rid of my copy seeing as it’s useless without a PS+ subscription.
-
I’m on 1008 coins now. What did you get?
-
Yeah, sorry I didn’t stick around yesterday, but I wasn’t feeling it either.

That was great! BTW, nice touch @S.C.G. -
Aaaaand Paladins has been deleted from my Switch. The insane loading and countdown timers are a dealbreaker. If they ever manage to speed things up I might return to it. But yeah, really not sure why there has to be an entire minute just to choose a character, followed by a few more seconds to “customise it” (which for most people means do nothing ) and then yet another timer before battle, purely for faffing about/wasting even more time. The whole thing is in need of some serious streamlining! It makes the unskipable intro and lobby system of Splatoon 2 look lightning fast.

I be up for some splat ups, sure.

My rediscovery of 3DS continues (as I wait for WarioWare to arrive) yesterday saw me playing some Mario Golf & Tennis. Man, it’s just embarrassing how barebones Aces is compared to the 3DS titles! Both of those games (especially golf) have so much cool gear to unlock and great mini-games too. How the hell did they not bring back Super Mario Tennis for the Switch game?! That alone would’ve made a big difference to the very lacking single player experience in Aces. I think it was also a bad idea to drop Miis and the customisation features. I mean all that stuff is already part of the 3DS games, they literally just had to tidy it up a bit (if that) and bring it over to Switch. I suppose there’s at least some hope that a potential Mario Golf on Switch could see the return of some of that stuff, golf is definitely the better of the two 3DS titles, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see a similar situation happen on Switch. Even so, I really think they should look at patching in some stuff to Aces before doing anything else, outside of multiplayer that game is a serious letdown.

Hopefully. I am so ready for that rumoured MK8 DLC. Not to mention some solid info on the Switch online thing, the NES games and cloud saves.
-
It just wouldn’t be right if you didn’t complete it before me, despite starting it later. Actually I’m pretty much done (99%) just need to find the final lost item. Anyway, great write-up. Hopefully it’ll encourage others to try the game. As you pointed out there are a few nods to DKC, so fans of that franchise should get a kick out of Heroki. Just don’t go in expecting a DKC style level of challenge or you’ll be disappointed, this game is very much on the easy side. But as you say, it makes for a nice and relaxing experience, especially on the underwater stages.
