Deathjam Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Yep, couldn't agree more!!! The challenge maps are where the difficulty is though IMO. Some of the predator ones just took some very good thinking (to get all the medals) and the combat ones just some very good combat skill! (which seems to naturally come by playing the game shit loads anyway!). However in the case of Shock and Awe extreme, u need to be fast and good!!! Once i had done the challenge modes i flew through the game on hard difficulty, there was just one of two bits that took me a few goes to get past. Wish I had the time to get the plat on this game >.< Had a week from work and have still not got around to playing it again!
Gio001 Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Can't download the free DLC as i'm not a gold member at the moment. It doesn't even say you can download it at a later date like some demo's.

nightwolf Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Starting playing this today, its awesome! I love the camera view when you are in a cut-scene etc, original, at first I thought it might be annoying, but it does allow you to see more of the scene itself. Not so sure about the fighting yet, although its pretty impressive, as is the graphics.
MATtheHAT Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Dammit the Freeflow Combat Challenges are pissing me off. I only need to do these for the Platinum. The Predator challenges were awesome, I loved those. But fuck 'Shock and Awe (Extreme)' *sigh* Anybody got any advice?
Daft Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Yeah...I'm not looking forward to doing the combat challenges.
Happenstance Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 I think I may trade in the game tomorrow, I have now completed it 3 times. I do like the challenge rooms but ive played through them quite a few times already so it might be time to move onto another game.

Yeah that is one thing thats on my mind but ive never been a big person for DLC, I like main games then extras I get bored of quite quickly so if it was some amazing DLC then id consider buying the game again when it got cheaper.
Chris the great Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Is it me or does this game has metroid prime elements? Its pretty good so far. Extremely well polished and fun. Take notes EA. id say it reminded me of a mix between metroid prime, assassins creed and a hint of eternal darkness.
Foxfear Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Dammit the Freeflow Combat Challenges are pissing me off. I only need to do these for the Platinum. The Predator challenges were awesome, I loved those. But fuck 'Shock and Awe (Extreme)' *sigh* Anybody got any advice? Aaaah, the good old Shock and aaww shit as I like to call it It's just a loooong process of trial and error really :p But if you want tips, I'll give you some: 1) Don't bother going after the guys who're going up for guns, just wait for them to return and then smack 'em in the face.... 2) Take out the "special" henchmen ASAP, with instant takedowns, they'll get a pain in the ass for your combo later on... 3) Roll as much as you can!! If you find yourself in a bad position or surrounded, just roll!! It makes Batman look like a total douche, but he doesn't get hit/doesn't break the combo 4) Go for Ground takedowns, they land you a huge amount of points (100*combo), but don't forget to clear out the area with the combo batarang before attempting it, nothing more annoying than some goon that breaks your 45 combo while you're GT-ing a guy -.- Here, hope it helps
Portlett Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 im currently trying to get the medals on the combat challenges, im finding the normal shock and awe hard enough let alone the extreme version. The game does remind me quite alot of Metroid Prime in some aspects particularly the upgrades to your weapons and when you have scanner on. One of the best games of the year I think, I wonder if there'll be a sequal.
Babooo Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Just got this from my cousin last night. Will give it a bash later on tonight!
Esequiel Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Think i am going to buy this. Its really good. PS3 or 360 version.... 360 has better frame rates. I kid i kid, sorry i just couldnt resist >.<
MATtheHAT Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 And the framerate's are the same on both console's..........both could be better.
Jimbob Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 White text is fun. [sarcasm] It can be, yes [/sarcasm]
dwarf Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 (edited) I just finished the game after borrowing it off a friend, I can't say I was impressed by it. There wasn't much 'wrong' per se, but little of it felt fun or rewarding. The 4 main ability unlocks were basically just spammed immediatly after they were obtained and then used very sparsely throughout the asylums facilities. The game choked under the Unreal gas, nothing looked especially great and it was just a bit lifeless. Even though it is in a way a small exploratory environment, I found that the game was very linear unless you wanted to search for riddles which aren't compelling to find because they're all fairly gettable. If you're concerned with trophies I might see the appeal. I'm pretty sure there aren't any intricate puzzles or interesting crevaces I missed out on by ignoring the homogeneous 'riddles'. They could've at least made the effort to make each one unique in appearance ala Uncharted. The amount of vent covers that had to be ripped off was laughable, and I'm not sure what the draw was in having to smash so many walls with the explosive. Or in fact 'deciphering' security doors. Then there's the almost universal agreement about the bosses in the game, which lets face it, are barely substantial enough to qualify as bosses. Recycling is obviously a large part of rocksteady. Quite high on the annoyance meter also were the notices once you die that tell you what to do, coupled with the irritating wait as you sit through a mini cutscene for the 3rd or 4th time. Onto the good things, I enjoyed clearing out large rooms of enemies, especially where most of the guards are armed. The cool factor of inverted takedowns kinda wore thin by the end but general stealth action was enjoyable. As was the combat which was handled pretty well. It's hard to master and I still haven't fully got to grips with it so I'd call that a job well done. Then there's the fan service the game contains. The game has a great script for the most part and I appreciate the tapes and profiles included in the game, however I think this is probably why I've been so critical about the game because I must say, I'm not the greatest fan of Batman and don't know much about it. I feel reassured in saying that part of the reason why the game reviewed well was because many of the ratings came from fans of Batman. It's understandable that with all the hype the game had before release along with the actuality of the game not being crap like expected, the praise for the game was plentiful. It was above all clear to see that the developers had made a recognisable attempt. However I'm looking at it as a videogame and I think that it's just a 7/10 experience. My acceptance of videogames may be Wane-ing (sigh) and it's harder for each new title to cross the threshold seperating the good from the great. Maybe a couple of years ago I would have classified games like this and Infamous as great games, but I feel the standards have been raised by others over this time. Of course, I'm in a minority on this call, but we're all part of a minority with some of our opinions. Edited November 1, 2009 by dwarf

Your not trolling and even to someone who loves the game I have to accept some of your other "faults" you found with the game other than the bosses to resonate and ring true with me to some extent. Besides 7/10 isn't a bad score, bop in the New Super Mario Bros. Wii thread and let some of them know that :p
dwarf Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 Reminds me a bit about MGS4. Yes it's a great game but the acclaim it got definitely boosted my perception of it. When Yahtzee's review came out I thought that yes, I probably overlooked a lot of the problems because it was such a massive release. That game is still brilliant, but it's not a 10/10 game.
Babooo Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 guys I just started playing this but I have one problem with this game....how the hell can you tell when its saved your progress? I know its an autosave feature but at least tell me when its bloody saving! I just cleared a whole room of bad guys and solved a riddle. Then there was a cutscene and new objective. So I thought it must have auto saved by now but it hasn't and now I'm gonna have to play through that section all over again! Annoying.....Is there any way to tell when the game has saved? Otherwise its gonna be pretty annoying not knowing when you can stop!
Happenstance Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Im pretty sure it saves everytime you enter a new section, look out for a logo in one of the corners
Jimbob Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Im pretty sure it saves everytime you enter a new section, look out for a logo in one of the corners This is indeed the case. I think it is a spinner logo or something, it appears in one of the bottom 2 corners.
Babooo Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 yeh I see them now! Enjoying this game alot right now!
