Dcubed Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Was a bit weirded out that we didn’t have a thread for this one, but considering that we just got our first proper trailer today? This one’s for you @S.C.G 1
Dcubed Posted June 7, 2024 Author Posted June 7, 2024 Oh and here’s two new character trailers that were also released today… Also, I know this was already changed in KOF15, but I’m very sad that Marco Rodriguez is no longer called Khushnood Butt in the English versions of these games anymore
Ike Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 April 24th. Mai trailer with new outfit (a bit more) suitable for good boys & girls? Crossplay confirmed so will probably pick it up on Steam. 2
Jonnas Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Huh, I hadn't noticed before that there was a thread for this game on N-E. I'll just say: I am 110% hyped. The 1999 Garou is one of my favourite 2D fighting games ever, and to see its legacy finally continued... what a sight to behold. Every reveal leaves me giddier and giddier with anticipation. In fact, here's my favourite reveal so far: Not only did it reveal that other classic FF characters besides Terry would return, but that those returnees would also see timeskipped redesigns. Billy Kane finally ditched his iconic bandana (just like Terry ditched his iconic hat), and he's looking pretty slick to boot. A snazzy character like him deserves to not be forever sabotaged by a localiser's whim. And besides, you just know they're going to reveal a character called Dong any minute now 2
Dcubed Posted September 26, 2024 Author Posted September 26, 2024 (edited) Looks like SNK are returning Capcom's favour, as Ken & Chun Li will be playable in COTW! At this point, just make a new Capcom Vs SNK already! Edited September 26, 2024 by Dcubed 1 1
Jonnas Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Excellent character choices. Even lovelier when you remember that the Season 1 Pass is free for this game. Can't wait to see them in the colourful COTW style.

This character never clicked with me, but I'm very glad to see him back. Hasn't been playable in 25 years. Not a huge fan of his new design, but let's see if it grows on me. 1

Jonnas Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I am currently on holiday in Madeira (Cristiano Ronaldo's hometown), and I am briefly interrupting it just to say: What the actual fuck!? 1 1

I think it can all easily be explained by who owns SNK and who owns Ronaldo's current contract. As cringe as it may be, it's going to be the biggest Fatal Fury game of all time. Hero-of-Time Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Shame it wasn't Messi. I'd pay good money to slap him around. 3

Dcubed Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 Saudi influence in action right here. Pray that they don't start taking over more gaming companies...

Jonnas Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Ok, now that I've returned and settled in, I have... better articulated musings and questions. Why would they do this? Can't they just make a stage or some promotional costumes and call it a day? Why is this the first Portuguese character we ever see from a major fighting game franchise? (Soul Calibur's Setsuka is half-Portuguese, but she barely counts. Pocket Bravery has a proper Portuguese guy, but it's not a major franchise) WHY IS HE VOICED BY SOME SPANISH-SOUNDING BLOKE?! YOU IGNORANT AMERICAN MOTHERF- Is Cristiano Ronaldo fighting to inherit Geese's legacy? His fighting style is actually really cool-looking. I do legitimately enjoy mix-up/rekka characters, it's also a perfect fit for a football-based character. Are they going to keep this style in a different character going forward? Before this announcement, it was practically a certainty that the remaining characters were Hokutomaru, Jae Hoon, and Freeman. Because of this, we now know that one of them is neither on the starting roster, nor on the Season 1 DLC. Why would they do this to us? Why does he have a goalie move? Why is it a focus attack, of all things? That penalty kick ultimate is so bizarre. It's like... you're not hitting the goal, Cris. You're literally practicing how to aim that ball at the one spot it's guaranteed to not enter the goal. Did you think this through, Cris? Why does SIIIUUUUMMMM being used as a detonator actually looks really good? And why did they release the trailer while I was in Madeira? Are you stalking me, SNK?! 4

That kick canonically took place in 2014. We can infer that all of that Fatal Fury practise culminated in the 2014 kick. The deep lore checks out. 2
The Bard Posted Monday at 04:11 PM Posted Monday at 04:11 PM Garou is one of my favourite games of all time, but all the shenanigans with silly guest character is kind of harshing my vibe with this game. I played both betas, and while I like the systems, the button arrangement makes it so awkward to pull off feints correctly. Also the KSI and Speed trailer was just Saudi oil money trying to make this game a bigger deal than it's ever going to be to the mainstream market. The hell is going on with fighting games recently?

The Bard Posted Monday at 04:48 PM Posted Monday at 04:48 PM Don't be a doomer bro, we got good games. A lot's riding on Virtua Fighter 6 now though...
Jonnas Posted Monday at 10:47 PM Posted Monday at 10:47 PM The two (2) guest characters being added to this game really put a hamper on my excitement. It's like, I'm fine with silly marketing stunts, they do help in making a game's launch feel grander. But adding full-blown characters to the game? Into the sequel of what was such a perfect small-but-cohesive game with integrity? Something is lost, that's for sure. That said, both Ronaldo and Ganacci look well thought-out, at least. If they were original characters, people would love them for sure, especially Ganacci (his Super is actually excellent). I can only hope that, in the future, they do add some lookalikes with similar movesets to be a more permanent part of the roster. Maybe Duck King. So my most major disappointment is that Freeman and Jae Hoon are nowhere to be seen. Freeman is like whatever, never really liked him that much, and they can still do something cool for a later return. But Jae Hoon? Come on, he's been gone for so long, I want to see him evolve too! Replace Joe with him, come on SNK
bob Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I had to Google who Ganacci was. That is a very bizarre choice for a guest character for a fighting game... Ronaldo was bizarre, but he is a global superstar with a huge following, so I can see the thought process of crowbarring him into a fighting game. A Swedish-Bosnian DJ? A not particularly famous one? It's like someone's weird fever dream.
