dabookerman Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Casino Royale - 6/10 Was alright. Free running was awesome. Goldeneye is better however.
Yoshiking Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Full Metal Jacket: 7/10 This disappointed me. I had heard "best war movie ever" and whatnot, and.. What the hell was this? The only thing it lacked was a definable plot, though. It seemed as if nothing was tying it together. First half, though, up to after pyle kills himself was damned, damned good. But after that it wasn't all that. It has the Stanley Kubrick "I make movies containing mostly nothing, and I make them god damned well" all over it, though. Decent, but far from the best.
Fruitgun Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 School of Rock; 10/10 It's Jack Black, teaching a school of abnormally talented kids how to play rock! What's better than that!?
Atomic Boo Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Shawshank redemption quality film! 9/10 gonna watch it riht now. bye peeps.
Fierce_LiNk Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Shawshank redemptionquality film! 9/10 gonna watch it riht now. bye peeps. Whoa, that's a new concept. Rate the film before you watch it!
Yoshiking Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Either that or it's a "I recently watched this and it was so damned good I'm gonna go watch it again". I did a similar thing with Love Actually, which I watched Tuesday and then again Friday last week.
Atomic Boo Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Either that or it's a "I recently watched this and it was so damned good I'm gonna go watch it again".I did a similar thing with Love Actually, which I watched Tuesday and then again Friday last week. correct, although i watched it 2 months back, i remember it vividly and only just thought to myself i should watch it again. It still grips me as well btw. Morgan Freeman is a legend. So is Tim Robbins for that matter. You just totally forget its a film and you get drawn in.
flameboy Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Casino Royale 9/10 Now I rate my films even harsher than I rate games, but this film was near perfect. it was great to see a bond who was yet to reach his best, he takes a battering, he isn't the perfect agent we've grown to love. Daniel Craig is James Bond (also watched 40 year old virgin this afternoon, 8/10)
Nintendork Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Pleasantville. For what it is, it was a nice original concept with some nice themes. Nothing thought provoking though.. I just liked the style. Kinda junk food for the brain. 6/10.
Garden_Pigeon Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Just watched 40 Year Old Virgin again, Steve Carrell is one funny man. 8/10. Anyone watch the American Office?
Shorty Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Casino Royale for me too. 7/10. Lost me in the middle, it just got slow. An action scene smack in the middle would've done so many things for the film that it might've even grabbed a 9.
Yoshiking Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Casino Royale: 9/10. This was, in general, a perfect Bond movie. The only thing that makes it slightly inferior to Goldeneye is that it felt like there were separate storylines going on that, though connected, didn't seem to be seing as they didn't get into that as much due to a slightly too emphasised love affair thing going on. Daniel Craig is probably the best (or at least one of the best) Bonds ever though. Awesome.
Platty Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 The DaVinci code 8/10 It was good but confused me in places (I've never read the book so didnt have the foggiest what it was all about) my head hurts.
Konfucius Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Fearless Awesome fight scenes, really awesome fight scenes but the story could use a few more words. Looked as if they put something together from Gladiator and Last Samurai. But awesome fight scenes. 7/10
Noodleman Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 The Prestige: A really good film. A little confusing at times but it all made sense at the end. Christopher Nolan is a king. 8/10
gmac Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny pretty good film, totally stupid of course with no real story or plot but still the music rocks and it is funny
Nintendork Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I thought Da Vinci was crap, I walked out after about an hour. Never knew what happened to that weird monk guy. Anyway just a heads up film buffs. Film Four tonight, 10:40 or 11:40 if you have access to Film Four +1. Night Watch. It's meant to be good (I stayed in just to catch it)
Blue_Ninja0 Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Casino Royale 8/10 I liked it, but it's not as good as Goldeneye. Craig seems to fit the role very well but it's hard to get used to it.
Fierce_LiNk Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I'm just curious, but why is everyone comparing this Bond film to Goldeneye?
triforcemario Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I'm just curious, but why is everyone comparing this Bond film to Goldeneye?I believe its because Casino Royale was directed by the same person as Goldeneye.
Fierce_LiNk Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I believe its because Casino Royale was directed by the same person as Goldeneye. Ah, i see. I thought it was being compared because that was their impression of what the best Bond film was.
Konfucius Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Casino Royale Brilliant Bond film. It featured many nice locations and good landscape shots I was hoping for. Bond is a lot more violent and darker and the bad guy isn't ridiculously strong but a rather complex character. Also there weren't any (obvious) computer effects and it didn't feel over the top. The relation between the characters was very interesting and Craig fits very well as Bond. But it still lacked the classic Bond feeling a bit, mainly because he was yet to become the Bond we know. I was also expecting a bit too much after all the good critics. 9/10 Star Trek New Voyages: to serve all my days The latest fanfilm from the New Voyages team. Extremely well executed and TOS actor Walter Koenig made it all the more watchable. The story has a very constant flow and is pretty gripping with a few interesting twists. The computer effects are very impressive for a fanfilm. Sure the acting isn't all that great but for untrained actors still good. This is how Star Trek should be. 9.5/10
Yoshiking Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 The Long Kiss Goodnight - 6/10 This would've been good if Geena Davis hadn't been such a crap actor. Totally brings the movie down. Jackson is good though.
Nintendork Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Night watch, the russian equivalent of the Washowski brothers as far as I'm concerned. Godly cinematography with really bold concepts. Very very rad. Well done Russia. 9/10.
