Well I was kinda hoping for a bond game developed by free radical... But still glad to see the bond franchise getting away from EA.

Don't you guys know? Every electrical apparatus runs by smoke. If it comes out, it won't run

Well that's not true especially these days when the normal psu is a 500w one. And a powerful pc can consume 480+ kWh/year. Still that shouldn't show as a tremendous spike in the power bill. But if you constantly shut it off/on it will consume more energy than leaving on. But if you turn it off for the night it's consuming less energy than keeping it on. If your pc would overheat it would do it under stress in few seconds. But it can overheat if the cooling system fails while it's on. But modern cpu's are designed to shut themselves if the temperature rises above safe values.

Well didn't see the point in starting a new thread for this random thought that I came up with. Everyone knows that the future of pc gaming is in dx10 + vista. Microsoft has no plans on supporting dx10 and it's improved graphics capability on xp. There will be upgrade on dx9 but it's not the same as 10. So every pc gamer that wants to be at the cutting edge of hardware will have to buy vista. Now that's probably the only valid reason for me to buy a copy, but at the same time the reason not to buy it. Microsoft basically tells ati and nvidia what features should they have on their next graphics chip. For me it seems like Microsoft is forcing me (a gamer) to buy vista, but I don't like to be forced to do anything. Vista has many upgrades to XP but when you think about it how much do you need them? I don't even use all the features that xp has. And for some actual businesses there seems to be little or no point in upgrading to vista. Word processing, spreadsheet etc. can be done with a lesser computer running nt/xp (this doesn't mean that all businesses shouldn't upgrade though) . So I think that's why microsoft is trying to target gamers as an audience. I think there's no valid reason for xp not to support dx10 (other than lazy programmers...)

Well his popped to my mind: When you star your comp go to start-->run-->msconfig (or faster way: hit windows key+r and type msconfig) Then on the tabs 'services' and 'startup' there's a list of things that are ran when you boot up. Try searching for the file that you know is the virus, disable it,reboot and try cleaning it now.
-
To delete the file you could try the xp recovery console which comes up when you boot from winxp cd and press r to enter the console. But it might result in that your pc won't start at all. So try F-prot ran on the command prompt or if you're using fat32 you can run it from a win9x boot disk. EDIT: easiest option: format/reinstall xp

Finally someone I recognise from the old days I mean I do recognise all the admins and so on but half(or more) of the mods are pretty new to me. My generel lack of presence before was because of I was on a 56k modem and this site wasn't being very nice on it... And while I strolled through the user image gallery I noted that ford prefect apparently "fucked off and left" I still remember the days when I was wondering what kind of ford car is a prefect. That was around the time he had the canadian flag as his avatar I think. Then I read the book.

And to help on the linux matter check this website. Click on take the test, and after answering few simple questions it tells you which Linux distribution is the best for you.

Isn't the contact information stored on some server on msn network? Just log into trillian with the same account as you do on msn messenger to get them. I haven't used trillian but my s60 messenger software works this way.

Indeed jakeee you're right. The wii will probably have it's own API that could have some features that are similar to dx10. I mean what restrains them to implement the same features that directx uses?
-
They bought it just before the release of gamecube. I have one of the early ones and it has the "graphics by ati" sticker. Actually I think that because they bought artx they're still competing in the graphics card market. At one time I was fearing of an nVidia monopoly when the 3dfx died. Ati's best offerings for cards were ati rage pro/fury's or something.
-
No I don't think it is. Maybe they just ran out of them? Random fact: The gamecube was the first place that ati used their new logo
-
The gamecube, if I recall correctly, used opengl(or similar, I remember developers saying that it was easy to develop for the cube because of it's similarity to opengl). ATI and nVidia both are involved in the development of directx. But the main development is handled by microsoft. ATI and nVidia only participate to get their new cards to handle the new features.
-
Since when did the development of directx jump to ati from m$? I'm confused. I'd say something useful but gamespot is capping my dl at 12KB/s.

Sounds more like a bug in the games. Try searching the steampowerd forum for help on "the memory could not be read" error. I'm pretty sure there was an answer there to the problem. Or it was on the support pages.

Well I have a couple in my digital cam. That was actually to test how my cam would cope with getting a shot against a bright light source. And it was probably -30'C outside when that was taken. I did a manipulated version of it. But I don't want to break the rules. IMO the manipulation wasn't heavy but won't risk it. It looks like it's afternoon but actually was taken at 10-11 am.

This made my day can't stop laughing... But seriously why go the whole way of stealing a brand when you could have established a new one...
-
Well audacity isn't probably too good for that. Try these: http://www.anvilstudio.com/ and http://www.frieve.com/english/musicstd/download.html note that the latter has the music studio producers which is free. The independence one is shareware.
-
Well Audacity is one. But I'm not sure what kind of editing you need. I use wavelab lite that came with my sound card to every serious editing I need.

HD CRT? Well I'd just stick with buying a larger CRT PC monitor. But if it's the large screen that you want go for it
-
But still better than some that have been recommended... But it's a matter of opinion so I don't try to argue. Annyhow if you're into tv series get Macgyver, The pretender (damned 4th season isn't released yet...) and maybe JAG. Which reminds me of one movie that for some reason hasn't been recommended; Top Gun

Try to find the pdf called BlenderTutorialGuide1.pdf it teaches how to make stuff. But when you get into doing them watching the interface tutorials vid helped me to get where I wanted. Edit: Nice golf ball there Cube, how and with what did you make that grass?

Well I don't know what it would be like. Probably involving friends+games+alcohol+pizza+club. The only problem is that I cannot drink alcohol anymore... It just wants to get out of me if I taste even a tiny bit of it. Saturday I had hard time keeping smirnoff ice down. Note that I wasn't hungover as the smirnoff was my first drink
