Someone over at the IGN Wii boards mentioned this and got banned from the forums.

The PS3 Failure Equation = Microsoft Acquisition of Square Enix [NO FINAL FANTASY] + Microsoft Acquisition of Capcom [NO BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL] + Microsoft Acquisition of Konami [NO METAL GEAR SOLID] <-- Thus granting 100% exclusivity and no incentive for people to buy a PS3.

Could Microsoft really afford to buy these 3 calibur companies?

They got banned because it was stupidity.

Microsoft could afford them, But the 3 companies wont be sold out.

There are HUGE rumors that MS will buy Capcom, also Kojima is thinking of porting MGS4 to 360 and MS tried to buy Spuare once and now Square said that they dont want Sony to be the winner of this generation so....

If we do see a MGS4 port. There are two things you need to know.

I am not saying there WONT be. But the likeliness is 20% still.

Secondly. If we do see a port, it will be ATLEAST a year from the day its released on PS3

Understand. Hideo Kojima took a year to port mgs2 onto xbox, and that turned out shit, this is because, like most games should, they are designed for a single console, and thus using all of its strengths.

So the bottom line is. If there is a port, we would see it a hell of a lot later, and it will be, not might, will be a weaker version then the PS3 version.

How many did the PS3 sell, in JUST America, not counting Japan, then we'll be able to see some sort of comparison.

Well the PS3 sold about 88 thousand in Japan and then went out of stock so it must have sold about 160 thousand in America.

But remember the Wii hasn't even been out for a day yet.

But you ahve to take into account that there were only so many Ps3s

Well, actually, that's irrelevant for the moment. You know why? Because PS3 took more than one day to break 200 thousand sells. Wii has broken 300 thousand in 12 hours. Now you tell me what does the quantity of consoles have to do with that? This shows that demand is bigger for the Wii, because if PS3 had as much or more demand than Wii, then it would have broken the 200 thousand barrier in much less than 12 hours. Which it didn't, according to NextGenWars.

Those three companies would never sell out to Microsoft. The main reason is that Microsoft are American. They would be more chance of them joining Nintendo than Microosoft.

Edit: It's not a race till the consoles are flowing in regulary. Then again look at the Gamecube, it was the fastest selling console and look where that ended up. It starts with all the Nintendo fans buying it, then it slowly vanishes. Let's hope this is different this time.

You do realise what you said made absolutely no sense?

How can the PS3 reach 200,000 sells in 12 hours when there wasn't that quantity available to buy in the first place. You can't judge demand because the figures aren't comparable. If I was a Sony fanboy i'd be bashing on about how the PS3 sold out everywhere, yet you can still buy a Wii.

OMG Wii is pwning the PS3, PS3 FLOPS!!!

Er, Nintendo GameCube completely pwnd the launches of PS2 and Xbox, it didn't stop them from over-taking in the long run.

Are we sure these counters are counting in-store sales, pre-orders AND online sales, and not just in-store sales?
