Wii Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 More than 2GB of space needed on the Wii U for digital download Says it all really.
Magnus Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 That you need more than 2GB free to download the game! God, Dazzybee. Pay attention.
nekunando Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Maybe it's because I haven't really looked at an instruction manual for a long time (or that I haven't seen a good one in a long time ) but that image alone has almost sold the Wii U to me.. is that strange..?
-Dem0- Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 that image alone has almost sold the Wii U to me.. is that strange..? Nope. It looks so bright, colourful and AMAZING!
killthenet Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Used to really enjoy just sitting and reading the SNES and N64 game manuals, they haven't been as nice the past couple of generations though. The booklet for this looks great though, definitely hypes me up more for November 30th. The wait is becoming excruciating now. Is it really three weeks away?
Ronnie Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 The overworld does look pretty fantastic to be fair, particularly in the latest gameplay vid. The earlier worlds look a little barren, visually but later ones look amazing. What's with the big recycling logo on the Wii U game boxes though? Also that blue is going to clash with Zelda's gold. #zeldageekism
-Dem0- Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Also that blue is going to clash with Zelda's gold. #zeldageekism Not unless the Zelda WiiU box is gold
killer kirby Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 That map gives me SMB3 and SMW vibes, now next step I hope they have is secret areas that can not be seen (Like when you beat the sunken ship in SMW a whole new area opened from out of the water)
Ronnie Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 I wish they'd bring back the keys and keyholes (complete with sound effect and animation) from SMW
Zechs Merquise Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 That overworld looks amazing, I think anyone who's heart doesn't flutter when they see that officially has no soul! I love the full colour booklet, I always used to remember getting a new game with my mum and reading the manual in the car on the way home - filled with excitement for the moment I'd run in and play it for the first time. Seeing this actually fills me with happy memories from when my mum took me to get Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES. I remember purchasing it from Woolworths - that shop doesn't even exist anymore This looks to be the best NSMB yet!
Londragon Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 This looks to be the best NSMB yet! It does. Even after getting more and more disillusioned at the NSMB series, this now looks to be perfectly taking it through SMWorld (my favourite 2D Mario) and onto even greater heights. I am now, officially, tempted to purchase this. Damn, my aching wallet.
Ronnie Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I hope there's a star world. Also a shame they didn't bring back the map music from SMW (I assume)
S.C.G Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 What's with the big recycling logo on the Wii U game boxes though? Also that blue is going to clash with Zelda's gold. #zeldageekism I'm assuming the 'less plastic' recycle boxes are for America only, I really hope so anyway... call me old fashioned but when I pay for a boxed game I want it to come in a full box, not half of one; plus what with it having chunks of plastic taken out of both sides you'll get a horrible indentation on the cover if you accidentally pick it up in the wrong place.
Strange Cookie Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Some pictures: Niceness!! Oh yes, oh yes!! Call me a child, but this is one of the reasons why I like Nintendo. Look at it! It radiates fun! Brings me back when I used to read the Super Mario World manual back and forth and back and forth again... Yes, my childhood may have been pretty nerdy is retrospect, but this gets me all giddygiddy.
-Dem0- Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Boost Rush Mode footage Some enemy artwork Hit the link for the rest.
Aneres11 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 These threads are becoming like viagra. Particularly the ones with pictures. It's making me too excited! Box art looks beautiful, instruction booklet looks beautiful, disc looks beautiful.
Magnus Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I'm not sure why people are so impressed with the manual. The world map looks nice, but... that's it. That's going to be the whole thing. A map, basic controls, probably some warnings about taking a break every hour. So could we all agree that the world map looks nice but manuals these days suck? :p These threads are becoming like viagra. Particularly the ones with pictures. But particularly my posts in any thread ever.

I understand it's more ecological, but still... Can't really be bothered with digital manuals. And even then it's usually in black & white. So it's indeed only a manual, but it's a colourful manual, which is a rarety these days. Ah, the days of my youth...
Phube Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Still one of the best manuals ever is GTA:SA! That was a whole book, next to that the NSMB U one is a little lame. But still better than nought!

Ah, the days of my youth... All of Nintendo's late-generation Wii games had full-color manuals too (well, the ones I own do, anyway), and like the New Super Mario Bros. U manual they were just pamphlets, so my issue was just with how it seemed like people thought this manual was somehow better just because it had colorful picture of the world map inside, even though it's really just the same thing we're getting with most games these days. I realize most people probably just meant they liked the picture of the world map, but it bugged me anyway. :p I too kind of miss the days of the manual. I realize that companies like to save money and manuals aren't even really needed now that we have in-game tutorials and cutscenes, but they were sort of fun to flip through, you know? Just flipping through the manual for The Wind Waker and remembering all the good times. Hard to get the same nostalgic feelings reading the basic control setup for Skyward Sword. Ah, but soon everything will be digital and then it doesn't matter.

Ah, the days of my youth... I'm glad they don't make them like they used to. I remember getting OOT for Christmas and going absolutely mental because I was so excited about the game. My cousin and I played it so much that my entire family got genuinely angry. So in the time between plays we pawed over every details in the manual... including the bit that spoilt every weapon you would get and the fact that you became adult link.
Magnus Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Of course, these days something like that would get spoiled on gaming sites months before the game was even released, so you just can't win.
Jamba Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Of course, these days something like that would get spoiled on gaming sites months before the game was even released, so you just can't win. Yep. Probably a key difference as to why I had a blast with Skyward Sword (media blackout for me) but was completely ambivalent to Twighlight Princess (looked into every detail). It obviously was not influenced in any way by both visual and game deisgn
