We've somehow made it a whole week into 2025 without this thread turning up – but no more!

devolver-digital-e3.gif

With CES kicking things off with a lot of gaming-adjacent news, I figured it was about time to make the annual threads for any of the typical gaming events, streams, or whatever else might fall under the 'Events' umbrella which wouldn't necessarily otherwise get a dedicated thread or slot into an existing one (like a gaming deep dive), such as Summer Game Fest, The Game Awards, or any one of the crazy number of 'Directs' we get which doesn't follow 'Nintendo'.

Wonder if Capcom will have another stream of hit-or-miss quality this year...

Huh, Steam OS being licensed for this thing is very interesting.

Did Valve just beat Xbox to the punch with their recently reported plans to license out the Xbox brand/potentially the Xbox OS to third-parties?

Looks like we are still getting the Legion Go 2 in 2025 as well with the following specs:

  • 8.8 Inch, Native Landscape 16:10 144Hz OLED VRR Display.
  • Ryzen Z2 Extreme
  • Up to 32GB of 7500MHz LPDDR5X RAM
  • Up to 2TB of Internal Storage
  • 74 Whr Battery

I'll see how mine is doing when this new one comes out but at the moment I don't necessarily feel the need to upgrade. If the weight comes down then that could maybe convince me.

Yeah that 11 inch one is nuts and probably not something I'd want to use

Reading this under the recent posts without any context gave me a good giggle

I predict that Mortal Kombat 1 will not be in it. And also, that either MvC2 or MvC Infinite & Beyond will be in (it would be wild if it was the latter).

Other than that, SF6, Tekken 8, Guilty Gear Strive, City of the Wolves... and Granblue, I guess. That leaves two spots, so there might be a genuine surprise still. Maybe Multiversus :p But more seriously, I'm guessing Rivals of Aether II

Forgot to come back and report on this – the event sucked ass.

Totally Official Event Score (TOES) – 3.0/10.

They announced a date for Marvel Fighting Collection 2 and announced the Onimusha 2 remaster, but foolishly didn't shadow-drop it...and even more foolishly, didn't even give it a date. So, yeah, yikes.

A new event by The Triple-i Initiative is on the way following the success of last year's event, though date and time is still TBC:

For reference, their showcase last year was held on April 10th after being announced on 28th March – assuming a similar window between announcement to release here, I imagine they're going to try to get out ahead of the Switch 2 event on 2nd April?

Looking forward to it either way! :D

Xbox's Not-E3 Event kicks off at 18:00 BST on Sunday 8th June with the Xbox Games Showcase, which will be followed by The Outer Worlds 2 Direct.

Quote

Make some space on your calendar – the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 will be livestreamed on Sunday, June 8, starting at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK time. Following in the footsteps of the 2023 Starfield Direct and 2024 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, this year we will again have a double feature, with the Xbox Games Showcase immediately followed by The Outer Worlds 2 Direct.

It all begins with our annual Xbox Games Showcase, bringing you a look at upcoming titles from across our first-party studios, in addition to incredible new titles from our third-party partners across the globe. This year, the show will be digital-only – our livestream will bring you everything you'll need to know about what's next for Xbox, no matter where in the world you're watching.

Quote

Immediately following Showcase, The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will bring you inside the walls of Obsidian Entertainment, revealing new gameplay, details, and developer insights, straight from the people making the sequel to the award-winning, first-person sci-fi RPG.

Full press release.

Persona 4 Remake time?

Another super solid Triple-i Initiative.

Nothing grabbing me in particular– Tears of Metal, SacriFire and Over the Hill were already wishlisted - but the Katana Zero DLC trailer was a cool note to end on, Deep Rock Galactic Rogue Core would probably be my thing if my group had tried out the base game (whoops), ReMatch footage was pretty cool, Duskfade looks VERY PS2 and so I imagine might be of interest to @Hero-of-Time and @drahkon

Looking forward to seeing what they bring together for next year's show!

OK, I'm sure I've said this before, but who's the weirdo at Square Enix who keeps getting Romancing SaGa to show up everywhere lately!?

It's obviously that leaker Yuji Horii bringing it up all the time in meetings so he doesn't have to figure out the logistics of a Chrono Trigger remake
