Cube
From Evolution Studios (Motorstorm). Previous rumours suggest that the team acquired some staff from Bizarre Creations (Project Gotham Racing).

bob
Some appalling camera angles in that first video. Hopefully you're not just limited to playing with 90% of your view covered by car interior.
S.C.G
Shuuuush! we're already breaking the first rule of Drive Club.* :p *Well someone had to say it. -------------------------------------- Seriously though, slightly 'obvious' name aside, what was shown did look graphically intensive but I can't help but wonder if it will live up to the hype long-term. Choze
lol Some appalling camera angles in that first video. Hopefully you're not just limited to playing with 90% of your view covered by car interior. I am sure you will get other angles. Its a racing game after all. Daft
I think it would be hilariously weird if there wasn't. Then again I used the low bumper camera for the first two PGR games...not sure what I was thinking. The zoomed out felt way too slow. Worked out well because when I finally did play in zoomed out everything was so much easier and I was a stunningly good driver. Anyone else play Cat and Mouse mode in PGR 3/4? It was easily one of the highlights of this generation. In terms of online highlights it's up there with the Halo 3 Beta and Uncharted 3 online. Probably better than both, though. Choze
The main thing is that the driving is hopefully fun. Since its by the Motorstorm devs and looking at the team's vast experience they should have a great driving feel. The club aspect is very interesting. We could create our own group and race against others. Certainly hoping this ends up great. Its worth pointing out that the game has dynamic day and night as well as weather. Multiple camera angles are confirmed on the game's facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/driveclubofficial Edited February 23, 2013 by Choze
Daft
Beyond beautiful: How PS4's Drive Club could be the first 'social racing sim' "Challenges can be stringed together in tournaments, in everything from a short blast of super accessible gameplay to a really involving week-long combination of asynchronous and real-time multiplayer," Southern adds. The Article Sounds promising. The racing genre has needed a kick up the wazoo for a while now. Edit: Nom nom nom. "The handling team itself has been expanded massively now," explains Southern, "there's over 50 years combined experience in that team alone, not just with WRC and Motorstorm but Formula 1, WipEout and Project Gotham Racing, Gran Turismo and Tourist Trophy, Superbikes. These guys have made some awesome racing games and they're collaborating in a fantastic way to come up with something that hopefully sits in a new space." Daft
New details. The June issue of Game Informer is packed with new Drive Club information. Here’s a summary of what was shared in the publication via Neogaf: -Play offline in single-player - Also has a big online focus - User-created race challenges encouraged - Everything you do is tracked by a single profile in single-plaer - With teams, accomplishments are funneled together into the larger success of the group - Three-on-three team challenges included - Create events based on different parameters: car type, track, time of day, weather, etc. - Can make lengthy multi-stage events that take place over a number of days - Participants can span in the thousands with hundreds of different teams - Win smaller accolades to add team’s XP - These include clocking the fastest lap, drifting 1,000 meters, going 0 to 60 the fastest - Use apps outside of DriveClub to make challenges as well - Spread accomplishments and media through social media chanels - Evolution will be making its own season of league racing through weekly online race events - Visuals and gameplay are equally important - DualShock 4′s touchpad is used for menu navigation, for the most part - Touchpad also being considered for cameras - Not a simulation-based racer - Damage cars take won’t determine how they handle - Koenigsegg, Maserati, Pagani, Hennessey are represented - Start off with slightly less glamorous cars - Race and increase fame/funds to gain access to better cars - More people will watch you race as well - More cars will be added through DLC; will be “one of the biggest titles for Sony from a DLC perspective” Sounds pretty standard but I'm definitely looking forward to this and hoping it can be my new PGR. Team racing is so much fun and horrendously under-represented.

bob
I do think it's weird how they advertise car games. It's basically just car porn. Can you imagine if they advertised a new Mario game with a close up of his shoulder? Then a shot of his feet as he careers around a corner... Choze
Totally meh at the still images. The video and the gif though, look slick. If these car models are in game then they are by far the most detailed in game models. Everything looks top notch here from effects to the scenery. They should put out 1080p images though. I do think it's weird how they advertise car games. It's basically just car porn. Can you imagine if they advertised a new Mario game with a close up of his shoulder? Then a shot of his feet as he careers around a corner... Its depends and if that were the case it would be pretty weak. GT, Wipeout and Motorstorm do all sorts of stuff for example. I am liking this Driveclub stuff but supposedly e3 will have much much more. So keep an eye on it.
Daft
Thing is, we know the cars are going to look shit hot. I just hope they invest a similar amount of effort into the world. Some of GT5/6's tracks look tragic. Dynamic weather would also be lovely. Shit, dynamic everything.
Cube
Dynamic weather would also be lovely. Shit, dynamic everything. I think consoles are ready for a weather system where rain actually forms puddles and streams and snow sticks and builds up.
Choze
Thats still far too much. You can do some stuff like dirt kicking up and maybe accumulation but water like that is expensive. Snow is more realistic perhaps? I can see pc's doing this but not the next gen consoles. Dynamic weather would also be lovely. Shit, dynamic everything. GT5 already has dynamic weather and time on many tracks. One of the game's best features. Both confirmed for Drive Club. Scenery looks top notch so far. Abit Motorstorm 2 esque in some ways. I like the track distance.

More like the rain/snow maximum level "tracks" are all designed and the system slowly builds up to the maximum with a speed depending on how heavy the weather is. If that makes any sense.
