  1. According to the Daily Mail it's Pete Doherty's fault by the way http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=422504&in_page_id=1770&in_page_id=1770&expand=true
  2. Tom has 7 friends.... 6 friends.... 5 friends.... 4 friends....
  3. It's entirely possible for a game to let you customise the controls and still have shite controls. Sony have taken down the fake blog and youtube videos People have mirrored them to extend their humiliation though.
  4. The shotgun is one of the better weapons, but I agree a lot of them feel piss weak. And maybe it's just because I've played counterstrike but I expect several bullets directly in the forehead from a machine gun to kill someone rather than annoy them. Saying the controls are crap doesn't mean you're rubbish at the game either - played for three hours and it's a piece of piss. Thought I'd got it on some kind of training mode for small children and the infirm where it makes you practically invincible thanks to your wolverine style regeneration powers, the fact the computer aims for you and kills people when you miss them anyway because, hey, at least you tried, and has AI more than happy to stand there and let you shoot them in the head (and shout "Oh my god! he's vanished! Where's he gone! He's disapeared! It's witchcraft!" when you walk behind a pillar.)
  5. My, there's a lot of people from Salford, Hammersmith, Merseyside and Islington on these boards.
  6. Grr, went to play Wii Play with my girlfriend last night and it had a seizure again, sounded like a jump jet taking off then gave me an error. Reset, took the disc out and put it in again and then it worked. But I'm definitely shipping it back to Nintendo once the shortage has calmed down. Will I have to box up everything (remote, cables, Wii sports etc) or just send the console? And how can I back up all my saves and Miis?
  7. I had a portable Sony Trinitron and the Cube looked lovely on it with an RGB cable.
  8. Depends on the game and it depends what "good graphics" mean. FarCry depended heavily on graphics because one of its main plus points is the lush world with sense of scale. So FarCry with shit graphics is shit (I don't mean 'not amazing' graphics, i mean shit. My crappy old PC looked 20 times better without the Wii port's slowdown). Monkey Ball has great graphics because they're well stylised and suit the game, but they aren't superb from a technical standpoint. Warioware's graphics are good, again because they're well stylised. It wouldn't benefit from, say, HDR. Indeed if Wario's minigames looked like Gears of War complete with particle shading, hi-def output and realistic skintones it would make the game worse in my opinion. Someone sneered at Wii Sports for having graphics that could have been done 4 years ago. To me that's a bit like slating Schindlers List for being in black and white, when they could have done that in the 50s.
  9. I will cos I didn't buy it :P
  10. I agree with what the developers say about what the Wii can't do (pixel shading etc) - but it can certainly do a better job of handling a 3 year old game than Ubisoft have served up.
  11. Got a third party RGB cable for my Cube for a fiver and the difference was amazing so one of these is a priority purchase for me.
  12. Rayman looks good. As for the FPS games, I'd rather they'd waited till they could make a half decent one or not bothered at all. Yeah, I remember when we thought Red Steel would look like that The fact there's no gun or crosshair in shot should give you a hint that it's not an actual screengrab from the game. Although even then they're keen to keep as far away from everything as possible in case you see what the textures look like close up. I dont remember the Xbox being incapable of making a bottle look round rather than hexagonal or using N64 textures, letterboxed screen and straight lines so jaggy that anything more than 6 foot away looks like lego. The GameCube kicked out far better graphics in its time than red steel. Even simple games like Monkey Ball and Wii sports make it look woeful.
  13. Yeah, called them on the day of delivery and again this morning. They took the order numbers of the other two so I hope they've told them what's going on. Dunno how a delivery driver can deliver a stack of boxes without even looking at the addresses on the front of them.
  14. Still got 3 of them. Argos said they'll send someone to pick up the extra 2 on Tuesday but they were supposed to do that on monday too and did they bollocks. Feel like I've stolen Christmas from the 2 people they were actually addressed to.
  15. The character design looks more like the old school comics that were around years before they got turned into a cartoon and lost their ninja moniker in the UK.
  16. Probably played Monkey Ball single player most and Wii Sports multiplayer most.
  17. Fixed before the Wii even came out in the UK if I remember correctly.
  18. Love the box art
  19. More on the most embarrassing viral marketing campaign ever http://www.ukresistance.co.uk/2006/12/sonys-latest-internet-lie-blog-goes.html
  20. I'm used to the controls now and it's not totally awful. One thing I will say is that it's very forgiving, especially in the way if you don't get hit for a few seconds you immediately return to full health (what makes it even easier is that the AI is thick as mince and wont rush you, so you can just nip round a corner and refill) and you can shoot someone about 6 inches above his head and he'll drop down dead.
  21. Didn't notice how many points I got for my Wii, I've only got about 1,750 now tho - spent most of them on stuff like a fluffy nintendog, a pac pix stylus and an inflatable pokeball.
  22. None of them were addressed to moon town Seriously though, I nipped outside and told the bloke and he said to ring argos (tho i just noticed I had too much stuff, not that they weren't addressed to me), I called them straight away, I stayed in on monday rather than going shopping so I could give them back and they're still sitting here. Anyone would think I was asking them to do me a favour! It's hard work being honest. What a bunch of pillocks (tho I guess it's the delivery company rather than Argos, they clearly had other people's names and addresses on!)
  23. I've still got 3 of the buggers, Argos said they'd pick up the ones delivered to me by accident on monday but no-one turned up for them.
  24. I think there should be a counter suit from Smith and Wesson.
  25. Only ever use AiAi for single player, tho I like Gongons ability to destroy the pinball bumpers. Tried baby once as well, but he was too lightweight and got pinged off the course all the time.
