Guest Stefkov Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 I saw it, it was really quick though and I just toally forgot about it until I was reading this. I had an idea, maybe the explosion fused the symbiote and Brock together, all of him apart from his skeleton? Like the sandman can fall apart etc, maybe Brock is inside the symbiote. Because of the human life form inside it, it can morph into the venom outline we all know?
Nintendohnut Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Wait....Did you not stay till after the credits? In the Uni a red-headed skinny janitor is walking along, he comes out of a lab room, shuts off the lights and the symbiote crawls along and attatches itself to the janitors red and black shoe. Seeing as I didn't bother to stay behind I'm not entirely sure if you're serious or not. I know Connor's still has a sample and there is still some on the jacket Brock threw, but just wondering whether it actually escaped or if you're just kidding. I really hope so, the film was good but I'm disappointed that Venom had such a tiny part. He's one of the best villains! He better come back.

Lol, sorry it was just a joke (Hence the wink) In the comics a guy named Cletus Cassady (Ginger, skinny etc) gets the symbiote, and it turns him into Carnage. (Oh yeah hes a serial killer even BEFORE he gets the symbiote)
Guest Jordan Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 So whats the major difference between Carnage and Venom?
Tellyn Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 So whats the major difference between Carnage and Venom? Colour... the fact that Carnage is a blood-thirsty and murderous psychopath and is probably the deadliest of all Spidey villains.
McMad Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Colour... the fact that Carnage is a blood-thirsty and murderous psychopath and is probably the deadliest of all Spidey villains. And the fact that he sucked. You could always like Eddie in a way because he had a human side to him, while Cletus was just a fucking nutter. Oh yeah is it true that in the Ultimate Comics the Carnage Symbiote was its own being and had no host? That's a bit crap.
Tellyn Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 McMad, can I ask where you buy comics from? I don't know of anywhere near me that actually sells them, but I'm being sent a pack including a comic, movie poster and something else (can't remember) from the News of the World (first and only time I bought the paper, just for that voucher ).
Retro_Link Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 I highly recommend watching the Venom Saga over on http://www.tv-links.co.uk as it shows the story of Venom and Carnage. It's recently been uploaded in the Cartoons section under Spider-Man.

I'm not sure where my brother's got some of their old Marvel Comics from, but I used to pick up Ultimate Spiderman from my News-Agents, not sure why I stopped though. There's also this shop nearby called 'A Place in Space' up in Croydon which is a comic specialist but I just bought the Halo Graphic Novel from it, I may start buying some Spiderman again though as long as the story is easy to get into. To tell you the truth I know most of my Spiderman knowledge from the 90s Cartoon, although it was only until a few years ago I found out it was cesored as hell and quite a bit of stuff had been changed so I then filled in the gaps through fan-sites and other sources.

ReZourceman Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Ive got issues #8-108 (Present) of Ultimate Spidey...= Im awesome. Anyway yeah Carnage is basically a symbiotey type clone thing, thats basically its own being. The Venom story was AWESOME in Ult Spidey. Eddies dad and Petes dad were working on a cure for cancer - in the form of this black blob thing...anyway it all obv goes wrong, and et voila Venom...so cool (AND he hasnt been back in it since like...issue 40ish) Cant wait for the next story with him in. So whats the major difference between Carnage and Venom? Carnage is totally psycho, he can form solid objects from the symbiote and throw them (E.g. razor sharp axe) has uber sharp claws, is generally more menacing. Though they are effectively very similar in physical strength (Identical in that manner if Im not mistaken) As a side note, neither Carnage nor Venom can be picked up by Petes Spidey Sense.

