Choze Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) Its in the new Edge. Something about social interaction. Published by Activision. Described as Need for speed meets Facebook... different cities and countries different styles of racing 20-player online events local 4-player racing social networks: 'Racebook', 'MyRace', and 'InnerTube' are where you arrange races, keep cars, show off, challenge etc. sharing in-game photos Can create custom rules such as have people yell specific words when they overtake someone. If they dont they arent rewarded. Edited May 2, 2009 by Choze
Choze Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 One of the more confusing threads I've read. Sounds stupid thats why. Shouldnt expect much from EA or Activision. This game does use real cars.
Dan_Dare Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Bizzare have had a 'gaming network' in mind ever since they tried to do a TV station in game. Presumably, this is an extension of that.
Choze Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 Bizzare have had a 'gaming network' in mind ever since they tried to do a TV station in game. Presumably, this is an extension of that. Well i hope it plays well. I was hoping the kudos stuff was gone :/ TO be fair the idea is inventive but along the lines of what NFS would do.
Choze Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 Boring. I want PGR5. Lets wait for screens first. From what i read i'd rather have the kudos system lol.
Choze Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) And I want MSR2 Same thing :p There are powerups in the game. Like Mario Kart. Edited May 2, 2009 by Choze
Daft Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 And I want MSR2 PGR1 is MSR2. It's a direct sequel in everything but name.
Nolan Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 PGR1 is MSR2. It's a direct sequel in everything but name. You murdered that joke. It's not very good, but it was there.
Choze Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 Thinking about it, i think this could be really good. Online could be fun with the power ups.
flameboy Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Personally don't give a shit about this lol! I'm looking forward to Split Second way more, all this facebook-esque jazz just doesn't cut it for me tbh.
Choze Posted May 10, 2009 Author Posted May 10, 2009 Activision want this to be the cod of racing games. So lets see.
Goafer Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I like the idea of PGR meets Facebook, but I don't like the idea of powerups. I'd rather win a race through being able to actually drive than the luck of the draw on powerups. Can't they just to PGR meets TDU? It would make my day.
drahkon Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I like the idea of PGR meets Facebook, but I don't like the idea of powerups. I'd rather win a race through being able to actually drive than the luck of the draw on powerups. Yep, exactly my thought. What are leaderboards, a community and stuff like this for when winning a race is largely influenced by luck (assuming that it is)? It would only make sense if winning was about skill. Have to agree with flameboy, Split Second sounds way more interesting.
Cube Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 If the handling is good, it's fast and throws the laws of physics into a bin on the ceiling then it could be great.
dwarf Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) Hehe sounds like that would be good. Edit: http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/984/984394p1.html Yes, there are weapons, but their implementation has been delicately handled. "It's not like Mario Kart or WipEout, where the power-ups decide the course of the race," assures community leader Ben Ward, "That's not what we're about; we're more about augmenting your racing talents with the power-ups so there's more strategy to the race." Blending seamlessly with the racing, weapons are accompanied by audio cues that become instantly recognisable - whether it's the digital ticking of a mine or the sub-bass hum that warns of an imminent shockwave, they're part of an audio package that's just as impressive as the game's visuals. True to the team's aims, weapons don't feel overpowering, with an always-available rechargeable shield that encases the car in an electric haze for a well-weighted defensive counterbalance to the game's offensive options. For those of you that are interested. I'm not. Edited May 19, 2009 by dwarf
ShavenWolf Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) I've got a spare beta code for this, first person to PM me can have it! Edit: The code's now gone, y'all! Edited March 8, 2010 by ShavenWolf
Shorty Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I managed to pick one up when Kotaku posted a list, even though I didn't really know anything about the game. When's the beta start?
flameboy Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 is it only on beta on xbox 360? don't seem to have seen anywhere giving out Ps3 codes.
Cube Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I managed to pick one up when Kotaku posted a list, even though I didn't really know anything about the game. When's the beta start? It starts on the 8th of March.
Cube Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I tried out two races this morning. I'd most compare it to Sega All-Stars Racing (minus the All-Star move) as the weapons seem to have the same minimal (but useful in the right place) impact. It definitely is a kart racer (minus the good drifting mechanics they usually have) and it is kind of odd seeing these real cars move like this (like Beetle Adventure Racing).
