Iun Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Choux pastry, going to have a crack at it later. Anyone made it before?
Aneres11 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Choux pastry, going to have a crack at it later. Anyone made it before? I think Choux pastry is the easiest of the pastries to make. Although pastry in general is an absolute mother. I haven't ever made it, but I don't think you use your hands like you do for the others so temperature isn't so much of an issue which is normally what makes pastry making so hard! Good luck!
Raining_again Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Pizza muffins! Recipe 100g (approx) flour ~ i use 5g for dusting and 95 for recipe. half teaspoon of oil ~ any unflavoured kind Sachet of yeast Water optional - salt, mixed herbs. Filling: tomato purée Cheese anything else you fancy, go maddd flour, yeast, oil into a mixing bowl. Gradually add bits of water and mix until all of the flour has collected. Should be firm, and not wet to touch. Like dough! :P Take it out and beat it about a bit, stretch out and fold over a few times. Helps the yeast activate. Leave in a warm place for 1-2 hours. Roll out the dough into circular shapes - The triangle cut outs are optional, I find it helps it fit in the case a lot better. Will take a bit of working out with sizes to get it fitting just right. Spray muffin tin with frylight or use some butter or whatever to grease. pop the dough in like so: Add fillings. I use the back of a spoon to put in the tom purée as its easier to put too much in. You only need a small amount or they end up very wet. Add cheese and whatever else, like so: (I put in tom purée, grated red pepperami, cheese, bacon and more cheese. I find I had to squish the ingredients down with a spoon.) Cook in teh oven on about 180 until cooked like soooo: Although mine look overcooked they were actually perfect I just got the tom puree over the edges and it burned a bit lol
S.C.G Posted August 5, 2012 Author Posted August 5, 2012 Pizza... Muffins? Those look delicious Raining I must have a go at making some, I should really get back into cooking and posting in here more often - seeing as I started the thread - its been too long.
Raining_again Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Yeah... they're easy to make and so tasty =3 Even normal pizza uses the same standard recipe so if you cant be arsed fiddling round with muffin tins just roll it flat. (The frylite/greasing rule still applies)
ReZourceman Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Its very basic, but I can add another dish to my repetoire - Chilli. Got it down now. Got a recipe for KFC style fried chicken that I will be using this week.

Raining_again Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 kfc chicken - mix egg and bovril, coat with smash (dry) and stick in the oven... It's out of this world. p.s that chilli looks rather delightful
Ville Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 man I'm getting old. I'm way more interested in cooking than I am in gaming these days. I mean wtf' date=' right?![/size'] Well, we can always change the site to Noodle-Europe, eh?
Raining_again Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 SLIGHTLY OVERCOOKED MUFFINS. Banana, chocolate chip and mixed nuts
ReZourceman Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Overcooked = added texture. Which on a muffin............ .......is no bad thing.
Raining_again Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I liked them a lot, but they coulda done with 5 minutes less, even just for the ones on the hotter side of the oven The oven is my nemesis, I could do a really complex recipe fine but once it goes in the oven its never as awesome as the raw ingredients.... lol
Aneres11 Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 I made muffins! With home made buttercream - which I ran out of due to shovelling it in by the spoonful before I put it into the cakes... Just to make sure it was ok obvs... So there are 2 plain muffins... Anyway here's a pic! An after tea treat with a brew me thinks
ReZourceman Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 If you are not a pussy, you will like this smoothie; There used to be a juice place in Aylesbury called "Juice Junction" and they did this amazing smoothie, I have tried to replicate it - I am very, very close. Its delicious. - Fresh orange juice - frozen yogurt (I've had to use yogurt+ice cream/banana sorbet) - peanut butter - honey Its nuuuuuuuum. --------------- Did my first roast last week. It was really, really nice.
Retro_Link Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Roast looks good Rez. Nice job! Gravy/Sauce? Smoothie needs a stir. Right I'm off to be inspired by The Great British Bake Off.
ReZourceman Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 (No gravy, the carrots had sweet/sugar sauce and it wasn't too dry,so the flavours of the few ingredients could shine) I too will now watch bake off. Also....lolz, thats the gradient on the cup. :p
Retro_Link Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I too will now watch bake off. Also....lolz, thats the gradient on the cup. :p I knew that! :p *totally thought it was the fresh orange juice* Damn I fancy making a Treacle Tart now! ... But I don't have any baking stuff!
M_rock Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 This is a wrap with peppers, letuce, red onions, feta cheese and meat: And this is my glorious almond cake:

Though I realise that yoghurt =/= milk... /Heathers
ReZourceman Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 I guess it doesn't, I've had four or so recently. Or I've just got a strong stomach. :p
ReZourceman Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 My second roast, this time with gravy, and parsnips - butter (and a smidge of oil inside the bird) and cooked less = chicken beautifully moist. A resounding success. Its been about 3 - 4 months since we moved out. I am slowly feeling that I can now answer; "Can you cook?" with "Yes."
Aneres11 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 So Sunday is turning into my baking day haha. Today I have gone for a mini victoria sponge - but with a tiny twist. Rather than normal buttercream / fresh cream in the middle, I have opted for white chocolate butter cream instead. I nearly ate all that before it went in the cakes - standard haha. Anyway here be the pics: [/img] [/img] Yum yum.
Magnus Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I hate when you're baking and you keep eating the batter because it's just so delicious, and then when you finally finish your cookies/cupcakes/brownies/whatever you're all sugared out and can't even stand to look at them. Such a waste.

Such a waste. Haha - that's kinda how I'm feeling right now. But I'm balancing it out with some fish and veg for tea - so then I can O/D on sugar again. Yay.
