  1. by the same kind of logic i can say that::: + = + OH NO!!! EDDY MURPHY IS TAKING OVER NINTENDO! this apple stuff is very nice for conspiracy theories, but i cant see it happening. nintendo isnt about entertainment machines, its about games consoles. hence why they havent yet included a dvd player. and i will still say, the the mp3 player for the gba or DS did come as a shock to me.
  2. that is disgusting. i dont know whether that person is driven by sony fanboyism, or simply ignorant. i would have argued with them right in the middle of the store. also, seeing as im not going to open a new thread to ask this, but what time exactly are the conferences being held at the end of the week?
  3. that ign roundtable was interesting... thanks Yenrug! i will say that im not fussed about the comments made. people will always get aggressive when it comes to 'team competition', and thats all this boils down to. Juan barracks for Sony, and will be blind to any other team being half decent, even if its completely obvious. as for the hardcore/casual gamer thing.... well i think its a matter of research. as mentioned earlier, if you are posting within this forum, you would possibly be considered 'hardcore'. i consider anyone who will take the time to look up on the internet, buy a magazine... or whatever as hardcore... its research! anyone in this forum will know more about the next gen systems than most people. and no, im not implying that your glasses are bigger than your cocks.... console wars for me = good thing. keeps the market affordable and drivers the game developers to improve upon themselves. i dont have any arguements with people regarding consoles anymore, simply because i believe in 'each to their own' and 'everything has its own merits'. oh, and i like Mark Ryan Sallee's comments in the roundtable. i also picked up that the playstation editors believed that 'all would be well'. quite amusing really.
  4. thanks for that article smalltac. very nice. a good read. umm. i think that the thinned down version of the ps2 was more stylish than the gamecube. i have to admit when i first read Hellfires post on 'the gamecube being one of the more stylish consoles', i didnt think much of it. but then i began to think of the other consoles... and their general looks. in terms of design and overall 'sexiness', i would have to go: Wii >> ps2(lite) > dreamcast > gamecube the wii DOES look incredible. so incredible that i took the liberty to put it in bold font...
  5. i voted no, i mean, im sure it would be great for everyone else, and good overall for ninty to do, but it wouldnt be of huge benefit to me. simply because: a) raise cost of bundle b) looks bloody uncomfortable. besides, i have gamecube controllers.
  6. i dont. smalltac ~ cynical aussie person who reports what they see bigtac ~ mystery man who likes taking guesses and stirring up this forum.
  7. uh yeah. i work, and do 4th year uni. im only 21 though... i will tell you what makes one feel old, listening to younger kids use 'hip' words and terms, and then having to ask them what they mean. im not even sure if the word 'awesome' is still ok to use!!! and i use it all the time! for all i know, people could be calling me a dinosaur! anyway.. guess we all have to wait another few days until the M3G4T0N did you know that if you put megaton into google images, the 7th thing that comes up is a blog entry on ign.com regarding the wii? and yes, i will continue to make megaton jokes, until all of the forum users lighten up, and will not cry when nothing comes out of september15. whichever way you look at it... you will get a wii eventually! so settle down!
  8. M3G4T0N!!!!!! nah. im not overly disappointed. i only heard about the joystiq thing 4 hours before it was revealed. it is really nice to hear that production is VERY well underway though. i severly doubt that it will be out by the end of the month, but at least there will be heaps of consoles available on launch, and more importantly, available for christmas:santa: .
  9. this is my convo with my friend who is a mod crazy SOB. (i would be matthew) so yeah. thats the general gist of the conversation. we then talked about food for a while.
  10. with wiiconnect24, im sure that nintendo can easily monitor this kind of thing. heh, everytime a new crack comes out, they can send their little programs through the airwaves and physically remove them from your wii.
  11. 12:01:00 a.m. Friday September 8, 2006 in EST converts to 03:01:00 p.m. Friday September 8, 2006 in Australia/Melbourne For those who are AEST.
  12. this is a very good point. besides, itll keep the cost down by not including the dvd playback. this doesnt phase me, as i have a very nice pioneer dvd player that is good for PAL/NTSC/DIVX.... the works.
  13. some shops are already taking preorders. i know that toysrus in australia are doing so. as for my preorder, im going to wait until a couple more businesses give launch details and the like so i can get the best deal possible.
