Hey, I like Jedi, but compared to Empire and Hope, it's certainly the weakest of the three (thus the metaphor)

 

Oh, and I watched A View to a Kill last night, which I loved when I watched it, but now... well, it's still fun, but b-jesus, it was piss poorly directed. In the opening scene alone, you can tell it was on a set, and the helicopters were crappy plastic models, not to mention the random Beach Boys music in the middle of it.

I've watched this every Hallowe'en (including this year, haha). I don't know why I do it but it's started to be a tradition now, lol (and I just find the movie great One of my fave Disney movies too)

I just can't see Daniel Craig as James Bond, I just can't! . I've watched Casino Royale twice and I still can't see it. From his image to the way he talks...I can't see him as Bond. I would say George Lazenby makes a better Bond than him and he's not exactly the best James Bond either. But still, I suppose everyone's different, haha.

Ghost Town

 

Was abit slow to start off with, typical story line, but by half way it was actually pretty good, like saw I probably won't watch it again, but it was cute and kinda cool.

Jawesome, asian cinema really is great. Chapman To amazing as always and it's brilliant to see him in a more serious fashion with Anthony Wong being the comedian. Also, To speaking Portuguese and all the Portugal and Portuguese references are cool, not to mention the superb soundtrack with some fado and Portuguese guitar. Win.

007: Question Of Sport

Standard Bond with the most boring man alive. Most of the time I couldn't even see Bond because of Daniel Craig's complete lack of charisma and his attempt at machismo in that big fire at the end just goes tits up, he even needed his stuntman on hand for the dangerous act of entering a lift.

 

It was a little more cliched than Casino Royale but my main gripe was the lack of any attractive women at all, other than Arterton covered in oil. The most prominent female screen presence was M and we all know that she's only meant to be in any Bond film for 10 minutes tops, this was complete M overkill although her freshly moisturised woman face didn't half give me the horn.

It wasn't a bad film at all, but it needs to be watched back-to-back with Casino Royale to really appreciate it. It's also a film you need to see a few times to get the most out of i reckon, because there's alot of people involved and keeping track of everyones motives/history etc is something you never really get the first time.

 

I agree and disagree about the girls. Olga is stunning, but she never really shows it off, but then again, neither did a lot of bond girls. My favourite is Natalia from Goldeneye and i see her in a similar role to what Camille is.

 

My biggest complaint about QoS is the direction. Half the time you couldn't even tell what was going on in the action scenes, its terrible. Apart from that though, i think it was okay and will be better when watched again/with Casino Royale.

 

For now i'll give it a 7.

i agree. ive grown up with bond films for years now, i think the way people view bond has been shifted from ian flemmings origional vision. he was made a bit more family friendly, the gadgets and quips, and never really seeming in to much danger. each bond has added somthing, as has there time frame. for example, pierce brosnan and the 90's/early 00's added more special effects (surfing the tsunami was a persoanl lowlite) as well as a healthy scoop of humor. in todays world, thats not really "in" any more. of, there are still lots of special effects, but alot more of the action was based on stunts then cgi. also, the humor has been cut down a bit, possibly to make bond seem like more of what his origional persona was bassed on. a killer. it says at the start of solice "daniel craig as Ian Flemming's bond", not the bond we know from movies.

i agree with you on the most part, though i think the film wasn't hard to follow because of how much was going on, rather it was because of the minimal way with which scenes were linked together. few sentences stiching together a garment made of action scenes.

Honestly the film just dragged on too long. The part I liked most were the opening shots of the dessert, so yeah... It had its moments but it's really not a film I'd watch again.

Anyway, personally, I think that if anything, it was a little too short, it deserved a bit more exploring, it was such a masterfully crafted vessell! Dragged on? Hell no, you're just part of the ADD generation (sorry about that)... If it's not immediate and explicit, you plug off and loose interest. *Sigh*, remember kids, you're there because of the movie, it's not the movie that's there because of you!

I disagree. The film definitely did lose momentum towards the end. It reached a certain point, and then it just seemed to...sorta stand still for a while, with me.

 

I've only seen it the once. I definitely think the first half is a damn sight better than the second. Although, all the actors were great. Really did enjoy the performances.

ADD generation? Heh, not really, I'm absolutely not a fan of all those films that just blast through the story and show you a thousand camera angles in 10 seconds. I can quite enjoy a "slower" film, but this one just had moments where it really stopped being interesting for me, mostly towards the ending.

Plus I missed some music in the film, but that's just me.
