Happenstance Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Its weird, on the first combat challenge the only person other than myself showing up on my friends list is Daft. Everyone else is still on for all the others though.
Daft Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Its weird, on the first combat challenge the only person other than myself showing up on my friends list is Daft. Everyone else is still on for all the others though. It's because I totally rule. lol Actually, I think you're the only one on my friends high score on the first one. I'll check later.
flameboy Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Tried to do those in the visitors foyer when the thugs welcome you to the party. I'll probably do it in one of the challenges.. flameboy: Where were mentions of other characters? I didn't hear any mentions of other cities? There is mention of metropolis somewhere in the game can't remember if it was one of the guards or what but definitely was there.
Ryan Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 There is mention of metropolis somewhere in the game can't remember if it was one of the guards or what but definitely was there. Aw, shame I missed it then. Glad I got all the riddles etc out of the way, now I want to get the challenge and combo trophies out of the way so I can speedrun on hard mode before Uncharted 2 comes out! I've ordered both The Killing Joke and The Man Who Laughs to bolster my Batman comic collection.
Daft Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Eidos appears to have laid a sneaky bat-trap, for those pesky pirates to trying to enjoy Arkham Asylum without paying. Apparently the all-important Glide ability gets disabled if you aren’t running a legit version… As a pirate recently found out on the forums. Cheshirec_the_cat (The Pirate) Hi! I’ve got a problem when it’s time to use Batman’s glide in the game. When I hold <Space> , like it’s said to jump from one platform to another, Batman tries to open his wings again and again instead of gliding. So he fels down in a poisoning gas. If somebody could tel me, what should I do there. Keir (Eidos) The problem you have encountered is a hook in the copy protection, to catch out people who try and download cracked versions of the game for free. It’s not a bug in the game’s code, it’s a bug in your moral code. http://gamerlimit.com/2009/09/eidos-puts-pirates-in-the-asylum/ Pretty funny response. Kudos to Eidos.
flameboy Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 That is awesome! Nice one Eidos...will have to put that up on my blog when I get home!
ViPeR Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 How do you get 100%? I've got all trophies, solved the arkham mystery and done all challenges...
Happenstance Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 How do you get 100%? I've got all trophies, solved the arkham mystery and done all challenges... You have to get all the achievements
ViPeR Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 You have to get all the achievements Foooook...
Jimbob Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Nice response from Eidos. Still, should hopefully be playing this later on today once dopey the postie shows up.
Kirkatronics Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 That would be pretty cool. I'd love to see him with a cape running around being good but still insane. Maybe trying to be good but utterly failing. In one of the Animated Series, he is the Hero. He puts batman in a dream state, and when Bruce tries to find out who Batman is in his dream its him. (It may not actually be the joker.) Batman has a rubbish survival instinct. He won't kill someone with a gun even if it's absolutely necessary, yet if he survived from doing so he'd save more innocent people. Who cares if it's at the expense of one villain? Your missing the point, he morally cant kill. It goes against everything he believes in, and would destroy his purpose. In one of the animated series, he accidentally kills someone and swears off being a vigilante untill the city cries out for him.
dwarf Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Yeah someone's told me that a few posts after. Doesn't disprove him having a rubbish survival instinct though, does it?
Happenstance Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 What do we think then, new challenge rooms or new costumes?
flameboy Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 FREE DLC inbound! ARGH! You beat me to it! Anyway here is 1up's take on it; The scrolling news ticker in the start screen for Batman: Arkham Asylum has been promising free downloadable content since before the game launched, but no one has been sure what it meant. For all we knew, it was to promote the Joker challenge rooms and simply hadn't been updated. But now Joystiq noticed that it's promising the new free DLC in 9 days. This puts it at next Thursday, September 17.Of course, that goes no further to explain what it might actually be. Theories range from a new challenge room to more Riddler riddles. Whatever form it takes, it appears we'll find out in just over a week. [image courtesy of Joystiq.] http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3175938
Jimbob Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Dopey the postie just delivered my books He delivered it earlier on, i now have a chance to play the game in full now. I too am wondering what this "Free DLC" will be. We can't complain can we, it is free no matter what it is.
Cookyman Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Despite all the unversal praise this game has received I'm holding off buying it - I think I'll rent it instead sounds like it can be finished fairly quickly. I posted this elsewhere but in case you missed it: Here is a scene I'd like to see in the Arkham Asylum sequel.
flameboy Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 One thing I've been thinking about is multiplayer. Whilst I hate tacked on multiplayer that detract from the single player development. How cool would a mode like that one in splinter cell be where one person is batman and the others are henchmen....

Cube Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 How cool would a mode like that one in splinter cell be where one person is batman and the others are henchmen.... Like the counter-op in Perfect Dark?