Interesting... I might have to look about harder, but there's a lot of stuff Leeds doesn't have or lacks. Import shops, only one Gamestation which is hidden away in the centre, anywhere that sells comics... Thanks. I just remembered, the 'My Spidey Sense is tingling' reference from Venom was awesome.
MunKy Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 The skeleton was most definantly there. I saw it a few hours ago and was pissed off that Venom got so little screen time and then got killed. They had best find a way to bring him back. I don't care if Sam Raimi hated him, Venom is the best Spidey villain. Also we see Uncle Ben die a few times in SM3, maybe he comes back as a zombie!!! (I'm not being serious, so shhh!)
Tellyn Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Was it just me or did the Stacey family survive? Neither got much screentime, Gwen disappeared after Emo Peter's dance, and they might as well have just given the role of Captain Stacey to some random guy walking about in New York! James Cromwell, aka Daddy Bauer, is such an awesome actor and his talents weren't put to any good use.

They botched Venom so badly I can't see any fan wanting him back that badly done.
MunKy Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Seriously? They botched Venom so badly I can't see any fan wanting him back that badly done. Actually you have a point. He was badly done. No explanation of where the symbiote came from, just a random meteorite. No deep story into Brock's hatred of Parker. Shit, the cartoon did it better. I love the Venom character so I will always want to him back though. Lets just hope they Don;t fuck up Lizard Man/Curt Conners. Oh yeah, Man Spider would be kool, but do you honeslty think it work in the movies? The CG has been terrible at times and I wouldn't want it to be ruined.
Shorty Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 I highly recommend watching the Venom Saga over on www.tv-links.co.uk as it shows the story of Venom and Carnage. It's recently been uploaded in the Cartoons section under Spider-Man. Hehe, I have that on VHS back home, I won it in a competition so many years ago - with CBBC I think, or maybe the Sunday Times, I forget. There was a whole bunch of Spidey goodies in a Marvel Super Heroes satchel It was a really cool telling of the story, and gives Venom the kind of character depth he deserved. However, I don't think Venom was as bad a character in the latest movie as some people are making out. He was seriously under-developed, but what we saw was almost all good. In fact, all he had to do was refer to himself in the plural and I would've been fairly happy with his part.
Chris the great Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 well, that film was a laod of balls. emo spiderman sucked sandman sucked venom sucked dialogue sucked every moment outside the fights sucked all that i could possibly forgive, the fight scenes were good after all but the montage, sipderman dancing and basicly beign the campest, most cringe worthy cinematic moment of the decade. i judged myself for actualy not walking out.
Slaggis Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 BOX OFFICE Its made over $148 million in its opening weekend. Beating dead mans chest's $135 million Over the rest off thr worl its made over $227 million in its opeing weekend making meaning the film has grossed over $350 million in its first 3 days of release! Its the biggest gross for a opening weekned ever both worldwide and in america. It also broke the record for opeing day gross, beating spidey 2 with a massive $59 million (in america)
Chris the great Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT DANCING SCENE! spider man has made us gay? oh and i did see the skeleton, i wasn't looking for it cos id not herd about it, eddie is deffo dead. deffo.
ReZourceman Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 spider man has made us gay? oh and i did see the skeleton, i wasn't looking for it cos id not herd about it, eddie is deffo dead. deffo. ....Its "Spider-Man" Sorry...cant let TWO different spellings from the same guy slip past.
arnold Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 One thing I've seen that everyone kinda liked is the cafe scene, Just rewatched it on youtube it was SOOOOOO Good and why the hell is the guy at the end of the scene Blue o0
Happenstance Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 I really dont believe that Eddie or Venom are dead. I mean hes too big of a character to kill off so quickly and I think they purposely showed Eddie actually being taken over again by the symbiote for a reason.
|Laguna| Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 I saw it on Saturday. Really really enjoyed it. Sure it was cheesy as hell in some parts, but it made me grin nonetheless, the dancing in the street bit was pure lolity. I thought it was funny how he went all emo hairstyle with the black spiderman power. I found the ending with Sandman dude a bit stupid as well, I mean there and then it seems all nice and warm and fuzzy way to end it, but thinking about it, I mean the guy is still a wanted criminal and he still hasn't got the money for his daughter's operation. I couldn't believe though in the cinema I was sitting behind a little girl of around 6 years old, that whole 12A system is ridiculous, it's basically means PG now.
