Beast Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I didn't know where to put this but... I got an XBox 360 for my birthday today and I got some games: LOST The Club Condemned 2 Dark Sector Crackdown And I'm trying to get CoDWAW to play Nazi Zombies (as I'm forever on it at my mate's) but what I wanted to ask was what good games are out (LIVE or not and excluding Resident Evil 5 and Halo 3) This would be a massive help
Daft Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Earth Defence Force 2017. The only game you will ever need.
Cube Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Get Left 4 Dead and Call of Duty 4 instead of World at War.
Pantsu Man! Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Earth Defence Force 2017. The only game you will ever need. This. Also Gears of War 1 & 2, Assassins Creed for cheap, aswell as Mirror's Edge for cheap. Mass Effect, Rainbow 6 Vegas 1 & 2 also. There's loads of good games that are gonna be cheap now. Plus there will be Arcade games you can buy; Gunstar Heroes, Marble Blast Ultra, Castle Crashers, Alien Hominid, Aegis Wing if it's still free/on Live, etc, etc.
McPhee Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 (edited) Call of Duty 4 instead of World at War. Or both, they're both cracking games in their own right. Bought WaW yesterday, did the campaign in one go last night. Not as good as CoD4, but damn fun nonetheless. As for games, other than those already mentioned; GRAW GRAW 2 Dead Rising Street Fighter IV Soul Calibur IV The Orange Box (though better on PC) Far Cry 2 Devil May Cry IV Fable II TESIV: Oblivion The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena (if you haven't played 'Escape From Butcher's Bay' then get this. It was one of the best games on the first Xbox and is included in this pack, fully remastered) Pure Fallout 3 Bioshock The Darkness Forza 2 Dead Space Burnout Revenge Burnout Paradise PGR3 PRG4 Fight Night 3 Fight Night 4 Skate Skate 2 GRID UFC Undisputed Viva Pinatta Viva Pinatta 2 DiRT BattleField: Bad Company Loooooong list lol. I just started typing and that's what i came up with. Every one of them worth checking out if they're your thing Edited June 24, 2009 by McPhee
dwarf Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Christ there have been some boring games posted. At least put Banjo in there!

Shorty Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Earth Defense Force would surprise you (in a bad way) if you went out and bought it based on the judgements in this thread, you need to realise what you're getting. What you're getting is a game that was so underrated that it has now somehow become overrated as some kind of cult classic. It's an enjoyable sofa split screen arcade shooter that's so dated that it looks like an N64 game. While it is a lot of fun, it's kind of strange to see it suggested before something like Gears of War, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Orange Box, Fallout 3, Rock Band, Street Fighter IV... (You must own all of these, by the way. Now.)

Shorty Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I guess it's just taste but for me those red games are just frankly nothing special. Skate and DMC4 are amazing. On the other hand I didn't put them on my list because they're for more of a specific taste.

(You must own all of these, by the way. Now.) EDF is the greatest local co-op game ever (clocked in around 40 hours). Just makes sure you have a rocking soundtrack.
The fish Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 You highlighted PGR. You are automatically the stupidest person ever. I was thinking that too! :awesome:
dwarf Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Tbf I'm probably not the only one, although I probably didn't play it enough. I just think if you're going to get a simulator/like game then you should do it the proper way, I'm sure you know what I mean.

I just think if you're going to get a simulator/like game then you should do it the proper way, I'm sure you know what I mean. No idea what you mean, at all. PGR is the slickest series around. Cat'n'Mouse is the most underrated online racing mode. It's brilliant.
McPhee Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I guess it's just taste but for me those red games are just frankly nothing special. You just highlighted some of the best local multiplayer games in the list There's a lot in there that isn't anything special. Heck, i'd say there's only a few games on the list that actually are. There isn't one game on there though that isn't worth a play through if it's your sort of thing. Most of them are dirt cheap now too, £10-£15 tops. PGR? It's more of an arcade racer, not a sim so not really much of a comparison to that as yet unreleased PS3 game you're referring to
S.C.G Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Earth Defence Force 2017. The only game you will ever need. This! Eeeeeeee Deeeeeeee Efffffff! Eeeeeeee Deeeeeeee Efffffff! It's pretty much mindless, non-stop action but it's so awesome! ^^

I guess I'm just mal-informed.
Cube Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I'd have posted Banjo if it was a good game. I think the lack of it being in the list speaks for itself. Nuts & Bolts, as well as Kazooie and Tooie on XBLA, is awesome. Edit: As for PGR...I sold it because it was a boring simulation game.
Babooo Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 From my own experience: The Orange Box - fuckin awesome. seriously. Street Fighter 4 - luv it. GTA4 - one of the best games i've played Mass Effect - bit buggy but gooood Bioshock - so immersive. DMC4 - bit repetitive but loved it COD4 - best shooter i've ever played.
Daft Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Edit: As for PGR...I sold it because it was a boring simulation game. It's definitely not a simulation. I can throw a Mclaren F1 round a tight 90 degree corner at around 150 mph. It is not a simulation. It's about as arcadey as you get.

Ganepark32 Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Basically agree with everything everyone else has posted but seriously, if you can only get one game make it The Orange Box because it's 5 awesome games in one and it's an incredible deal. and dwarf gourami, you didn't like Dead Space? I agree about DMC4 though. Playing it now and it's not all that.
