Listening to that right now. You're so frecking right!

Yeah, I'm pretty open on the whole 'shouty' business. For my opinions, see Wesley, j7 and Jav's posts.

Same here :)

"This ballgames in the refrigerator,

The door is closed,

The lights are out,

And the butters getting hard.

What a splendid pie,

Pizza-pizza pie,

Every minute, every second,

Buy, buy, buy, buy, buy,

What a splendid pie,

Pizza-pizza pie,

Every minute, every second,

Buy, buy, buy, buy, buy."

I listen to a lot of metal but usually I stay away from the Death Metal and such because of all the grunts and shouts.

I think Slipknot and SOAD are very good examples though of how it's done right. They manage to carry over emotions and the point they are trying to make by shouting, so it's noticable to me.

There's nothing quite like sitting on the bus with this in your ears ^^

Urgh. Keep doing it, you'll fuck your vocal chords eventually.

Kyo from Dir en Grey has had several operations on his throat since they're so fucked :(

I could not listen to that to be fair, not on the bus anyway. I also find people who pump this music out annoying to be fair. Especially when you are trying to listen to your own music and all you hear is heavy metal.

That Messugah song is just so self-indulgent. It doesn't do anything to me that it is trying to do, as it's the same throughout.

Ha :P This sort of music is about neck and shoulders. You (well, I do anyway) dance fairly slowly to this, but in jarring violent motions. And it's built up, with areas where you mellow up and bomb down. It's just that people don't realise how metal stuff is not really as in-your-face as you think. There are subtleties and crescendos. Bass, drums and level of vocal aggro = layers.

It's an acquired taste, that's for sure. And it's not about beauty! Primal shit, yo ;)

As for being bus-music.. yeah I do get a bit self-conscious on trains/buses when listening to this stuff. I'll turn the volume down or skip. But walking down the street? It makes you a mean dog. People get out of your fucking way - not because they can hear it but because of your intensity.

There's music that makes me feel like hugging people when I'm walking down the street. Sometimes I really just want to punch them in the face. This music is better for that.

System of a down - Bounce

Its so weird, what the hell is it about other than a pogo stick?

surely it has a hidden meaning?

Jump, Bounce, Down, Up

I went out on a date

With a girl, a bit late

She had so many friends

Gliding through many hands

I brought my pogo stick

She had so many friends

Just to show her a trick

She had so many friends

gliding through many hands

[Chorus] Jump (pogo x7) , Bounce (pogo x7), Down (pogo x3), Up (pogo x3)

jump (pogo) bounce (pogo) up (pogo) down (pogo)

Unannounced was there games

All players with no names

They lined up double quick

But just one pogo stick

Everyone gets to play

Runaway, expose'

It was so exotic

But just one pogo stick.

[Chorus]

Oh, I like to spread you out

Touching whoever's behind

[Chorus]

Find the meaning now? :)

Edit: Its about a sex orgy.
