More upcoming Microsoft-owned games slated for PlayStation are already being developed. While it's true Microsoft is a prolific publisher on PlayStation already, it has typically revolved around specific franchises like Minecraft. From what I've heard, Microsoft is pushing for no "red line" for what games could come to PlayStation, and it all revolves around Satya Nadella and CFO Amy Hood's plans to increase every department's margins. Sounds like we’re coming close to the end of the line for Xbox. What a shame, such a waste of potential. If they want to make the biggest splash possible as a 3rd party publisher though, they should probably wait until the release of Switch 2; come swinging right out of the gate with the likes of the complete Halo, Gears and Forza series during the launch window and immediately establish themselves as the biggest 3rd party on Nintendo’s next console. No doubt they’d get the sweetheart royalty deal to end all sweetheart royalty deals if they do this.
Dcubed Posted May 28 Posted May 28 https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2024/05/28/play-call-of-duty-black-ops-6-day-one-game-pass/ So much for a COD price bump to Game Pass. Well, this is it. If anything is gonna give Game Pass a bump in subscribers on the current hardware, it's now or never.

Dcubed Posted June 9 Posted June 9 (edited) Solid show. No major surprises (Well, apart from doing Gears of War 0 instead of Gears 6 I suppose), but everything they showed looks really promising (yes, even Perfect Dark). RIP Xbox Bin though But World Premiere Guy is alive again, so it all evens out Edited June 9 by Dcubed
Hero-of-Time Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Nothing much of interest for me. Kinda highlighted just how little I care about a lot of Western made games.
Julius Posted June 10 Posted June 10 I know everyone knows about it by now, but I'm going to drop the new console SKUs reveal for the Series X|S releasing this Holiday 2024 season in here because it'd feel weird to not have it mentioned somewhere in this thread. Per the Xbox Wire press release, the 2TB Series X will come in at $599.99/€649.99; the all-digital 1TB Series X will come in at $449.99/€499.99; and the all-digital 1TB Series S will come in at $349.99/€349.99. I think the most interesting part of this press release is that Xbox haven't put a price for us in the UK, which I'm guessing is probably down to the upcoming election having the potential to hit us pretty hard in the value of the GBP. Yay us. Anyways, caught up on the showcase by skipping through the Easy Allies reactions to the thing, pretty easily the best show over the last few days of the big hitters just from the updates and games announced alone, but is that saying much when Nintendo are still out partying and aren't turning up until later, and PlayStation phoned it in a couple of weeks back? For me, the highlights were Doom: The Dark Ages (haven't played the other modern Doom games but I also just think this was an excellent trailer), Winter Burrow, Mixtape, Life is Strange: Double Exposure (another series I haven't got into but is a big get, and returning character after a time gap hype?), Indy, and Mecha Break (which I have zero interest in playing but hey, the mech customisation looks neat!). Still, none of these are reason enough - once again - for me to give much thought to picking up an Xbox anytime soon, especially seeing as a lot of them - if not all, with how Xbox are handling things these days - are destined to come to other consoles.

drahkon Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Quote Soon, Xbox Game Pass for Console will be shuttered for new users only. Users currently on Xbox Game Pass for Console will be allowed to maintain their subscription, as well as day one games, and the hundreds of titles in the back catalogue. New users on Xbox Game Pass in the near future will be greeted by a new Xbox Game Pass "Standard." This is more like EA Access, which includes Xbox's back catalogue, and doesn't include day one games. This will be priced at $14.99 per month, and will also include Xbox Live Gold for multiplayer (now known as Game Pass Core, confusingly). It doesn't include Xbox Cloud gaming. Game Pass Standard is supposedly launching in September. From September 12, 2024, Microsoft will only allow users to stack Xbox Game Pass for Console users for up to 13 months, using pre-paid cards and the like, which will continue to function. If you have more than 13 months stacked already, you won't be impacted. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will not be changed, but it will get a price increase. It will still include PC Game Pass, day one games, and hundreds of back catalogue titles, as well as cloud gaming. But, it is getting a price increase. The new price will be $19.99 per month. PC Game Pass is also getting a price increase, from $9.99 per month to $11.99. PC Game Pass will also continue to get day one games. Xbox Game Pass Core (Xbox Live Gold multiplayer) gets an annual price increase to $74.99 from $59.99, but it will remain $9.99 per month. The price increases are global. For users with recurring billing, the new prices will take effect on September 12, 2024, giving you time to cancel if you don't fancy it. Info on Xbox Support Inevitable, predictable, sad. Not for me, as I don't care about Game Pass, but still 2
Hero-of-Time Posted July 10 Posted July 10 It was always going to happen. They need to pay for those acquisitions somehow, especially as subs have stalled. Seems to me that they are trying to move away from offering Day One games. The experiment hasn't worked and they now need to find a way to transition away from it. Gonna be hard to do when they have offered this for a couple of console generations and their userbase has gotten used to getting these games for "free". 1

Dcubed Posted July 10 Posted July 10 You can't put the genie back into the bottle, and you can't put value back into what has already been devalued. This is the beginning of the end for Game Pass.
Julius Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Bosman continues to nail it: The post-credits breakdown of that Xbox ad really cracked me up 1
Julius Posted August 15 Posted August 15 There have been a lot of rumblings about Xbox bringing a first-party title to be ported over which will be announced next week (likely at Gamescom during ONL), and the initial teases seemed to imply Forza Horizon 5, but despite everyone agreeing it'll come at some point, apparently it won't be what's revealed next week. ...maybe it'll be Hellblade II? It could be a number of other things but the way I see it that game has no chance in hell of even being nominated for GOTY without getting in the hands of more players, and it feels like total GOTY bait (to completely oversimplify it in as few words as possible), so, maybe?
Hero-of-Time Posted August 15 Posted August 15 With how Halo Infinite was received, I'd would think that would be on the cards. It would certainly give the multiplayer a big boost in players.

It would certainly give the multiplayer a big boost in players. I feel like Halo's in a weird spot when coming over to PlayStation – I'm not sure how essential the story is to that world and those games, but I feel like before Infinite you'd at least want some footing on the PS5 already, potentially with the Master Chief Collection? There were those rumours too a couple of months ago about them wanting to remake/remaster Combat Evolved again and that would then be coming over to PS5. On the other hand, like you said, it could give the game a good bump in players. I wonder if they're going to be really weird about it and potentially have the multiplayer come over first without the campaign, similar to how Infinite had that weird staggered release on Xbox too? If not Halo related and it's not Forza Horizon 5 (yet), honestly I'm left scratching my head a little. I've seen Starfield thrown around as a potential one too, but I feel like that's a much easier sell with a complete edition sometimes next year than to just bundle in the game + it's first DLC when more DLC is on the cards (and coming next year). As far as I'm concerned, they can keep Gears Maybe a Flight Sim game? They've got that new one coming up so maybe they port over 2020? Edited August 15 by Julius
