Julius Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Harvest Moon and Mystery Tower have been added to SNES and NES Online, respectively! 1
Dcubed Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Surprised that we actually got Harvest Moon. After it appeared in the Japanese service back in March and not on our one? I thought that it was probably locked in Natsume/Marvellous licensing hell. Glad to see that they worked it out

(which is what I really wanted), I have fond memories of playing this as my first Harvest Moon, but really want to give the N64 version a spin. Maybe in the future... Now give us Plok naaaow.
Dcubed Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 First time that the SNES version of Kirby's Star Stacker has been released outside of Japan... ... it's also the only JPN-only Kirby game out there, meaning that every single Kirby game has now had an international release! (even if this one remains unlocalised). Neat! 1

Press quote and video embed. - - - - - It's great to see more previously Japan only releases being brought to a wider audience. Also, a title like Quest for Camelot is perfect for the service as it's a title which people might not have played, and this way it doesn't cost much to try it out. (I just checked, a boxed copy on the Game Boy is around £15 currently, so not a very costly game but the NSO price is easily justified with these games, it would seem) 1

Julius Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Battletoads in Battlemaniacs and Killer Instinct both join the service today:

Glen-i Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Wrecking Crew has never been released outside of Japan, has it? Neat! 1
Dcubed Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Oh wow! Wrecking Crew 98! That’s awesome! First ever western release! He’s not Waluigi, shut up!
Dcubed Posted April 12 Posted April 12 (edited) Playing Wrecking Crew 98 for the first time and... it kicks arse! Can't say that I thought that Action Puzzle Battle Game would've been my first thought for how a sequel to Wrecking Crew would be made, but I'm glad they took this approach. It's like they took Panel De Pon/Puzzle League, Yoshi's Cookie & Puyo Puyo and chucked them into a blender. It's great! Any fan of action puzzle games should get a real kick out of this one! Defo gotta get some online multiplayer action going here! BTW, there's an unofficial fan translation that'll probably help with figuring out how to play the game. There's a useful video here of said translation that I've timestamped to show a playthrough of the How To Play screen to show you... well... how to play! Edited April 12 by Dcubed 1
Julius Posted September 18 Posted September 18 (edited) Battletoads Double Dragon, Big Run, Cosmo Gang The Puzzle and Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen'in Shūgō! land on the service...today! Quote Four eclectic games from the early '90s are bringing toad-ally rad action and adventure to the Super NES™ Nintendo Switch Online library, and they're available for all Nintendo Switch Online members to play today! From what I can find this marks the first release of Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen'in Shūgō! outside of Japan, where it actually landed on NSO back in December 2020! Meanwhile, speaking of Japan, they're going to be getting Angelique, which was apparently the world's first "otome" (dating sim for women) game: (thanks Wikipedia for that little tidbit) It also has some pretty nice looking box art! S.C.G Posted September 18 Posted September 18 New SNES titles added to Nintendo Switch Online September 2024 Now up on the main page. Overview and video. - - - - - 1 1
Dcubed Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Have never played BvsDD, one of the few Rare games I've yet to play Nice update!
Hero-of-Time Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Quote Thanks to a bit of cheeky datamining, it looks like Nintendo may be considering implenting SNES Mouse support to Nintendo Switch Online, potentially opening the door to releases such as Mario Paint and the Japan-only Mario & Wario. This comes via reliable dataminer LuigiBlood (delightful name) and reported by VGC. Apparently, the Nintendo Switch Online SNES emulator had always contained the relevant support necessary to implement the SNES Mouse, but the most recent update to NSO significantly updated the data. The update supposedly revealed evidence of compatibility for both controller ports, the ability to do input replays of SNES Mouse devices, and code that effectively configures and changes the behavior of the SNES Mouse. It's speculated that the latter in particular will allow for the SNES Mouse to be utilised in more accessible ways than via USB. Would love it if Mario and Wario came to the service. I always wanted to play it. 2
