Jimbob Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I've got a retail version pre-ordered, and have had it done since June/July last year. If there is room in the club, count me in as i'll be playing. Depending on how the game plays once i have it (the demo was very good i might add), i'll probably snag the Season pass as well.
Ganepark32 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Think I'm currently gonna try out the version that comes free on PS+ to see how this plays before making a judgment call on whether to get it or not. Should give me enough of an idea of whether it's worth upgrading to the full version after that. Seems to share some ideas with the likes of PGR so if it plays at all like that, then I'm more than in. Hoping it's more than just a looker and has the substance to go with it. We shall see anyway.

Why would you buy the retail version? Get the digital upgrade for £35 and save yourself a tenner.
Jimbob Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Why would you buy the retail version? Get the digital upgrade for £35 and save yourself a tenner. I'm getting it for £35 as well. GAME forgot to clear some pre-orders i had collected. I can't remember which games they were for, but it's happened before when i bought inFamous and got the edition with the beanie for cheaper, so i'm putting the deposits towards the cost. Still a little cheaper, which for a boxed retail edition is pretty good going. Anyone know how this club thing works?
Cookyman Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) Heres a breakdown of what you get in the PS Plus Edition I'm getting it for £35 as well. More info here. And this video will just make you cream your pants. I did not know about this! Pretty cool eh? Edited October 6, 2014 by Cookyman Automerged Doublepost
dwarf Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Haha, that customization is pathetic. The game itself looks intense.
bryanee Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 This games gonna be rubbish isn't it Impressions from people who are playing it have been quite positive.
Cookyman Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Haha, that customization is pathetic. The game itself looks intense. Considering it's for a figure you'll hardly notice in the car it's far better than Gran Turismo's where you could adjust the colour of your stig a likes helmet. The games does indeed look intense. There isnt any customisation. You can only select some colours and unlock some fixed decal designs. I dont think your car can even be plain if you wanted. :p You play for liveries - it's a racing game you don't expect to drive around in a shit brown Ford Escort. I was hoping it was more than 6... Inches? This games gonna be rubbish isn't it Yup it's gonna be terrible. Not even worth downloading even thought it's free. But seriously Driveclub is still my most anticipated game this year.
James Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Don't get me wrong, I want it to be good, but it's gonna be Infamous all over again...good but not amazeballs.
liger05 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Looking forward to playing this tonight. Shame about 30fps but should be fun.
CoolFunkMan Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Boxart typo.... Haha!! This game does look great, although lacking in monies, so I'll be trying the PS+ version first.
liger05 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Some pretty average reviews for the game. I have the game as pre-ordered from PSN but am disappointed that a game which was due out nearly a year ago hasn’t managed to hit the heights I thought it would. FH2 by all accounts is amazing and looks like this isn't all that. The Sony exclusives aint really doing much on the PS4 so far.
dwarf Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Eurogamer 6/10 'The PS4's DriveClub barely manages to raise itself beyond mere competence.' http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-10-07-driveclub-review Ooh dear. The actual handling looks a bit Dirt-like to me in the way that it isn't super precise and is quite forgiving, which means you don't really feel like you improve as you progress through the game. I'm interested to see what you guys make of it.
S.C.G Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 That's Eurogamer though... Other places have scored it reasonably, Destructoid gave it 7.5 I think and I'd take more stock in their reviews, so basically in my mind it's probably an 8/10 game at best but I reckon dlc will improve it over time and I'm happy with what I've seen from it so far in videos plus the GIF's - those GIF's!!! - so I'm sure it's going to be a worthy investment. : peace: Anyway at least this wasn't rushed out for launch! I will be being a bit more cautious about future PS4 purchases from now on but damn this still looks to be a lot of fun.
Daft Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 It's the closest we'll get to a new PGR and it looks like everything I wanted. We'll see. Fingers crossed I enjoy it, at least.
Jimbob Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I don't think we'll be waiting for the missing content long according to some sources, probably a few weeks.
dazzybee Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Crazy. A year in and there isn't one game released for the ps4 that could be considered amazing (except p3 ports). Except maybe Resogun... But doesn't quite count. Strange as it's incredibly popular... shows what marketing and image does I guess. Still, there is a lot of content on the system and with more to come, just so weird that there's probably nothing we'll be talking about in a few years time.
Daft Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Can't think of any games that survive with a legacy after the first year since Mario 64 had its day tbh. Wii Sports maybe. Destiny, almost definitely, but thats multiplat and going to run and run.
The Bard Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Yeah...at this point my PS4 is a video streaming device. Haven't played anything on it since Last of Us.
Cookyman Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Wow talk about a difference in opinion! Gamespot 5.0 The B Gamer likes it. Videogamer TV - "a wonderful little racing game" IGN - No video up yet but scored it 7.9 DJYOLZ Gaming - Fucking hates it! Gametrailers - no vid on youtube yet 8.6. So there you have it some completely different views on the game, I've just downloaded it in prep for launch on Friday. I'm still totally pumped for it!
Sheikah Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Destiny, almost definitely, but thats multiplat and going to run and run. Destiny really is something special. Forget what people may write about it on paper. Playing is everything and this game is gold.
Cookyman Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 No consensus. Which isnt a bad thing. Different opinions are welcome. Would be more like music and movies and less metacritic. Ok so on the subject of opinion - was it absolutely necessary to quote me including all the you tube videos? It's my opinion you couldn't be arsed editing the quote. Anyway - lets lighten the mood - this made me giggle!
