  1. lol I love to lol!!1 I just hope nobody says it in real life like Jeremy from purepwnage.
  2. What browser are you using? Give Firefox a try. Edit: Oh the irony, when I tried to post I get a 'problem with the database' error.
  3. 1st place, what can I say? Time to make some transfers.. it has been a few weeks.
  4. Jordan no UT? #1 Total Annihilation #2 C&C Generals #3 Unreal Tournament
  5. 8/10 nice merging of images but it looks a bit rough and isn't personalised. Nice and artistic though. Here's my entry (too big to use on this forum so I'm just posting it)
  6. Everyone seems so young on here. 9 GCSEs (A* to B) 1 AS Level (A) 3 A-Levels (A, B, B) 1 BSc Hons Degree (2:1 in Computer Science) 1 Full time job (PHP Developer)
  7. Mine too. I love the old films like Man With A Golden Gun and Live And Let Die, but GoldenEye is #1.
  8. He was rumoured to be the choice 6 months ago so it's no surprise, but at least they've finally made it official. Not seen any of his films, but he doesn't look the part to me. Hopefully his acting will be good. They could have done far worse though. I think 007 is just about over.. I can't see them rediscoving the magic of the series.
  9. The thing is, whatever formation we play, Sven can't get the team to play as a team. They never play to their potential and always look totally unprepared.
  10. Other games had done that before. 'Fever Pitch' on the Mega Drive was the first I can remember. Also that was only on the N64 version wasn't it? Fifa was considered a nice alternative to Sensible Soccer when it was released in '94, but after Fifa '95 and '96 rolled by you started to see it wasn't going anywhere. Sensible Soccer was still far better and no amount of flashy graphics would please a football fan when the gameplay was so lacking. It has been a couple of years since I played a Fifa game. The last one was on the Cube and even as a big Pro Evo fan I tried to justify my purchase, but after a few days I saw that I had been stupid to trust that EA had somehow turned Fifa into a Football fans' game. With Pro Evo 5 on the horizon (pre-ordered long ago) I won't be buying Fifa, but I wouldn't mind giving it a go as I'm not close-minded. But considering the amount of money I've put into the series in the past I'd feel somewhat stupid to buy it again considering how poor Fifa has been in recent years.
  11. I thought this would do the trick as I hadn't used it before, but unfortunately not. This is what I've been using for a while now and it causes the border. Here's an example, against a transparent background to make it easier to see: As you can see the image has been anti-aliased. In nearest-neighbour mode this doesn't happen but the re-size quality is rubbish as there is no bluring. This is such an annoying problem. At the moment I'm having to crop the border off each time.
  12. This is the second time I've seen this game. The last time I got it on my 2nd roll, this time they've made it less obvious but of course once you know the answer it's easy. Personally I don't see how someone couldn't figure it out within 3 turns, but everyone is different.
  13. 7.5/10 Two improvements: Give it a 1px border like your av has, and secondly increase the opacity of Mario and Bowser, they look overly pale. You've done the right thing by using that effect on the background, but as the figures are in-front of the text, the perspective looks odd. Change that and you're looking at 8.5/10. I need a new sig. It's been a fixture around here for what must be 2 years.
  14. I'm so glad Chelsea stuffed Liverpool after all the rubbish they have been saying. Scared? Yeah right. Chelsea: 8 matches played, 1st in the league, maximum of 24 points. Liverpool: 6 matches played, 13th, the only upside for them is that Everton are bottom. Chelsea can play much better better than they did today. We were quite average. Terry was MotM me for, exceptional performance that held the team together.
  15. It's worthing looking into Be, they are offering cheap 24MB connections by the looks of it, although I know nothing else about them. I recommend Plus.net. £21.99 unlimited 2MB. For the last 6 months it has been the best deal going for a top 10 quality provider. You will find adslguide.org.uk very useful in choosing a provider. P.S. you should listen to your mother, AOL sucks!
  16. For that price it's a very good deal, but you are getting a very basic laptop. For double your money you could get an Acer with more RAM, better graphics card, more HD space, widescreen, higher resolution, and a DVD-RW. It depends if you need those features though, although I would say 512MB RAM is a minimum today (but you could always upgrade that separately). It's official: Acer own all others.
  17. Least it isn't just me who can't figure it out. The feathering is definitely set to zero, but that is on the marquee tool anyway so probably doesn't relate to the re-size option. It's quite an annoying problem at the moment as it means I have to do all my image re-sizing in Fireworks.
  18. Completely agree knightendo. Signed. I tried to join the RSPCA a few months ago but they wanted me to print off a form and post it to them. Couldn't believe it, all I wanted to do was sign up to a direct debit. I'll have to try again now that I'm home and have a printer. With any luck they've updated their website to make it easier to support the cause.
  19. Did your wife know that picture would end up on the net? Can't say I'd appreciate such a picture shown to lots of relative strangers! Either way it's a classic. Happy Birthday Mr_O
  20. In that case you should learn C++ with the aim of making some basic games yourself. Then you can apply to development jobs directly. With a good Business/Computing degree it will show you not only have an interest but a brain behind it. If you're not doing C++ on your course then you'll have to do it in your own time. My computer science course had the option of it in the third year but focused mainly on Java. Once you know the principles of programming you can generally pick other languages up without too much trouble.
  21. In Beta testing you will have to play a game solidly for weeks, trying to find every single bug. I can't think of anything worse as the chance of getting a decent game are pretty low. Even then it would be very boring to try and break the game in anyway you could. Also it wouldn't lead to programming knowledge as you just play the games; if you want that you should take a programming degree and focus on C++. Making games is big business now, getting into the industry via something like Beta testing may have been the case 20 years ago, but now they will want fully qualified graduates. Personally speaking I think Beta testing would be very boring, no matter how much you like games. Of course there are worse jobs but if you actually want to make games it isn't the way to go.
  22. It's good to see someone else making a site, everyone should have one. A few tips: 1. Buy a domain. 2. Pay for some ad-free hosting. 3. Make sure your site works in Firefox. At the moment half the menu items are messed up. 4. The top left image isn't optimised properly, the gradient looks bad, this can be solved by saving it as a high quality Jpeg. The first three in particular are essential steps to take and will make your site look much more professional.
  23. Basically what I am doing is taking a 1024x768 snapshot of my screen, and then shrinking the image down (keeping aspect ratio) to around 200 pixels wide. The problem is that when I do this Photoshop feathers the edge of the image so that I get a faint border around the edge. In Macromedia Fireworks this doesn't happen. How do you turn off feathering when doing a bicubic resize?
  24. I'd prefer if we didn't bundle all sig requests into one thread, as that's one of the main reasons the Creative board exists. The more separate sig threads the better. But people are welcome to use this thread if they wish. Why I like separate threads is because not only will you get at least one sig you will also get feedback, and discussion about someone's work is always nice.
  25. Thanks for the tip, I'll try that if i play it again. In 5 years or so it'll be a laugh to have another nostalgia trip. Yeah it was a nice game. I expect a 1v1 next time though!