  14. Had an interesting thought about the wii last night, and i was wondering whether this would be possible. There has been talk about 'gamecube re-releases' (for those who missed out), and at E3 Perrin Kaplan told IGN that there was still another surprise for the hardcore gamers (aka. us) Anyway, to my point, and the title of this thread. Would it possible for nintendo to release patches for already existing gamecube games? I mean, in this post by Dante in regards to the Rayman game, the makers said that it would be possible to download additional minigames for Raving Rabbids. It makes me wonder whether Nintendo could release a patch, for say, Metroid Prime so that the Wiimote could be used in it just like in MP3. Or maybe a patch for melee to make it possible to play it online, or maybe a patch for starfox adventures to make it last longer (sorry, had to throw in that joke!) This kind of thing would look after the hardcore gamers very nicely, it is really rewarding those who looked after the gamecube! and with the wiiconnect24 i think it would be quite possible. nintendo would have to be careful that they dont start releasing unfinished products, as we know a lot of pc games you always have to download a couple of patches at the start to remove bugs and stuff... i guess the purpose of this thread is to: a) talk about whether it is actually possible for nintendo to actually do this b) if it were possible, what could it be used for?
  15. haha! good call!!! but yeah... people make mistakes. pretty funny though

  17. i agree wholeheartedly! i believe that it is simply to teach people how the wiimote will respond to different actions. whether it be swinging hard, getting the right timing, precision... that kinda thing. heh, and a cricket game would be good as well, would train you to use the wiimote in a quite a variety of movements!
  18. i think i would wet myself if a kid icarus game was revealed. this is one title that i am looking forword to greatly (assuming it IS actully coming). heh. probably a good thing it was badly kept. imagine what would have happened if it was a giant bombshell. nintendo fans all over the globes would be going insane!
  19. that is making the rash assumption that there is no water (or obstacles) in the way whatsoever. with horseback fighting, im sure that a horde of hobgoblins will slow you down somewhat. there is also the assumption that ign are not dicks. this one is the biggy.
  20. the english language (or my brain... on of the two) is a funny thing. i was simply agreeing with Zell, and what i meant was that i didnt get the cube straight away because i didnt think that the original games that were released with it were worth buying. luigis mansion and 'yet another starwars game' does not impress me, whereas SSBM does. i agree with you on the viewtiful joe point. but do remember that this game is on the ps2 as well. you will probably be able to pick it up cheaper than the gc version. (it just happens to be that way in the world.... *sigh*)
  21. agreed. the best possible thing that nintendo could do (in my opinion) is make the friend code list like a 'msn messenger' type thing. where you could log onto 'wii-online', see which of your friends is there (via friend codes), and organise games with them that way. i havent had anything to do with friend codes, as i dont have a ds. so me saying 'they cant be too bad' would just send everyone up into a rage of sorts. but nintendo believe (as do i) that the parental control factor is a necessary. if some little girl was to log onto 'mario kart online' because she finds the game fun, we dont need a bunch of dicks trash talking and making a nuisense of themselves. play any online game and you will know they exist. if it was carried out in a 'friend list' kind of way, there will still be that element of freedom. one could EASILY jump onto, for example, the n-europe forum and post their wii-code onto the board and have a quite a large number of people to play against. anyway, as mentioned earlier, this is just my opinion. this is the kind of system that would work best for me... (and this is the point where everyone tells me im wrong...)
  22. yes it was! well, it had me laughing!
  23. yum... cookie. i like cookies. um. yeah. lets throw around fun words like BOMBSHELL and MEGATON. but seriously, leipzig did get hyped, but there was a lot of stupid info given out. eg 1. 'wii prove our promise' NOTHING WAS PROVEN!!! eg 2. im fairly sure that ONM said that ninty were gonna release launch details at leipzig.... TRASH!
  24. that is the coolest thing EVER. i bet that the fzero falcon densetsu is a really good anime!
  25. haha! and i will debate it! EB will match any deal, but they wont beat it. and, of course, buying from EB comes with a cost... that being that you have to deal with the arrogant EB salespeople. with the myer deal, it will be a bunch of coupons. nb. the coupons also said 'electrical equipment'. and in the past the coupons have been of the kind: "in may, buy this game for $20 less", even though you never wanna play spongebob squarepants' awesome adventure... as it stands, ill get mine from toysrus, and will prolly convince my brother to get his from myer... get all kinds of deals!
