  1. 3DSXL! Got it used for £84 and I am selling my original 3DS for about £70 so it's not a bad trade at all.
  2. I'm apparently one of the few here who only plays one game at a time. I just finished Dishonored's two story-DLCs so I've started Alice: Madness Returns now. It's an average game so far but it reminds me of early days 3D platformers and collectathons.
  3. Had my first run today after the injury; no problems. Ran 4.05 km in 17 minutes (time running while waiting for green at one occasion). Since there were no pain in my knee, I guess I'll ease myself back to squats now before I fully return to crossfit. Looking forward to that! Also, getting quite good at strict pull-ups now. Think I did about 45 today before giving up (not at once, though! Did 6, then 10 push-ups, 6 more, 10 push-ups, then 5 as long as I could, then 4 as long as I could, etc. all with 10 push-ups in between).
  4. I think you're right on that regard. I might have switched it up in my head. Whatever, the that feels 'natural' while swinging is the correct way! Personally, I think 30 seconds' rest is a bit too much so I'd go with perhaps 40/20 or even 45/15.
  5. Tried the demo today; I found controlling Murphy and Rayman at the same time quite difficult (as you sometimes had to hold B and press A while holding RT) but other than that - awesome!
  6. Reviewers love this game, even on other consoles than Wii U. I'm really looking forward to playing it. Origins was fantastic and this is supposedly better in every way.
  7. That workout sounds hard on the breath. You'll have to breath correctly during the swings to keep your breath under control. In whilst it goes up, out down. Easy but in the beginning it feels strange as it's a rather fast breath when you aren't having a hard time. But! When my knee's back in order (it's getting there, might try a short run next week), I shall try it out, it looks hellishly fun.
  8. Exactly. Which is why I'm a terrible swimmer. Also, my girlfriend hates that I hate water as she wants to go to the beach and swim and I don't want to do either.
  9. But the problem is that I don't like getting my head under water. At all. That's why my neck hurts. I should probably join some pre-beginners course in swimming but I just can't be arsed.
  10. I went for a swim today. I was reminded how much I hate swimming. After 30 minutes (and just about 26 lanes, I think) my ankle and neck were hurting and my arms were tired from breast stroke swimming - the only swimming technique I know. I know, I know, if neck and ankles are hurting from swimming, I'm doing it wrong but I don't care much as I don't enjoy swimming and don't enjoy being in the water at all. The life guard even asked me this so it's quite clear, I believe.
  11. Completed Knife of Dunwall this morning. Took longer than I'd thought it would (about 7 hours with constant reloads) and was considerably more challenging that expected. But did it on low chaos, no kills and no alarms; I'll just do the same for Brigmore Witches and then do both on high chaos which should be considerably easier now - the main game was at least. I liked it, though. It was more of the same great gameplay as the main game.

  13. Indeed. I don't really buy games to play multiplayer which is why I'm always a bit "meh" when obvious single-player titles have that tacked on multiplayer (Tomb Raider, Batman: AO etc.). Also, look at Bioshock. No multiplayer, great single-player.
  14. It still looks awesome but I wish they would stop showing all the bad guys. Also, seems like they take some (a lot of) inspiration from the Knightfall-storyline. Not bad but hopefully we won't be playing as Azrael.
  15. Lack of single-player? Damn. I thought it looked nice, which I rarely think about this kind of game.
  16. I think we can agree that mixing it up is best in all regards. Even long distance runners (10+ km) get better results from HIIT (and heavy weight lifting!) but obviously you need to train for it to be able to run for a prolonged period of time without damaging the body.
  17. I just saw in the Sony conference that they did some remote play with Vita for ACIV. I didn't know that would work so well. It's quite a blow to Wii U then.
  18. I'm not interested in calories in any way; I don't exercise to lose weight as I'm already low in that regard - 180 cm, 66-67 kg, and a BFP at about 9.2. I do HIIT because it's the best way to get (and stay) in shape. It's better for your heart than steady-state cardio, recent research suggests. And it's way more fun! It's excruciatingly hard mentally but afterwards you just feel great. Also, don't mix up speed and power. Speed is measured in km/h or RPM while power is measured in watt. Try for yourself, do one sitting (say, 10 minutes) at a semi-low speed. Then do the same distance at high speed. Obviously, you get to the same point faster at higher speeds (RPM!) but you should burn about the same amount of calories if you haven't touched the power.
  19. It doesn't depend on the speed at all (try that yourself) but of course there can be a difference in the power. If you're cycling through mud then 1 km is harder than downhill plain road. But on average, it should fit.
  20. I think someone mentioned to me that you burn about 70 kcal per km at running/walking and half that at cycling. It applies to most people with a difference of 5 either way depending on your weight. -- Oh, forgot to mention. I went to a physical therapist today to have him look at my knee. He says nothing bad is wrong, it just took a severe beating. I should give it another week's rest before going back to hard exercise but I can squat till it hurts (which is at about 80 degrees so no ass to the grass at the moment but better than nothing).
  21. Impressive. Even though I'm in great shape, I wouldn't be able to keep that speed for 10 minutes. Or well, I haven't tried but 120 RPM is killing me after 20 seconds in HIIT (20 sec @ 120 RPM, 40 sec @ 90-100 RPM, 60 sec @ 70-80 RPM, five-seven times that) so I don't believe that I would be able to do it. Usually, when I do 20 minutes biking, I muster an average of about 90 RPM. I don't like cycling with more than 110 RPM, though, so I stay at 90 and then up the power instead. (I hate that it's so different from bike to bike how many watt you output. On some bikes, I can only do about 250 watt for 20 minutes, whilst on others I can do about 320! It should be standardized.) Then I don't believe the distance counter.

  23. Cycle 1 km per minute? That's like the professionals - are you sure that's accurate??
  24. It'll have to be seriously uphill for one to gain anything from 10 km biking in an hour. I would say that it's a waste of time. Walking for an hour is much better exercise than that.
  25. Fixed. :P But yeah, it's all about speed and power. I usually do 10 km biking in 20 minutes when riding for exercise (both indoor and outdoor). Recently, I've been more inclined to do intervals, though, so I don't quite reach that distance.
