darksnowman Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Hope you oldies enjoy this: 1. There are too many buttons on modern day controllers 2. Modern-day arcade games cost too much to play 3. You see too many double-digit anniversaries for your favorite games 4. You hooked up an Atari 2600 to your HDTV 5. All your favorite games are featured at classic game expos 6. You still dream about starring in the movie Tron 7. You've never played Halo -- not even once 8. You still prefer game cartridges over CDs - Screw discs. They get scratched too easily. No, you'd much rather own cartridges. Sure, you have to blow into them to make them work, but that's part of their retro charm. Besides, seeing a Battletoads cartridge sitting next to your copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl never gets tiring. It shows you're really old school. 9. Your dates involve Ms. Pac-Man 10. You still play pen-and-paper role-playing games 11. Everyone who works in GameStop is younger than you 12. You collect old-school game magazines 13. You distinctly recall when and where you were during the 1983 video game crash All taken from here where you can read a paragraph about each point.
Jonnas Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 5. All your favorite games are featured at classic game expos Well, considering they already consider Zelda: OoT to be a classic game, I guess many feel this. 8. Shino Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I was expecting to relate to some of those, but luckily it seems I'm not an old gamer yet.
Roostophe Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I was expecting to relate to some of those, but luckily it seems I'm not an old gamer yet. Same here. Though I always enjoyed blowing into the cartridge and cartridge slots.
Emasher Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Some of those describe me, but I've only really been a gamer since 2001.
Daft Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 6. You still dream about starring in the movie Tron What the hell!?!! Tron is an awesome film!! Also the game Tron 2.0 was criminally underrated.
gARYgREATIE* Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 14. If it was Crystal Cracked, it was fucking awesome.
Marshmellow Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Hope you oldies enjoy this: 1. There are too many buttons on modern day controllers 3. You see too many double-digit anniversaries for your favorite games 4. You hooked up an Atari 2600 to your HDTV 5. All your favorite games are featured at classic game expos These are the only that apply to me. I spose I'm not that old school :p
Guest Jordan Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 A few apply to me, the oldest console i've ever had was a Commodore64... man that thing rocked. We have a BBC Micro in our office too, we played Elite on it for abit XD. Its pretty bad these days how younger children haven't played any of the original 8bit or sometimes even 16bit games! Sad
Shorty Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 I was following this quite well until I read: "You've never played Halo" - what the hell? Just because I've been playing games my whole life since the Commodore 64, doesn't mean I'm stuck in the past. I think this list is for people who started playing Atari when they were 60, and are now too old for these fancy new fangled x-station 460s. I plan to have the newest stuff til the day I die, and keep all the old stuff too!
Deathjam Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Funny, almost none apply to me. I think only one does and that's at a stretch, and im only 22. Heck I just bought a controller with 40 buttons (steel battalion). There can never be enough buttons!
Patch Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 9. Your dates involve Ms. Pac-Man When you go on a date, your first move is to give them the "Ms. Pac-Man test." If she can beat a level without eating any power pellets, then she's a winner. Sure, you could take her to more traditional venues -- a Putt-Putt golf course, Olive Garden or even a movie -- but instead you prefer a stop at a local video game-themed bar so you can see how they stack up with your dot-eating skills. Sometimes, your dates end with Ms. Pac-Man too. Yup, it's happened to all* of us. 13. You distinctly recall when and where you were during the 1983 video game crash I was probably playing video games, completely unaware of this. *And by 'all', I mean 'none'.
MoogleViper Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Funny, almost none apply to me. I think only one does and that's at a stretch, and im only 22. Heck I just bought a controller with 40 buttons (steel battalion). There can never be enough buttons! I'm pretty sure 40 is too many.
Jimbob Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 3. You see too many double-digit anniversaries for your favorite games 5. All your favorite games are featured at classic game expos 8. You still prefer game cartridges over CDs 11. Everyone who works in GameStop is younger than you Only these 4 apply to me, makes me feel really old. Most people who work in GAME and Gamestation and anywhere that sells entertainment products except TV's etc are younger than me, and i am 21!
