Mokong Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Yet he couldn't out run the cops.... damnit now ye have me doing it
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Nothing is sacred, especially not when it comes to humour. --- Anyway, if I'm to become serious for a moment, continuing off what Mokong said, situations like this do make one step back and ponder why we make heroes out of famous people. By all means we should celebrate their talents and accomplishments, but we sometimes seem to forget that they're human just like us, and sometimes even rather poor specimens.
Daft Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I'm not sure we do forget that. This is a pretty extreme case, too.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 It's my distinct impression that some people tend to forget it the way they put famous people (especially sports stars) on pedestals. And of course this is an extreme case, it's just that it really brings the topic into the limelight. It was the same (albeit much less severe, of course) with Armstrong recently.
Cookyman Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Should have engaged his attack mode. Couldn't agree more!
Blade Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 What does Spurs have that Oscar Pistorius doesnt.. Bale.

It's the constant visibility in the media, "hey look at what this guy did, he's soooo awesome". Constantly followed and talked about, they turn into characters, be it positive or negative. Hence why you get idolisation → unrealistic expectations just growing even more.
bob Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 What does Spurs have that Oscar Pistorius doesnt.. Legs? Girlfriends?
Agent Gibbs Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 i saw a report earlier that neighbours reported hearing 6 shots, more specifically - 3 shots, screams then 3 more. it was a tabloid so take it with a pinch of salt, but it certainly isnt seeming like an accident so far
Ramar Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 What does Spurs have that Oscar Pistorius doesnt.. Bale. Oscar Pistorius has murdered his girlfriend. Proof that even a man with no legs has a better shot than Fernando Torres.

It was more of a rhetorical question.
Daft Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) Oscar Pistorius case: bloodied cricket bat is key evidence, paper claims The plot thickens. The well-respected City Press newspaper reported that a cricket bat covered in blood was found at Pistorius's home and is the central piece of evidence against him. Citing sources close to the investigation, the paper said Steenkamp's skull was crushed and police requested Pistorius undergo drug tests. City Press also reported that Pistorius called his father soon after 3.20am on Thursday and asked him to come to the house. When the family arrived, Pistorius was allegedly carrying Steenkamp down the stairs, her head and arms "dangling". If he's guilty, which he probably is, his crying has been pretty prosthetic. Agent Gibbs Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 see now it makes sense neighbours hear row he goes ape beats her with bat, she runs to bathroom, locks door he follows can't get in, comes back with gun, tries to shoot door open and scare her kills her finds her calls dad calls friend (revealed he called friend first) calls emergency services and claims the "intruder story" or he could have just beat her then when she was dead panicked and shot the body but i can't see away this all adds up to legless man accidentally kills girlfriend believing she's an intruder
Mokong Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 A cricket bat? I shall await them to find a Wii U and copy of ZombiU and then blame the whole incident on Nintendo and Ubisoft HE THOUGHT SHE WAS A ZOMBIE! Now it all makes sense
Wii Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Shame on a lot of people on this topic. Making a mockery of a very serious situation. A woman has been murdered. Shot in the head, possibly had her head caved in with a cricket bat and a stunning woman dead at 29. This is someones daughter and sister. Would you make jokes if it was your sister, mother or friend?
Magnus Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 If my mom got shot by a no-legged man, she'd want me to make GIFs about it.
Daft Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Humour is my way of coping with this utterly distressing event in my life.
MoogleViper Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Surely if you killed somebody with a cricket bat, you'd burn the bat?

MoogleViper Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Would you make jokes if it was your sister, mother or friend? Probably not. Both my sister and mother have both of their legs, it would be a lot harder to come up with some good jokes.
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Not sure if this has been posted already, so apologies if it's a repost. The detective leading the Oscar Pistorius enquiry is himself facing 7 charges of attempted murder. Why am I getting the feeling that this case is going to go tits up?
Shorty Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Not sure if this has been posted already, so apologies if it's a repost. The detective leading the Oscar Pistorius enquiry is himself facing 7 charges of attempted murder. Why am I getting the feeling that this case is going to go tits up? Charges were dropped against the officer in 2011, this really looks like Pistorious paying a lot of money to defame the detective.
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 (edited) Charges were dropped against the officer in 2011, this really looks like Pistorious paying a lot of money to defame the detective. From the article: "Mr Malila said the charges against Det Botha had originally been dropped but were reinstated." It could be new evidence against the officer, or something else. Wonder how exactly this will affect the case. Certainly the credibility of the officer in question. Could be Pistorius paying a lot of money to do this, could be genuine.
