Coolness Bears Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 No not this movie: Since watching the Dark Knight I've been in the mood to watch more Superhero or comic book character movies. I watched Batman Begins again but that wasn't enough to quench my thirst. I haven't seen that many thus far only others really are Spiderman, Xmen (1 and 2 for both though not 3) and Superman returns. I was wandering whether you could recommend to me, what the best ones to watch are?

They're all mediocre except: Sin City Batman Batman Begins The Dark Knight Iron Man X2 Spiderman 2 All the rest is the same old bullshit and not really worth the effort, so far, at least. I haven't seen Hellboy II, which is supposed to be good.

I was wandering whether you could recommend to me, what the best ones to watch are? If you like the movies, then why not try what they are based on? Wanna read the best comic ever? Try Invincible (hardcover £17.99 13 issues) or cheaper just to try it (Volume 1, approx first 5 issues) but volume two is where it really gets good (volume 2) £6.49 each. Honestly they are simply amazing, I simply cannot recommend this enough. I think you'd really like it aswell, its very bright and colourful, but man it gets dark and bloody and brutal. Anyway, movie wise, what have you seen? (Edit...just saw) I recommend Sin City and then; Iron Man....Incredible Hulk when they DVD themselves.
Cube Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Lets see... X-Men: 1 and 2 are great movies, 3 was rubbish Unbreakable: A dfifferent take on it, and it's awesome Spider-Man: 1 is awesome, 2 is even better, 3 is terrible Daredevil: Terrible Hulk: Terrible, the "re-do" (Incredible Hulk) I'm leaving until the DVD Catwoman: Terrible Hellboy: 1 was awesome, 2 was pretty good. The Indredibles: bloody awesome Fantastic Four: Both rubbish Superman Returns: Completely and utterly boring Batman Begins/Dark Knight: Both absolutely amazing Ghost Rider: One of the worst films I've ever seen Iron Man: Average Hancock: Fairly good.
Slaggis Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Hancock average? My arse, it was terrible. Also, X:Men 3 rubbish? I don't get why so many people seem to hate it so much, I think the series has got progressively better as it's gone along. The fantastic four films are...meh. I wouldn't call them atrocious because they're watchable, but they could be so much better if there was some effort put in there. The first is better than the second though, if only for Chris Evans.
ReZourceman Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Lets see... X-Men: 1 and 2 are great movies, 3 was rubbish (3 was good! I won't take these lies!) Unbreakable: A dfifferent take on it, and it's awesome Agreed, AMAZING EPIC. Spider-Man: 1 is awesome, 2 is even better, 3 is terrible Daredevil: Terrible I liked Daredevil (although Im in the minority) Hulk: Terrible, the "re-do" (Incredible Hulk) I'm leaving until the DVD Catwoman: Terrible One of the worst films ever, period. Hellboy: 1 was awesome, 2 was pretty good. The Indredibles: bloody awesome Fantastic Four: Both rubbish Both are good/okay! Superman Returns: Completely and utterly boring Agreed, holy shit, this is how you make a bad film. Batman Begins/Dark Knight: Both absolutely amazing Ghost Rider: One of the worst films I've ever seen It was....okay...kinda. Iron Man: Average Amazing. Hancock: Fairly good. Yeah. Boom shakalaka. My Invincible recommendation goes out to anyone who reads that post btw.

The Indredibles: bloody awesome Fantastic Four: Both rubbish Superman Returns: Completely and utterly boring Haven't seen Batman Begins/Dark Knight: Both absolutely amazing Ghost Rider: One of the worst films I've ever seen Haven't seen Iron Man: Awesome Hancock: Fairly good. X1 is completely unworthy of it's sequel. Spider-Man 1 is awesome? Oh dear lord... Incredible Hulk - the redo is the best of the "non-greats" Hellboy 1 was awesome? Oh fucking hell, where do you live, it was ok at best. Incredibles I'm not even gonna go there, worst disney movie ever, afaic. Iron Man was actually great, except for the action sequences.
EEVILMURRAY Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 The Hoff as Nick Fury was most entertaining. I've not seen it, but how was The Punisher?
ReZourceman Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 The Hoff as Nick Fury was most entertaining. I've not seen it, but how was The Punisher? It was okay. Not too bad.
Happenstance Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 My favourites: Spider-Man 1,2 X-Men 1,2 (dont think 3 is as bad as people make out, prefer the fights in it) Daredevil (Not that bad) Punisher (Not that bad) Fantastic Four 1,2 Sin City Incredible Hulk Iron Man Batman Batman Begins Dark Knight Incredibles Animated ones: Batman: Mask of the Phantasm Superman: Doomsday Superman/Batman Movie Ultimate Avengers (Not bad) Probably more but I cant think of them
nightwolf Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Erm I'd probably add v for vendetta? He's not a super hero like spiderman or x-men ^_^ The rest I would say watch and then decide for yourself rather than other people's opinions. Alot of the time I find myself disagreeing with people when it comes to movies.
Dan_Dare Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Am I the only one who really likes Superman Returns? I think it's a good film. not as whizz bang kapow as most super hero films but I thought it was pretty good. Think I'm also the only one who found V for Vendetta really annoying- but that's because I'm a Moore fanboy and the deviations from the source material killed the atmosphere for me.
Cube Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Incredible Hulk - the redo is the best of the "non-greats" I'm leaving it because the DVD will aparantly have a massive amount of footage that was cut out for the cinema.

