I just said... their leaves and flower heads could show you where they are when in long grass! A patch of grass suddenly brought to life with flowers as you walk through could look lovely!

Also the grass need only be in transitional areas... then it could be back to the flattened grass texture.

With Pikmin 3 only 3 weeks away, would you not rather just wait and experience it first time with this game?

But I'm bored now :heh:

Wicked, thanks a lot I'll track down the NPC version or the Gamecube version asap. It's such a shame Nintendo haven't sorted out the Wii U virtual console properly yet; it'd be amazing if I could go home and just download it!

Do not wait. Get Pikmin 2!

It starting on the Wii has no impact on how the final product is.

There's a logical reason though..

...Just because the game started development on one console does not mean that it is somehow gimped when development has been pushed to another. That is specious reasoning at best

Let me just stop you there to point this out. Don't talk of logic, and then argue in unwarranted extremes. Nobody said the game is 'somehow gimped' other than you. All was said is that starting out was a Wii game, ported over(or however you wish to refer to it, it's irrelevant) to the Wii U WILL have had an effect on it. To deny that is totally illogical, it is absolutely impossible for the beginning platform to have no effect on the subsequent product given it is the beginning of it's life. Do you believe they disregarded everything previously? They scrapped and started from new? No.

It is only logical that starting on another system WILL have influence, yet you categorically state that it has no impact. Illogical. You discredit yourself in the way your argue your points, you move around constantly, this is why you find yourself encountering so much tension in my opinion. If you're gonna take a line, stick with it, but stop jumping around all the time and think things through a little more.

If you're going to come back with 'that's not what I meant' then make sure you make yourself clear, stop talking in extremes if they're not what you mean. Your accusations towards people of insinuating things they didn't say are almost as bad as calling them names for holding opinions - you're accusing them of unwarranted things.

Any word on Pikmin 3 multiplayer? My girlfriend loved the Nintendo Land Pikmin attraction so I have a feeling co-op could become a regular thing.

I don't know much about the Pikmin3 mutliplayer, but I won't hold my breath for now. Pikmin 2's multiplayer wasn't enthralling unless it was with an avid pikmin fan I'd reckon. However Pikmin 2 itself is a brilliant game given it removes the 30 day limit; you've still got the day cycle/time limit per day, but knowing you aren't under a possibly too tight time limit gives you time to explore and take in the beauty - more freedom to play your own way too. I really enjoyed it(though maybe because Pikmin's just Pikmin) but I won't recommend it yet if you've got a Wii U and contemplating this. Personally I'm unsure I'm picking this up on release, but I'd be interested to see how much more it builds on the previous game mechanics and gameplay.

You COULD still easily do Pikmin 2 in a week or two though, I think I ended up getting it whilst procrastinating uni work and didn't fail too bad :p

Meet the Pikmin #1

Woo promotion :)

I'm really looking forward to this game. I originally wasn't, only intending to get it due to helping Nintendo and I somewhat liked the original (despite the time limit), but now I can't wait. Best birthday present from me to me!

I'm not for a second doubting this is a good game, but Famitsu have become more and more of a joke as the years have gone on. I wouldn't even look at their scores now because I honestly don't know how they judge a game anymore.

Resident Evil 6 - 39/40

I echo Retro's sentiments. Famitsu don't seem to be as stringent as they once were. Too many high scores for questionable games.

I'm sure this will kick arse, though. Can't wait to play eet.

Very true.

I usually go with Eurogamer when it comes to reviews. However, my mind is already made up with this game and my preorder has been in for a long while now.

So, how many people on here have played through and enjoyed both the Gamecube Pikmin games? *raises hand*

I'm interested to see if we have a few fans of the series on the boards, or whether this will be peoples first Pikmin adventure.

I watched @Eddage play through the original Pikmin and played a little of it myself, I thought it was a fantastic beautiful looking game. I think I kind of didn't mind the day-night limit either, but of course removing it does free up the game for more fun and exploration.

I considered getting the sequel myself, but the environments seemed to put me off a bit, quite a few caves, and I didn't think the snowy areas for example had the same wow factor to them (I still think the same of the footage I've seen of Pikmin 3, although maybe that deserves to be seen on the TV and not just Youtube). Also I liked Olimar and wasn't sure about the new guy :p

I'd definitely give Pikmin 3 a think, when I pick up a Wii U, but it's not a system seller to me.

I played the first and have never played the second. I can't imagine it being as fun though without the time limit. It gave urgency to the game. I remember sweating like a pig when I was approaching the end of the game and was behind schedule. Somehow, I seemed to pick up a few vital pieces right on the home stretch and my ship managed to take off. I was nervous as hell that we weren't going to make it.

Sublime game. I'm all for the time limit. Bring it back, Nintendo.

Huge fan, HUUUUUGE fan of the series since I played the New Play Control games.

It's the perfect game to play after you've had a busy day.

Just brew some tea and enjoy the environments.

I'm not sure when I'll be able to get a WiiU (hopefully in the summer months) but when I do, this is the game I want with it!

Don't forget Nintendoland bro, it's only €19-ish at the MediaMarkt webshop this week, hint hint ;)

1&2. My Pm2 copy is NTSC ; I can't think why now unless PAL was released some weeks after! I'm after new play control version just for collection sake. On a side note some recommended this game (dark overloard) as a hidden gem on wii which shares RTS style of play with Pikmin, so might pick this up at somepoint too.

Played a few levels of the first game with my brother on his Gamecube, but this will be the first one I pick up myself and can't wait. Preordered and raring to go - apart from the 3DS backlog getting in the way, and then Wonderful 101 the following month, still want to have a second playthrough of Zombi U, need more time on NFS: MW, argghh! Too many games.
