flameboy
Some really awesome stuff from IGN. 'a great holiday present for everyone' Even Europe? I can't help but feel this is wishful thinking that I share I must admit. Despite E3 getting global coverage there can be no doubt it has become a very US centric event.... RedShell
Cool, so DS connectivity is confirmed then. Sounds a lot more in-depth than what I was expecting too, never thought you'd be able to import stuff from Wild World! Now i thinking will a USA copy of Animal Crossing: Wild World work with a UK copy of Animal Crossing: City Folk...hmmmmOh yeah, good point Owen. I forgot I imported Wild World there for a while. Hopefully it'll work ok with the PAL version of City Folk.
Supercube
In case nobody has already mentioned it, you can use nunchuck control for moving your character but it's unlikely they will have GC or Classic controller compatibility.

Awesome! For some reason, I just don't like when you have to click everywhere. I also hope they expand the relationships between the characters, I mean, in the others they always HINTED at the fact Punchy and Nan were 'going to the same Yoghurt Appreciation Club' or something, and I just think it would be cool if you could be 'Best Friends' etc with the other townspeople. Yes, best method of control as far as precision is concerned and limiting the possibility of running over your own flower beds! I always tried to make my neighbours the best of friends because my favourite event was always the flea market and I used to save up expensive bugs and fish that I'd caught, cleared out my house, and kept them all in the different rooms so that I could just bring them in ready for the next animal. Fossils were good sellers and even the odd gyroid was handy to make up the numbers. For the best neighbour relationships you could get nearly 3 times the normal selling price! Sheikah
Looks decent, but surely once you've seen one AC, you've seen them all? That's the problem...the DS version got very old, very quickly. Once you realise loads has hacked their town and have all the best items easily, it felt as if there was no point playing.
Tellyn
This will be so much better, it's extremely difficult to hack Wii games, and the downloadable content won't already be in the game code, it'll be brand new, meaning no one will be able to hack all the items - they have to actually receive them through WiiConnect24. Pookiablo
A few things I feel they need to add to this game to spice it up (note: I don't actually mean this but it would be funny). - Having your neighbours getting drunk and disorderly at night, crime and even murders (in which you get the job of solving it and finding the culprit should you wish - c'mon you know it's better than delivering crappy presents!) - it'd give the Police Station an actual purpose. - Use items as weapons - you've got an annoying neighbour? No problemo. Just do 'em round the canister with an axe and then use your shovel to bury 'em under their own house - another cool feature would be if you dig 'em up in few weeks, they become a fossil that you can donate to the museum. - Thieving from and threatening Nook would obviously be a given. Firebombing his shop and other vandalism is also possible. - Why don't these animals get together? Have animals move in and live with each other, only to find out that some mouse has been doing that annoying pelican from the post office up the duff. Huge rows with animals throwing clothes and items out the windows at each other follow. And finally, something which would be great is if the game is like it usually is but Nintendo includes a mode in which, a nuclear war erupts 6 years after the game's release (based on the internal clock) and everyone's towns and cities are destroyed and you then have to join forces with wifi friends and attack other towns, thieving and killing for survival. People who time travel can then go back in time to other villagers in a Terminator-esque hunt for other players. Sure, it's stupid but hey, at least it's something new and different. Might be fun, but an "Ao" rating from the ESRB is sure to limit sales (I'm not even going to bother making a Jack Thompson Joke). I wish we could import stuff off a GC save also as I don't have wild world. I guess I'll have to see if I can find a used copy.
Tellyn
As long as you can get all the stuff you had on Wild World on City Folk if you start from scratch, I'll go for the latter. I think I'd prefer to start fresh.
dazzybee
Okay. Disappointment aside. Hopefully there's a LOT we don't know about. Lets list this things we would like to REALISTICALLY see in the game: - I hear theres a theatre to watch shows. I would love it if there was a movie edit feature where you coudl use the animals and characters from your personal town, create a little scene with typed in dialgue and these are ths hows we see when we go to the theatre. Randomly selected from around the world, but we see the name of the person, their town etc. - I would like our designs to be randomly sent to other peoples villages, and if they buy the designs, the money gets sent to us and we get told who bought them. - The auction room sounds like it has amazing potential. Please don't limit it to friends only. OR.....once a month have a wordwide auction - MUCH more of a farming side to the game, I love the trees, but its very simple and basic, after a week or two, you have the whole set and thats that. Lots more trees, lots more veg etc. On top of this I wouldn't mind seeing a cooking aspect to the game, create meals....but I think this is a bit much - The comic store again holds great potential. It would be great if you could buy comics and trading cards and then obviously actually trade them with each other to try and get the whole set - The ability to REALLY transform the town. Add remove buildings bridges, raise and lower land etc. Even if it took AGES of in game days, would be great. - The multiplayer to have proper competitions. and loads more to do. Would it be that hard to create a little football pitch and have a game of footy? Or lots of sports? Would be amazing to have lots of minigame type things to do, and obviously play them in mulitplayer - For the things you buy to be more interactive. Buy an arcade machine? Play it. Get a basketball ring on the outisde of your house, be able to go for shots in it etc etc. What do you guys think?
Owen
The game sounds excellent and for me was the highlight of Nintendo's E3 overall..i just want it in 2008, god-damn it! Pookiablo
Also agree about multiplayer sports - that would indeed be pretty awesome! It's a shame that you won't be able to go to the city and just meet everyone there a la MMO style. Could have been a funky aspect.... That design idea is brilliant by the way - just imagine making something really cool, putting it on the market and then suddenly seeing your bells balance just increase into the millions! Wait for the next generation. At that point we may see at least something where you get dumped into a city with random people you can interact with. If it was full scale MMO they would need to expand the city so much that it just wouldn't feel like AC anymore. I'm sure if they did that AC would end up with a healthy porn industry.

If it was full scale MMO they would need to expand the city so much that it just wouldn't feel like AC anymore. = You make a rather good point there - the city would have to be huge or you'd need multiple cities and following on from your last point, it just really wouldn't be AC I suppose. What would maybe have worked better is if you lived in a online town with a set number of people. Say you have between 4 and 8 other players as well as your local animal folk in which you log on to play as such and if other happen to be on then you you can interacts with them too- saying that it would probably then give way to people causing disruption to the town, plus such a scheme would require players to play. Saying that, to counter that, something like a petition scheme in which you vote troublemakers out of the town would work. Plus moving town would be a lot easier too! Discussing all these possibilities sounds a bit silly though, it'll never happen (unfortunately - maybe, depending on what you like!)
ThePigMarcher
Awesome ideas Dazzybee. Perhaps instead of the potential 'dubious' content that could appear under your first choice then maybe Nintendo could find a way of incorporating the Nintendo Channel into the theatre instead. It would compensate for the loss of the old playable NES titles and also save us a crap load of the limited internal memory storage. We can dream. stev2604
Yeah, great ideas Dazzybee. I like the city aspect, but it appears to be very small. Is it just that semi-circular area? Also, all it really is is some buildings from the town moved. I'd also prefer to see Nooks changed. Are we just going to see the same expansions again and again? Hopefully they'll change them somehow. Even though there's not many changes, I think I'll still buy it. If I can bring money etc. with me from my Wild World town it would be great.
