Choze Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Single player: Simply called "Medal of Honor", the game is set in present-day Afghanistan and focuses on Tier 1 Operators - super army soldiers, in other words - who get involved in situations all around the world. Online: To compliment the single-player experience, EALA has enlisted the multiplayer expertise at EA DICE. This team will develop the multiplayer experience of Medal of Honor. I guess EA feel the need to copycat. Using Afghanistan is tricky though. Not happy with DICE's involvement. EA ruining every studio they get as usual.
dwarf Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Weren't you a fan of Battlefield? How do you know they're ruining them? Did you put Modern Warfare as a joke subtitle? Why are you still on this forum?

EA ruining every studio they get as usual. Not so sure...look at Criterion,Bioware? Bet theres more if I think about it...Not saying their aren't studios that have failed under EA but to say they ruin every studio is unfair. Anyway it was inevitable that this was going to happen, but the move to more modern settings was arguably was the making of COD as the mega franchise we now know and love. The rumblings going around are that the new Medal of Honor is meant to be amazing so I'm for one very interested.
MATtheHAT Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I really hope EA can reboot this franchise, if anyone deserves to steal some of Activisions thunder, its EA. Plus, there's nothing like a bit of competition for Infinity Ward to get the creative juices flowing.
Emasher Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 They had me at "EALA has enlisted the multiplayer expertise at EA DICE." This game is now on my "To Watch" list.
MATtheHAT Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Also, just noticed the release as 'Autumn 2010'. I bet it gets released around the same time as CoD7.
Emasher Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Which will most certainly not be made by Infinity Ward, so I figure EA will have an advantage there.
MATtheHAT Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Yeah its Treyarch's year. But even so, World at War sold shitloads due to brand recognition, Medal of Honor is not going up against Treyarch or Infinity Ward, its going up against Call of Duty.
Emasher Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Although, MOH does have some brand recognition remaining at this point. Hopefully they use Frostbite.
Nolan Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Yeah its Treyarch's year. But even so, World at War sold shitloads due to brand recognition, Medal of Honor is not going up against Treyarch or Infinity Ward, its going up against Call of Duty. dude...dude you have leet trophies right now. 1337. awesome. Umm slightly more on topic, eh until I see it not sucking I'll assume it to be like every other MoH.
Dan_Dare Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 dude...dude you have leet trophies right now. 1337. awesome. Umm slightly more on topic, eh until I see it not sucking I'll assume it to be like every other MoH. yeah. dude. Awesome :p
Choze Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 The best MOH game to date was by ex IW members funnily enough. EA dont have what it takes and they have taken every single independent studio they have purchased down with them consistently. Activision on the other hand had their studios grow stronger in identity. Everyone knows who IW or Blizzard are and they are on top of their game overall. DICE on the other hand are now like the many studios EA brought out before them. A shadow of their former selves for the past few years. Already helping out on core EA franchises and soon enough dead.
Cube Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Even Criterion have been shoved into making Need for Speed.
MATtheHAT Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 dude...dude you have leet trophies right now. 1337. awesome. Umm slightly more on topic, eh until I see it not sucking I'll assume it to be like every other MoH. Yeah lol, I noticed. Even Criterion have been shoved into making Need for Speed. Good point.
Dan_Dare Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Even Criterion have been shoved into making Need for Speed. Point... but then, Critereon are a big crew (They've had two games on the go at once before) so I'm sure they can keep making other stuff even if it's more of a concept stage kind of thing. Also, I dare say it'll be the best NFS for some time when they're done. No problem with that. And why exactly are DICE a 'shadow of their former selves'?
Choze Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 Even Criterion have been shoved into making Need for Speed. Exactly. I'd rather they do a new Burnout.
Aimless Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Criterion are making a Need for Speed title having released only a single game this generation, a product which EA allowed to be supported by a year's worth of free DLC. There's also nothing to suggest they aren't doing so willingly; for all we know they might as well be making another Burnout game, it'll just fall under the NFS banner as historically that series has sold better. DICE were given a stab at a new IP in the form of Mirror's Edge, have worked on several diverse Battlefield titles and are currently finishing what is likely to be — by my estimation — the best multiplayer console FPS of this generation so far in the form of Bad Company 2. Neither of these two studios seem particular hard done by to me. Suggesting that Activision encourages studio identity based on Blizzard and Infinity Ward is also highly disingenuous. The former have always been a respected player in the games industry with a dedicated fanbase — and, lest we forget, the company is called Activision Blizzard, Inc so they aren't exactly an underling — with the latter only having any real say in what they do thanks to the success of CoD4, a development house famous for its spats with higher ups and resentment towards the treatment of the Call of Duty franchise.

Heck IW left EA because they knew EA would ruin them. Even if you make that sound as negative as possible its still better than EA's track record which speaks for itself. IW got their way with COD4, since when do EA give their studios that kind of responsibility? EA's culture is famous for being harmful. Edited December 3, 2009 by Choze
Aimless Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 In the past, perhaps, but you'd have to be blind not to see how EA has changed over the last few years. If you want to keep persecuting them for the sins of the father then go right ahead, but I'll continue to find your veneration of Acti—"exploited every year on every platform with clear sequel potential"—vision baffling in the extreme.

There have always been EA defenders. Thats nothing new. What has changed? Nothing. There always SSX's, Mirror's Edge, Dungeon Keepers etc. But they dont last.
Nintendohnut Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I am not a fan of the beard. It's almost as if they went "who's the main character in the new COD? An English guy? Right, we need a backwards cap and some sunglasses. Now he's American! What do you mean he still looks too similar?! FINE! Give him a goddam beard. And even better, let's make him left handed."
Fierce_LiNk Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) I believe that Grandpa Choze is set in his ways. No amount of discussion will change him and his anti-EA ways. I think Aimless' post is pretty spot on. EA seem to have got their arses into gear. Take Fifa for example, they were heavily criticised for their constant yearly updates quite a few years back. But, they've turned that around now. Edited December 3, 2009 by Fierce_LiNk
Emasher Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I'm quite close to laughing. Bad Company 2 is easily the best online FPS I've played, and that was just a Beta with one map, and a bunch of other stuff limited. If the full game is to the standards of the Beta, it will easily have the greatest online multiplayer of this generation. How exactly is EA ruining DICE if they're putting out products like that? If anyone's ruining their studios, its Activision. Activision's current CEO publicly said that his goal in joining the company was to take all the fun out of game development.
Shino Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Dice is shit until it releases BF3 on the PC. >='( Also, Choze came from the past to alert the people of the future about EA.
