PS5 is being sent out to press. Impressions next week I guess?

Also, really cool that Brandon has one. Curious if this means there are going to be some accessibility features packed in that we haven't seen/heard about yet, because I have to imagine there are things they can potentially do with the adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and 3D Audio?

Great to see them sent out to press, I listen to Kinda Funny a lot and Greg was expecting Sony to send them out the week of release.

Also great that the box design is as ugly as the console itself :heh: consistency!

Sure hope so :D

Also hope they have some actual next-gen only games to try out/show. I don't need to see PS4 games running on the new console. JUST GIVE ME SOME NEW DEMON'S SOULS GAMEPLAY.

Personally, I don't care for his music or him as a person, but I do know that he is one of the biggest musicians (maybe even artists) out there right now. This is huge for the PlayStation brand.

Whoever's responsible for Sony's marketing in recent months should get a raise.

What’s everyone’s plans for expanding storage then? I’ll be waiting for Sony to announce what nvme ssds they recommend but going on the price of the new Western Digital 1tb that was just announced that’s the only one confirmed so far to be used with PS5 as well (£239) I’m probably gonna wait until prices go down and just grab an external ssd for my PS4 games.

Personally, I feel I've got pretty good at managing my PS4's 1TB of internal storage (~800GB after OS), deleting games after beating them on a regular basis, so even though we're looking at 200GB or thereabouts of less available space with the PS5, I think I'll be able to manage for the foreseeable future so long as I continue with that.

I wouldn't be surprised if game sizes balloon once we get closer to mid-gen a few years from now, but at the same time, we'll probably be due a PS5 Pro at that point, so expandable storage isn't really something on my radar at the moment!

For now I’m not going to worry about it. I don’t have many PS4 games I plan on transferring over and I’m not bothered about the games actually being on my machine long term so I’ll delete anything I don’t play often when I need to. I think if it ever gets to the point I do want to back stuff up I’ll buy a massive regular SSD and just switch games from that to the internal drive when I want to play them.

I’m one of those people that likes to have a lot of games installed on my hard drive at once so I can bounce between them depending on my mood. I’ve had a 2tb drive in my PS4 for years so don’t want to lose that convenience. I also still have quite a few PS4 games that I’ve been holding off on playing because we’re so close to the PS5 now.

Worth keeping in mind that SSD prices will come down over time and that sizes will increase.

Personally? I’d just wait it out until the prize/size ratio reaches something closer to a sweet spot; and just put up with juggling the fridge (be it through redownloading or through using HDD “cold storage”) for now.

I'm not worried too much about storage at the moment.  There's only one or two games i'll keep on the system on the long term, and one of them is Destiny 2.  I'll be watching the prices on SSD memory over the next few months/years until it's at a point i think is good value.  I've got a 1tb HDD inside my PS4 at the moment, and the old 500gb HDD is used as one of my back-up drives for files.  If i need to, i can format this drive (i've got another smaller HDD i can use for my files) to use on PS5 to store my PS4 library on.

Makes me wonder if they expected it to bomb somewhat anyways, and were planning on dropping it on PS+ a few months out. Probably doesn't make much sense at launch wanting all eyes to be on Miles and Demon's Souls, too, and we all expected it to be on PS+ (or F2P when we first saw it) at some point too, but still, a smart move for them. I'm sure the game will do much better because of this.

Seems like an obvious move, to me, especially as I said as much when the game was announced... :indeed:

The reaction when the trailer was shown, while in the N-E chat...

SCG - "It might do well, if it's free"

Drahkon - "or a budget title"

I think that sums it up, remember when Rocket League was a PS Plus game quite early on? Do the same with this, or keep it cheap and you'll probably get people playing it.

For me though, I only recently played Rocket League for the first time and while I like that to a point, this doesn't have the same appeal, but it might to quite a large audience, in time.

At least now, there's a good chance that people will probably play the game, especially if they haven't had to pay much, or anything for it.

Definitely a good idea to push Destruction All-Stars back and put it out as a PS+ title. The £69.99 price tag was always going to put people off, especially as they've shown very little of it compared to say Godfall which despite not being my cup of tea, they've been out there putting more and more info out and in some cases thats turning people around to that game.

Hopefully means they'll start putting out more details over the coming weeks/months as that'll help to get more eyes on it such that when it hits PS+, people will actively want to jump in rather than through curiosity due to it being included in the monthly game lineup.

Their wording about a new trailer next week suggests that there will be some form of info drop. Do wonder if that'll take the form of an extended blog piece with gameplay trailer or whether I'll be part of a final State of Play with there being a week to go next week to the North American/Australasian release of the hardware. I was wondering if they'd do it this week with embargoes set to lapse next week for games, at least thats the rumour, so wonder if it'll be the former with Destruction All-Stars getting the in depth blog piece.

Either way, curious if they'll do a shadow State of Play drop this week on Thursday (that seems to be their day for it) to cover any last details they want to cover before launch about the hardware or games (there still little known about the state of indies at launch beyond a small number of titles and I have been wondering if Hades will turn up either as a November PS+ title for PS4 as they have history with their games on Playstation and with Transistor being on PS+). Add to that that Annapurna have said they've got some announcement for later this week (presumably The Pathless related, probably price and pre-order details), I'm cautiously expecting something this week to close out the lead up to launch.

Unboxing videos and first impressions of the console, Astro's Playroom, and the DualSense are going up:

Must be nice :p

Just came back from a run, gonna watch all the footage after launch :D already waiting for the inevitable "this console is so ugly"-, "ugliest console ever", "urgh, look at this shitty design", "it's so big, whaaaaaa"-comparison pics/comments on here.
Well...that didn't take long.

Edit: Apologies to everyone just coming in to see footage and discussions. I just wanted to see whether my prediction came true. I should've kept it to myself.
I won't change anything to this post so my mistake is still visible.

Again: Sorry. Let's just enjoy some PS5 news :)

People are raving about the DualSense.
Seems like the real deal. Here's hoping that these impressions convince devs to further pursue adding these mechanics to their games :)

Size compared to the PS4...

Yeahhhh that could be a squeeze  even taking the PS4 out of the equation, it's going to be a bit tighter than I'd like next to the PS3 Slim and Switch!

Might need to shuffle things around a bit and start using my lower shelf... :nono:

The PS5 might actually be the first console I'll place vertically. :D
Don't necessarily like the way it looks on the side, but I do like how it looks standing upright.
