Beast Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 So I've heard a few people convert RnB/Pop songs into Rock songs and they sound ten times better as rock songs. I want to find some more of them. I found two to start us off: Lil Wayne- Lollipop (God awful rubbish!) Framing Henley- Lollipop (A lot better) ===== Lady Gaga- Poker Face (I love this song and Lady Gaga but...) Blowsight- Poker Face (...this sounds a little better to me) ....so guys, help me out, are there any Pop/RnB/Rap songs converted to Rock that sounds awesome? Thanks!
Jon Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 (edited) I actually heard the Blowside cover of Pokerface before hearing the original version. Suffice to say, I was thoroughly unimpressed when I heard the original one. Edited February 21, 2011 by Jon
Murr Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Kelly Clarkson - Since you been gone Covered By, A Day To Remember Britney Spears - Toxic Covered By, A Static Lullaby MIMS - This Is Why I'm Hot Covered By, Well not really a cover, but a different version by MIMS called - This Is Why I Rock Britney Spears - You Drive Me Crazy Covered By, Sugarcoma I'd reccomend the A Day To Remember, Static Lullaby covers and MIMS alternative, but Not to keen on Sugarcoma's effort. You Should look into the 'Punk Goes...' Range... Some of the covers are awesome
Paj! Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 (edited) If anyone DARES bring Nightwish's disgusting covers of Kate Bush in here I will personally stab them in the gut. Repeatedly. -- I do sometimes like listening to those "Rock remixes" people do on Youtube, but they're usually not very good/don't work. Covers are obvious better in that they rearrange the song. Only one I can think of off the top of my head is Kelly Osbourne's "rock" cover of Papa Don't Preach, which I had the cassette of back in the day. Obviousy the original is far superior. EEVILMURRAY Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 If anyone DARES bring Nightwish's disgusting covers of Kate Bush in here I will personally stab them in the gut. Repeatedly. I'm sure Kate Bush made them disgusting to begin with. But Nightwish's attempts on Phantom of the Opera/Walking in the air are not bad. Albeit neither pop or RnB.
drahkon Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 (edited) Muse - Popcorn Audio Disturbed - Shout 2000 Audio Disturbed - Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For Audio The last one might not be a pop song originally...don't care :p Oh, and come on...nobody thought of this: Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal Audio Edited February 21, 2011 by drahkon
S.C.G Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I'm sure Kate Bush made them disgusting to begin with. I'm sure she didn't, Kate Bush has many sublime songs and I'd actually dare you to listen to some of them - if you haven't already - and quite honestly tell me that they are 'disgusting' because if you did then you know I'd have to get Arnold out...
EEVILMURRAY Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I'd actually dare you to listen to some of them - if you haven't already - and quite honestly tell me that they are 'disgusting' I'll take that bet.
Ramar Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Forever Never recently done an EP called "I Can't Believe It's Not Metal", some quality covers. You're The Voice Boombastic Audio
Paj! Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 S.C.G, EEVIL just praised Nightwish in the same post as dissing Kate Bush. There's something so irreparably wrong here that's there's no use commenting.
S.C.G Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I'll take that bet. S.C.G, EEVIL just praised Nightwish in the same post as dissing Kate Bush. There's something so irreparably wrong here that's there's no use commenting. It's ok, I'll let the music do the talking...
EEVILMURRAY Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 (edited) Capital selection S.C.G, I promise I will listen to it shortly, just need to finish this essay. S.C.G, EEVIL just praised Nightwish in the same post as dissing Kate Bush. There's something so irreparably wrong here that's there's no use commenting. If it keeps you quiet for a little bit, it'll be worth it. I said I'd give the lass a chance and I did. Hounds of Love: Not bad, didn't help with the video being complete shite. Running Up That Hill: Better, video's still wank. Cloudbusting: Stupid song, worse video. Donald Sutherland yay! Breathing: Again, not bad. It was a shame that the music drowned her out too much. Some alright songs, but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to any of them again. Anyways, back on topic. Pop into Rock: [Depending on one's definition of rock] Edited February 21, 2011 by EEVILMURRAY pr0's before h0's
Frank Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Well I've never been much of a fan of those rock conversions. My music is usually as smooth as silk. However, that Poker Face cover reminded me of a "metal/rock" performance that Gaga did herself. Lovely stuff!
Dyson Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Bands do it too, this one for example went from Rock to absolute fucking shite:
EEVILMURRAY Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 And pump up the bass on any song = Bam. Instant Cascada.
Oxigen_Waste Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 So much crap in the same place should be forbidden.
arnold Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Heard it this morning....it works, it works well
ipaul Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Kate Bush covers ay? I quite like that one though.
Paj! Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 It also feels aurally within the same ballpark as the original, which is hardly bubblegum pop or anything. (original is also better mumble mumble)
Beast Posted February 23, 2011 Author Posted February 23, 2011 I've also become a fan of ReinXeed, who cover pop songs and turn them into rock and they're quite awesome. My favourite is Viva Forever...