Coolness Bears Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 Thanks guys looking at the lists and your opinions is really helping me decide. : peace: I'm making a list as I type! I forgot to say that I'd seen all the Batmans! They're all mediocre except: Sin City Batman Batman Begins The Dark Knight Iron Man X2 Spiderman 2 All the rest is the same old bullshit and not really worth the effort, so far, at least. I haven't seen Hellboy II, which is supposed to be good. I was so annoyed when I missed Sin City on TV. That was my big chance to watch it! Ok that is going on the list. I watched the Hellboy 2 trailer and it looks like Pans Labyrinth. The trailer got me excited for it. Doesn't it have a different director to the first one? If you like the movies, then why not try what they are based on? Wanna read the best comic ever? Try Invincible (hardcover £17.99 13 issues) or cheaper just to try it (Volume 1, approx first 5 issues) but volume two is where it really gets good (volume 2) £6.49 each. Awesome! :awesome: I keep meaning to buy this and always ALWAYS forget! (keep reminding me :p) Thanks for the recommendations. I think I'll give Iron Man and Hulk ago when they come out on DVD. I actually needed your help today!!! Erm I'd probably add v for vendetta? He's not a super hero like spiderman or x-men ^_^ The rest I would say watch and then decide for yourself rather than other people's opinions. Alot of the time I find myself disagreeing with people when it comes to movies. I loved V for Vendetta. *knows the introduction speech off by heart* Now I need to learn the one from the actual book. :p He is more of an anti hero? good film. ^___^ I haven't read the book though. Am I the only one who really likes Superman Returns? I think it's a good film. not as whizz bang kapow as most super hero films but I thought it was pretty good. I really enjoyed it in the Cinema. I loved the plane scene. I bought it on DVD and it wasn't as good the second time but I'd still watch it again. The whole plot didn't grab me though.
ReZourceman Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I watched the Hellboy 2 trailer and it looks like Pans Labyrinth. The trailer got me excited for it. Doesn't it have a different director to the first one? Nah, both are del Toro. Awesome! :awesome: I keep meaning to buy this and always ALWAYS forget! (keep reminding me :p) Will do! I love making new Invincible fans! (An example of how amazing it is....most recent issue, number 51, I turned the page to the last page, and it was so major that I put the comic down, jumped around and screamed before I could even bring myself to read the speech bubbles on the page. It was a major reveal/twist aspect.)
Paj! Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Just watch the list Oxigen posted. They're the best. Though I like Burton's 2 Batman films too. --- I also enjoy the trashier comic films too, like Fantastic 4 1 and 2, Daredevil and Superman Returns has it's moments, though is a bit dull.

Even today reading my new book. I leapt up from my chair and had to stop reading and was like OMG!!! It was only like page 2. there was not even a twist. :p

Honestly...it could potentially kill you, its got so many twists, and "OMGZZ"!

Maybe its a better idea for your health that you don't get into Invincible then. Honestly...it could potentially kill you, its got so many twists, and "OMGZZ"! Don't worry I'm perfectly healthy. BRING IT!!! :p But seriously you may have a dead Coolness on your hands. I love twists and turns and ups and downs and sideways and backwards... I think you get the point.
Paj! Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Batman Returns - best Batman ever. Nope. Best fun without entering the realm of silliness, but doesn't come close to Dark Knight. Both as a film, and as a faithful adaptation of Batman.
