I wonder who are developing it. I thought it was a Yooka-Laylee trailer first.

100% certain it’s EPD Tokyo (Mario Galaxy/Odyssey, DKJB).

I really dig (heh heh) this new aesthetic for Donkey Kong. It's cool to see classic characters get proper reimagined, and this title looks to be incredibly expressive.

The gameplay itself hasn't quite grabbed me yet. As technically impressive as the gimmick seems to be, I've outgrown the fascination with "You can destroy the entire world!" concept ages ago. There looks to be fantastic effort behind this game, so I'm sure there's more to come.

Nintendo Today! has a slightly edited version of the trailer that shows Cranky.

At least he doesn't look weird.

"Weird" was meant to be in context, you rube!

If Cranky is still super old yet DK is now a kid, then perhaps is is a new DK (as Cranky is the original DK)

I think you're putting more thought into it then Nintendo have.

That's DK, and his face is horrible. I will continue to hate it.

FInally had a chance to catch up on the Treehouse Live video for this game, and... it looks really good!

It's like if Super Mario Odyssey had not shit level design! There's hidden passages, actual platforming and even environmental puzzles to solve! It's a better Zelda game than modern 3D Zelda!

The envionmental interactivity on display is really impressive, and the level design actually feels like it was done by a human that has some sense of pacing and good design forethought.  It looks like they've learnt a lot since Mario Odyssey.

There's a lot taken straight from DKJB as well, like the clapping move and how it collects items around you, or how DK's facial expression changes when he's near a banana.  I see that lineage ;)

I absolutely hated Mario Odyssey, but I'm loving what I'm seeing here! :D

Pressing the C button should switch on the camera and have DK mirror your actions.

(Think about it)

Im still unsure if I will enjoy the game very much but I am damn sure that my two sons will! They are going to have a blast going through levels, destroying everything.

It's not that I don't think it looks good but from what I've seen I need some more objectives and such. We'll see, since you guys mention Odyssey around this, there might be more to it.

Will need to watch more Treehouse from this.

It comes out during my family vacation, though, and even on my wife's birthday, so will probably have to wait a few days to actually play the game.

Watched a treehouse thing and just didn't feel like it's very interesting. Doesn't help the presenters were just smashing stuff and giggling and it has the same vibe of being sober around drunk people.

I'm sure there's more to this game but it didn't sell it to me.

That looks fine. At least they didn't give him those gross seperated eyes...
Wait, no Nintendo logo on the hat? Ugh...

Not as horrible as the movie eyes, but that strip of skin weirds me out.

Damn, I have a pre-order down for this game... I was going to give it a chance, despite the weird DK redesign, but now Diddy as well... I'm now convinced that the design team are trying to sabotage the characters in the most minor way possible, just because they can.

Unless they are considering changing some of the characater features last-minute, similar to a Sonic the Hedgehog movie style turnaround, in order to then make people want to pre-order it again, I'm not seeing the positive aspect of the redesigns at the moment.

I might just cancel that pre-order (for this game) for now.

It's a shame because the overall game seemed decent for what it is.
