Because I hate the way things are going. I see the World become more and more Puritanical, where less and less is allowed (try and get a nipple on the mainstream internet). People made excuses for Project Zero, they make excuses for this and you know they'll make excuses for the next one (whatever it is). I've had drawings of adult women in bikinis (I never, ever draw children, because those aren't the shapes I'm interested in) taken down... and for what reason? Because someone thinks it's rude. Someone thinks it's pornographic.

The human body is being redefined as obscene, to the point where soon we will no longer be able to show an ankle. I didn't have a single sexual thought when I saw the Japanese character; I just thought she looked sleek and the bikini was a good design. In the same way, I'd probably think the male characters had good muscles if they were shirtless. Not everything is sexual. We've adopted such strange values.

But in this case it's right. I feel the intellectual left is letting the world down (this is a bigger topic than games) but with this I do agree, I guess this is why it's such a tricky subject, just because this is being watered down, it isn't justified by default because something else was watered down when it shouldn't have been. if that makes sense.

Yeah, gotcha.

I genuinely don't understand what's going on with the character models though, because in most shots she does look like a kid, but I still say she doesn't in the silver bikini image.

This is a game I will try to buy as soon as possibe (with FAST: Racing Neo - as I think in both games developers really tried to make a good game). It's a kind of game I think I will like (figting is the only thing I am not sure about, but I will take a risk).

I cancelled my pre-order, i'm not loving Xenoblade 3D so i'm not sure i'm going to even like this, i just can't get into Xenoblade with the campy voice acting and terrible AI on some party members

Was someone putting Melia as an AI party member?

Because apart from her, all the characters do their job perfectly fine. It depends on what moves you give them.

But yeah, if you're not liking the game, chances are that you won't like this.

Yep that would be it, I have to control her if i want her to not suck (not that i really know what i'm doing with her) but i prefer using Shulk, especially if i have to periodically fight Mechon, Shulk's AI seems equally as bad if i leave him to be controlled

My main dislike is the level of side quests, they are a little hard to follow, but the sheer volume of them means i can't complete them all and as someone who tries to do all side quests its killing me

but X could be different, its voice acting isn't necessarily going to be as bad, and other niggles such as AI might not carry over

Getting Melia basically killed the game, her AI that is, Shayla is becoming a liability and not good for healing, Riki is just odd, but i might just use it, Shulk and Dunban

Maybe i'll like the game more once i'm past this boring bit, really wanted Melia Dunban and Shulk though

I had my reservations for a long time but the Wii version eventually won me over :hehe:

As good as it is, though, I may not get Xenoblade Chronicles X as I was drained after the first one :heh:

@Grazza may want to see this. The first point we already knew but the second....

Lin's base model has been changed so that the bikinis are not as revealing. (This was already known)

-The character creator has been modified so that the bust slider has been removed and so therefore when creating a female character, all female characters created by the player have by default medium-sized breasts.

Ha, I give up. The ongoing bikini/lingerie censorship winds me up (Bravely Default, Project Zero, Xenoblade Chronicles X), but I made myself look like a paedo in the process. I still say in most of the official footage she doesn't actually look like a child, but I'm past caring now.

This is interesting though:

The 2nd point I assume is about your main player character. Well, I don't understand why they've done that, but there you go.

As for the first point, are they actually saying the model has been changed? I wouldn't have thought the bikinis were actually part of the "model"?

I'm not really sure.

The second point is hilarious. It's a freaking character creation tool! I just....I dunno. :indeed:::shrug:

Actually, I'm glad you brought it up, because it proves my point.

They censored the bikinis of one character, supposedly because she's meant to be 13. However, not wanting players to see large breasts at all (the exact opposite of the other situation, frankly) suggests there is a Puritanical mindset overseeing this localisation.

I'd have made a male avatar anyway, but it's an interesting insight into what they're thinking.

I don't essentially have a problem 'censoring' the clothing of under 16 year olds in Games, the range of 17-19 is debatable depending on how old they look

but the boob slider (uhh it sounds so pervy arguing this) is wrong, its meant to be a character creator, if they are making some customisation unavailable its not right. Its a very odd one too, whats wrong with super small or super large chests? surely they should just reduce the range? do women not have various sizes?

it seems the most cack handed censorship

If there is anything I hate in games, is reveleaing clothes on main characters. They should have left the slider, as female players will try to adjust it acording to themselfs (probably), but I would prefer if they would exclude all the cleveage, because of the on-line play.

Now, this is just my opinion.

Meh. :blank: Like @Grazza, I give up trying to understand this stuff. It's clear this way of thinking is here to stay (if anything it's going to get much worse as aspects of Western society continue to regress) so yeah... ::shrug:

I look forward to not even being able to choose a gender in the next Xenoblade.

Now this is a dumb omission.

Not gonna affect me in the slightest. I always go for the male option. But I can totally understand any annoyance caused.

Yes, it's a very wide issue across Western culture - I've just been researching the Street Fighter V censorship. No one could possibly say that was about the characters looking under 16. There's a bitter irony that as artists get better and better tools (more powerful consoles), they're not actually allowed to use them as much as in the past.

Does anyone know how the game did in Japan? I remember it didn't start well.

I am hoping that they will make some good deal for digital, to increase the sales.

Not sure if is still the offer, but when I bought the Wii version of Xenoblade on the eshop for £17.99 the offer was you'd then get £9 off buying X in its first two weeks of launch :)

I haven't bought it, as I don't have an old type TV to play Xenoblade, while on HD TV it really looks bad.

I am hoping for some deals which include other games :D as I am planing to pay full price for Xenoblade, but because of the number of games I would like to have, some boost would be welcomed :D.

So, I've been playing this for a week and a half now. Racked up 30 hours and just got my first Skell, which is a real 'OOT Epona' moment as the vast landscape suddenly becomes such a breeze to traverse. Like with the first Xenoblade, I've found myself completely sucked in by the side missions - even though they pretty much are all kill and fetch quests - and although the story and characters definitely don't seem like they're going to stand up against Shulk and co. in the long run, the exploration does a very good job in making up for it. This is definitely a game to get excited about!
